The Mountain defeated!

The Mountain, the evil that we know under so many names here in Aevos has been defeated, or at least it has been very weakened. The battle Was epic, with peoples from all over Aevos gathering together to fight this great Evil, like Konstanze Euler who we got to interview in the Imperial Capital City about the battle. The battle was indeed gruelling, one that no one thought could be won. but with the heroism and strength of all the descendants as well as two Dragons, Sordran And Aruzond the day could be won. The battle itself was described as epic with many dragons fighting high above in the sky´s and descendants down below from all across Aevos fighting never ending waves of thralls of the Mountain. Only after many hours of fighting was the grip of the mountain weakened enough for the army of the descendants to rush down and destroy some of its crystals of power.  This Weakened the Mountain considerably but did not vanquish it once and for all. What it did do though is destabilize Aevos as we know it, while also lifting the veil of storms that surrounded it. Aevos is now less habitable than before, and the Mountain while weakened now, may return one day… So there is not much left for us to do but leave this world for another…

 

Augusten rejoin Alba

We got to interview Lady Katarina von Augusten about her House, to share it with our Alban readers and get to know this new family joining the fold. House Augusten is a proud Waldenic house in faith, duty and honoring tradition, family, strength & discipline as well as a proud member of the waldenic Diet. House Augusten in the early days  of Aevos used to be Part of Aaun, but fell out with it badly having left for Petra. It was only after the war forming the empire that the Augustens returned closer to their old home and now rejoined with Alba, as for the Augusten right now their strength lies in Alba, among those that share their heritage, their faith and their vision.  Lady Katarina wanted to share these words with you: “Strength is not just in the arms & titles but in the bonds between peoples, realms endure because their folk believe in one another and the place they call home. Community is not build stone by stone alone but by trust, by order and by willingness to stand together.

With the defeat of the Mountain and the lifting of the vail around Aevos, our time here is nearing its end. This is why we are the Citizen Compass would love for our readers to send us their favorite stories or that of their Ancestors that lived in Aevos. Something that they are proud off and would love to share with everyone. Our hope is to then write down all these stories in a special Citizen Compass Article for everyone to read ! So please send your story over to us, does not matter what it is, anything that you are proud off or that of your ancestor, we will write it up in the next edition of Citizens Compass for all to read. 

 

Gossip column

We asked you our reader how we could improve the Citizen Compass, there were many suggestions and we took them all at heart as we are endeavouring to have more pages now to our newspaper as well as some longer articles and some important international news ! We hope to continue that trend ! One suggestion though was the addition of a Gossip Column! We welcome that suggestion and want to hereby add one to the newspaper. We will endeavor to look out for the latest gossip but also would love for our readers to send their latest gossip to us so we can share with all of you!  

 

The Butcher of Alba, The Full Story

 

Much has happened since the last article I wrote about the Butcher of Alba, does not seem so long ago and we had daily news of yet another victim or even two being killed in the open street by the Butcher of Alba, without any trace of the killer! Or other days when we would find severed heads of body pieces strew around the city… These were terrifying times when no one would feel safe. However as many readers may have noticed, it has been a while since the Butcher of Alba has made an appearance or killed anyone for that matter, and there is good reason for that. Because the Butcher of Alba has been caught ! But sadly this is not the end of the story of the Butcher and not the end of our troubles, so let's start with the beginning, as told by the Lord Marshall of Alba. The First time the Butcher of Alba has been sighted, or so it is believed. It was during court as the Lord Marshall was forced outside into the Courtyard where one man had “Accidently” cut the throat of two Ivanovitch boys. The man insisted it was out of self-defense. The man was questioned intensively but nothing could be proven.. 
Days, weeks and months went by and the murders continued but still there was no tangible evidence or any trace to pin down the serial killer. It was Only once Siegfried von Schwanstein, a member of the Imperial army approached the Lord Marshal that things started to change. Von Schwanstein was leading the Imperial investigation on the butcher alongside Alba. It turned out that von Schwanstein was interrogating the same man that had been involved in the killing of the Ivanovitch Boys, once again the same man was under suspicion, but still nothing could be proven.  It was only a few days later that the Lord Marshall was approached by a soldier, Ivar,  who had come forward to tell him that someone tried to bribe him to look the other way on any illegal activities. The Lord Marshall told Ivar then to come with him on patrol and whenever he would see the man who tried to bribe him, that he should point him out. Sure enough as they went out to patrol and while they were busy with a situation, Ivar pointed out a man who was quickly trying to escape through the crowd. It was once more the same Man as before ! The Man escaped but this time they had managed to get his name from the people's present, Robert! Finally they had a stronger lead, but the search had to continue for him. 
A few days later, as both were busy in the square, a rider came in. This ride was hooded and had a dark presence around him and people could see that his jaw dropped!… the sign of a Ghoul. This thing said that it was turning itself in, and that he should be killed! The Lord Marshall nor Von Schwanstein bought this for a moment, they knew it was a ruse. After all, Ghouls cannot be killed since their Master will always bring them back to live. So instead both dismounted the rider and removed his hood and look there… It was Robert! The Butcher of Alba! The Butcher of Alba was a Ghoul all this time… but he was finally caught!  Unfortunately since the Butcher is a Ghoul he cannot be killed fully until his Master is also killed. So it was decided to maim the Butcher as much as possible, removing both his arms and legs and having soldiers transport him as far as possible into the forest, hoping that it would be a long time before he could return, enough time to find his Master. 
So there we have it, The Butcher of Alba has been identified, caught and disabled. A relief for the Citizens of the Empire, however this story is not yet at its end, there is still work to be done and the Master of this Ghoul has to be found for the threat to be fully over.

 

Should the Institute teach about evil creatures?

Once more an evil creature showed itself in Alba, and once more the children were unaware of the danger it posed. It was only thanks to the Knight Vicar Holy Ser Barend de Ruyter that the evil creatures could be dispersed. That heroic action did not take up most of his time though, as the Holy knight would spend the larger part of his time educating the local children about the dangers of said evil demon 
We have said it before in this newspaper, our youth does not know enough about demonic of evil creatures, often giving them friendly attributes or doubting their evil behavior. Perhaps it is time for the Prince´s institute to add a new class on evil creatures that our youth must attend ! If we do not teach them, how can they be safe?

 

Scammer going around

Dear readers be careful around the streets in Alba or the Capital City as scammers are going around trying to steal your money! In our encounter the scammers tried to gather money for Raevir Orphans for an Orphanage that does not exist ! If peoples ask you for donations always ask them to give you the full address to verify it!
