✠ Pact of Fealty and Ascent: The Accord of Silasia and Blackvale
In the Year 245 of the Second Age, under witness of GOD, sword and scroll, let it be known and sealed that a solemn accord hath been struck between the Barony of Silasia and the Glorious Principality of Blackvale.

✠ Article I – Elevation of Title and Sovereign Rights

The noble estate of Silasia shall be henceforth raised and recognized in rank and dignity, from Barony to County, under the laws and customs of the Empire, by consent of its suzerain lord and acknowledgment by the Imperial Court.

The County of Silasia, by such elevation, shall retain:

• The County of Silasia shall be recognized as the lawful heir and holder of all historic titles once held by House Whitewood;
   
• The Silasians as a people will retain full rights to practice, display, and celebrate Silasian culture. Festivals, rites, language usage and traditional attire remain under the jurisdiction of the Silasian court;

 

• The County of Silasia reserves the right to maintain all cultural institutions, archives, and heraldry without alteration;
   
• The ancient and lawful right to levy and muster men-at-arms for the defense and protection of its demesne and holdings;

 

• The inalienable decree that no title, land, or inheritance of Silasia shall be sundered or transferred unto another lord or power without the seal and sanction of Imperial Jurisdiction;

 

• Protection under fealty, wherein any threat levied against the County, its peoples or its rights shall be met in kind as a threat to the Principality itself;

 

• The sovereign right to grant, invest, and confirm lesser titles of nobility within its jurisdiction, including baronies, lordships, and other dignities. Such vassals shall owe their fealty to the County of Silasia, and their allegiance to the Principality of Blackvale shall be mediated solely through the county’s lord;
   

✠ Article II – Oath of Fealty to Blackvale

In return for these honors and protections, the County of Silasia, through its lawful lord and heirs, doth swear eternal and unwavering fealty to His Princely Highness, Coenraed van Aert, Prince of Blackvale, and to all lawful successors who may bear his title.

This fealty is henceforth bound in the following solemn charges:

• That the County of Silasia shall render aid and arms in defense of the Principality of Blackvale against all who seek its undoing, be they enemies within or foes beyond;
   
• That effort and endeavor shall be made by Silasia’s agents, miners, and scouts to seek and recover carbarum, the rare and prized metal, on behalf of His Princely Highness, for the good of Blackvale and the strength of its realm; 
   
• The obligations of this oath shall be upheld so long as the rights, dignities, and protections of the County of Silasia, as enumerated herein, are duly honored by the Principality of Blackvale.

The now Count of Silasia breathed a sigh of relief upon the official promulgaiton of the missive. "We are one step closer to reclaiming the heights our people once achieved, and I know we will be able to do it under our new Lords."

Ser Leif Whitewood was sitting in his newly acquired room in the Silasian Keep, humming a tune as a bird delivered the missive to him. The Knight scanned over the missive with a grin on his face, excited for his uncle, the now Count of Silasia. "I suppose some congratulations are in order."  he muttered to himself

A bitter son, an angry son, and a confused son all the same, regarded the missive with tired and unimpressed eyes. 

 

"Being dogs of another state, just for an up in title? Da, vy do as vy please. Vy always have," Justus muttered to the paper- as if it were his father instead, "nice to know ea was spoken to before hand- oh, wait. That does nej matter either. Looks like vy have made vyr mind up on that matter as well." His fingers smudged over his sisters name and the title that fell below it. Heir apparent.
