THE TESTING OF PETRAN SOLDIERY

After keen discussions with my dear grandson, the Count of Valfleur, we had agreed to write and declare into effect this directive, which we have dubbed the Directive on the Testing of Petran Soldiery.

 

The dark hand of evil holds yet a firm grip on the world of humanity, and it is our duty as the Crown and government to ensure that it does not reach within the borders of our Commonwealth. Evil has grown bolder, and its attacks and attempts to infiltrate our society and Commonwealth grows more and more daring by the day. We must not sit idly, we must protect ourselves. To this end, it is our great Ordre du Petrine Laurel that defends all of us.

 

We must ensure thus that the Ordre du Petrine Laurel cannot be infiltrated or otherwise sabotaged by evil. As such, effective immediately, it is the will of I, as Lord Chancellor, and of my grandson, the Count of Valfleur, who shall once reign as Archduke of our Commonwealth, that the following shall immediately take effect:

 

I. All prospective members of the Ordre du Petrine Laurel must be subject to a darkspawn test prior to joining the Order.

II. All current members of the Ordre du Petrine Laurel, with exception of the Knight Commander, must immediately subject themselves to a darkspawn test.

III. The Knight Commander may exempt current members of the Ordre du Petrine Laurel from subjecting themselves to a darkspawn test. A record of granted exemptions must be kept.

The Grand Speaker received the missive from a humble scribe at the end of a private meeting. The Garmont Assembly had ended not long prior, and Theodore Elwood rubbed at his face in exhaustion as he read over the announcement. His brows furrowed as he processed it all, and he let out an amused huff. "Doing well, lads....doing well indeed." he mumbled to himself, before rolling the parchment up and placing it within his satchel. As the old man began to shuffle beyond the Town Hall, he'd look up toward the Petran palace and smile. "It is good to be a Petran, indeed." he'd whisper to himself before heading home.
