The Musin town Of Babblebrook

“For Hearth and Home”

King Quill Crumlin of Clan Runeflower cordially extends invitation to all musin of Azuras as well as honored friends, to recognize several key contributors to musinkind.

It has long since been a desire of the Throne of Babblebrook to honor the musin who contribute so heavily to the knowledge, wellbeing, and longevity of our kind, and thusly, a tradition has been born.

A ceremony honoring the late King PAtchwork “Patches” Runeflower shall be held, in which he shall be added to the wall of musin heroes. bearing with it, he shall be granted  his rightful hero title.

So too shall other late musin be honored, those that inspired others, those that brought joy when there was such sorrow that filled the lands of Aevos. We remember you, and so too shall our descendants, forevermore.

These honored shall be added to texts of the remembered, names inscribed in annals under the gaze of all present.

The ceremony shall begin at midday on Sun’s Smile 270 (Sunday, Feb. 8, Noon EST), within the Hall of Heroes in Babblebrook.

Travel safely, and may the Giant guide your path.

King Quill Runeflower

Additional copies of this letter have been sent to the following, with a private message attached.

Nezukai Kikurage

@Crunchiest_Leaf

Spoiler

Lord Neukai Kikurage,
While we are split by alliances of war, I wish for nothing but your kin’s safety during these times. I understand with whole heart if you are unable to attend this gathering due to these allegiances.
May the Giant watch over you and yours,
Quill Runeflower, of Babblebrook.

The Musin Members of LANDSKAR:

Spoiler

Ruby,
Your mother and her friends shall be amongst those honored in this ceremony. She had contributed so heavily to our kind during her life, and left behind a legacy of inspiration. Should you wish to attend, you will be welcomed gladly, as will the other members of LANDSKAR, and any friends who knew your mother in life.
Sincerely, Quill

Spyglass,
While I did not know your father well, his influence on our community was boundless, and for that, he will be honored alongside the other founders of Serendipity. Should you wish to attend, you will be welcomed gladly, as will the other members of LANDSKAR, and any friends who knew him in life.
Sincerely, Quill.

Xavier Adiler

@Bird5k

Spoiler

Uncle Xavier,
I know it has been a long while since I have seen you, and I pray you and your family are well. My father spoke highly of you throughout his llfe, and it is my firm belief he would desire to have you present for this ceremony. I know not your allegiance during this war, nor if travel would be safe for you, but know that your name shall be upon a list of special guests, should you be able to attend.
Sincerely, Quill.

Grand King Ulfar Starbreaker
@Papa Rock

Spoiler

Grand King Ulfar Starbreaker,
You sheltered my family when we had little else in this world, and welcomed my people with open arms. For that, I shall always be in your debt.
While my father was not as active in Kal’Baraz as I do not doubt he wished to be, it would be a deep honor to have you present for this short ceremony. Should you be unable to attend for safety matters, I understand completely, and no insult will be taken.
He knew better than many, how dangerous travel could be during wartime.
The dwarves of Urguan are, of course, welcome to attend freely.
Sincerely, Quill “The Archer”

Thriku frostbeard read through the missive a devilish grin grew as plans of getting musin children drunk already began to form.

The Rat-Baron considers attending. Perhaps the last Lady of Crumlin, Toffee Riess, may be upon that wall.

The missive floats upon the wind, drifting beyond the rift and into Toffee's hands, wherever she is. Hm... Glad to see they're doing well. How much time has passed...? She doesn't believe she'll ever return. There's... Nothing left for her, there. Leaning upon her Wizard's staff, she continues on her trek,

[OOCly: One of these days you and I need to chat about old musin history! I want to get some older names added to these texts too - but there arent a lot of places in-game that they are written down.]

OOC: There's not much of it that isn't seen outside of the actual post on the forums. Originally, our settlement was going to be Crumlin Keep, yet we moved under Urguan instead to boost activity. Toffee was my first character and the first Musin played, who led that vassal, and canonically was the last individual in 'line' for Crumlin keep... Kinda.  She never had any kids, so that particular 'dynasty' - House Riess -  half-ends there. You'd have to go over to a cousin or something, still descended from like Musin or Crumlin whatever.

There are surely more people in line to the throne (Like Quill is able to claim, being a descendant of Musin/Crumlin/I forgot what you asked me you wanted to be a descendant of, through your house House Runeflower) like how there will always be an individual who can take the Throne of England by going to the side. But others can, theoretically (like Slorbin is secretly doing since he descends from a different, Riess-related House, House Kreischmaul, though keeping his claims very quiet) lay claim the throne of Crumlin keep, if they present some sort of argument. Of course, like real-life succession claims, they might not hold value if you don't have support. And even if your claim is slightly genealogically weaker, like Slorbin's may be -  Might makes right, after all.

This is all just old semi-headcanoned Crumlin lore, so take it as you will. Rats squabbling over petty positions in a single, dilapidated stone castle, that is now stuck in a Mori'Quessir-infested continent (Almaris)

𝓡𝓾𝓫𝔂  sets down his lute and picks up the newly arrived letter,

"Another accolade for my mother... Even in death"

He sighed deeply with mixed emotions, the pressure of the Serendipity legacy pressing on his chest.

"It would be disrespectful not to go, right?"

He'd stare at the dusty portrait of his mother and the other Founders  smiling happily in perpetuity on the wall,

"Yeah.... I have to go."

He picked up his instrument again, lightly strumming with a soft, reflective frown across his face.

[OOC: Thats awesome to hear. The Runeflowers a while back decided we too wanted to trace roots back to Crumlin. Given how long ago it was, I am not sure if Patches (who started the Runeflower Clan) was aware other lineages existed. Not that it matters TOO much, since so many generations have passed that there were likely multiple divulging lines.
Quill doesn't use the 'Crumlin' name often, only doing so during matters of what he feels to be of paramount importance. Such as ceremonies like this.
Babblebrook's leadership is interesting in that it was not picked because of that lineage, but because his people granted Patches the position for his efforts in uniting the mice.
I love seeing how musin have developed over the years. There has been such changes since Almaris - even on Aevos there were so many (with other big cultures popping up!)
I wish there were more in-game sources of info about that age. Sadly, most of the musin of that era are gone, so not many to ask. And its kinda iffy how many names/knowledge got passed down to later generations. I've been really cautious about how much Quill reasonably knows about the musin from Almaris, given how much time has passed.]
