The Crown of Ivöria

On the Year of 2042

──────────────────────────────────────────

IN SUCCESSION of the wedding between their Princely Highnesses, Philipp Keen and Cassandra of Briar, they have cemented the wedding culture for The New Age. While an Ivörian wedding follows traditions of a standard, typical wedding, there are quite a few highlighted differences.

──────────────────────────────────────────

RECEPTION TRADITIONS

The Log Sawing
An ancient Ivörian tradition, the log sawing symbolizes the couple’s ability to overcome hardship together during their marriage. To work and upend the difficulties life has to offer, while staying true to one another.

The Flower Wreath
Prior to the wedding, the bride and her maid of honor dutifully pick out the flowers and leaves needed to make a wreath; symbolising good fortune if it burns quickly. If the opposite occurs, it is said to spell misfortune in the following years.

CEREMONY TRADITIONS

The Ceremony shall start with the Maid of Honor followed by the Bridesmaids in whichever order the Bride declares. Groomsmen shall already be at the altar standing to the right upon the Groom’s side. The bridesmaids shall gather to the left of where the Bride shall stand. Following the bridesmaids shall be the Flower Girls of young age, no older than ten summers. They shall don different attire than that of the bridesmaids and join them at the left.

In a typical wedding, the father of the bride walks her down the aisle. However, Princess Cassandra had rather opted for both of her parental figures to join her. This symbolizes the effort and love both mother and father have put into raising their daughter. The father shall stand on the right, while the mother on the left. Both figures shall hand off the Bride to the Groom while joining the side of their designated gender.

A typical canonist ceremony shall follow, the only difference being that both parties shall kiss the cross around their necks instead of each other. This is due to Ivöria’s pious culture surrounding GOD and all things Holy.

CEREMONY ATTIRE

The Flower Wreath
Following the making of the flower wreath by the dutiful bride and maid of honor, the bride shall don the wreath during the ceremony instead of a circlet. If it is not a princely wedding, then no circlets at all shall be donned by either party. The wreath itself is a symbol of innocence as she enters the marriage pure and youthful for her groom.

The Dress of Bride and Groom
While the Bride’s dress shall remain mostly white, pops of color are encouraged. Displaying the colors of both houses joining together within the union. Around her neck a Lorraine Cross shall be worn.

The Groom, on the other hand, shall don attire mostly that of his House colors. This shall be accompanied by neutrals ranging from browns, blacks, and whites to further compliment the base hue of his garments. Similarly to the Bride, a Lorraine Cross shall be worn around his neck.

Forevermore shall this be the standard for any wedding taking place within the domain. Each couple is free to add in their own familial traditions, though they are advised to adhere to what is outlined above.

“Exceptionally cool…” remarked Leofric as he frolicked in gardens far far away.
