WHAT’S CHANGED:

With the passing of Abyssal Necromancy, the method of creating a ghoul needs to be updated on the CA page itself; this post seeks to do just that. There are a number of other changes, but that's the biggest one.

The list of actual changes is relatively small and can be summed up as the following:

- All mentions of tier-4 have been changed to tier-2 instead, to fit the redlines of Lesser Transcension.

- The Rite of Summoning has been replaced entirely with Lesser Transcension, given this is the method for creating ghouls in Abyssal Necromancy.

- Clarified total # of ghouls a necromancer, Paramount Darkstalker, and Lich-Draugar may have.

- Lich-Draugars have been added to any location Paramount Darkstalkers are mentioned, as they both can now create and bind 1 ghoul to serve them.

- It has been clarified that other necromancers can claim the ghoul (with their OOC consent) per new lore, similar to how a Mystic could claim a ghoul as a ghost.

- The Progression section has been updated to reference Greater Transcension instead of the Sacrament of the Usurer, as that rite was shelved with Rh’thorean Necromancy.

- Any mention of Archlich has been purged due to their shelving / transformation into Lich-Draugars with Necromancy.

Update:

- Clarified for Summoning

- Added clarifications on the Rite of Unbinding,

This page is subject to updates since I may have missed things; if that's the case, it will be reflected here.

Rite of Summoning

Spoiler

CREATION - Rite of Summoning:

Requires: (1) Tier-4 necromancer or (1) Paramount.

Use: (1) times per month by an Paramount. (4) times per month by necromancers. (5) by an Archlich.

A tier-4 necromancer can use the rite of summoning on a deceased corpse in order to create a ghoul. This is done by imbuing life-force into the corpse, and drawing the soul of the deceased back into their body. In the process of this brutal rite, one would find that the deceased begins to lose their flesh and organs, leaving them as hollowed bones or something akin to a mangled descendant.

The necromancer in question can only use this rite (4) times in order to raise (4) Ghoul.

REDLINES:

Spoiler

The Rite of Summoning can only be used by a tier-4 necromancer who has learned all necessary tier-4 spells.

The Rite of Summoning is automatically learned by all tier-4 and above necromancers upon acceptance of this lore.

The Rite of Summoning is extremely free-form in terms of aesthetic, as long as the general idea is used, which includes pouring life-force into the corpse, and drawing their soul back into the corpse. For example, a necromancer can choose to do an occult ritual with incense and sigils to spice up the roleplay.

Upon finishing the ritual, the player who will roleplay the Ghoul must post a [CA] and wait for its acceptance. The necromancer who creates the Ghoul must comment on their [MA] for necromancy and wait for story-team to verify they are tier-4. Darkstalker Paramounts must comment their [CA] and wait for story-team to verify the are a Paramount.

The Rite of Summoning only allows (4) ghoul to be created per month when used by a normal necromancer. However, an Archlich, due to their affinity with necromancers, allows them to create (5).

The Rite of Summoning cannot be done whilst in combat. There is no emote-requirement in order to cast, as the ritual is freeform.

Ghost CAs cannot become Ghouls as there is no body to use for the Necromancer to raise. Ghoul CAs, however, can become Ghost or Paleknight CAs through a Mystic given soul transferring. This, however, is permanent once done.

CREATION - Lesser Transcension:

Requires: (1) Tier-2 necromancer or (1) Paramount Darkstalker/Lich-Draugar

Use: (1) time per week by a necromancer. (1) time per month by a Paramount Darkstalker/Lich-Draugar. (5) by an Archlich.

Over (3) emotes, a Necromancer can use this rite on a deceased corpse in order to create a ghoul. This is done by imbuing life-force into the corpse, and drawing the soul of the deceased back into their body. In the process of this brutal rite, one would find that the deceased begins to lose their flesh and organs, leaving them as hollowed bones or something akin to a mangled descendant, reviving them as a (Ghoul). Necromancers may only have up to (5) Ghouls at once; each Ghoul they create must be listed in a comment on their [MA/CA]. Necromancers can only perform Lesser Transcension (1) time an OOC week.

If a ghoul proves worthy or wishes to serve a different necromancer, a binding ritual can be done over a span of (3) emotes to replace or remove the link upon their soul. A necromancer must first manifest lifeforce and extend it towards the ghoul, establish a tether, and infuse or extract a sliver of their lifeforce to adjust the bind.

REDLINES:

Spoiler

Lesser Transcension can only be used by a tier-2 necromancer who has learned it.

The Rite of Summoning is automatically learned by all tier-4 and above necromancers upon acceptance of this lore.

This rite is extremely free-form in terms of aesthetic, as long as the general idea is used, which includes pouring life-force into the corpse, and drawing their soul back into the corpse. For example, a necromancer can choose to do an occult ritual with incense and sigils to spice up the roleplay.

Upon finishing the ritual, the player who will roleplay the Ghoul must post a [CA] and wait for its acceptance. The necromancer creating the Ghoul must comment their [MA] for necromancy and wait for story-team to verify they are tier-2. Darkstalker Paramounts and Lich-Draugars must comment their [CA] and wait for story-team to verify they have undergone Ascendancy

Lesser Elevation only allows (1) ghoul to be created per week when used by a normal necromancer. Paramount Darkstalkers and Lich-Draugars may use this ability (1) time per month. However, an Archlich, due to their affinity with necromancers, allows them to create (5).

A necromancer may have up to (5) ghouls bound to them at any given time, however they may make more - they will simply be unbound and thus subject to a PK clause unless bound by another. Paramount Darkstalkers and Lich-Draugars may have (1) ghoul bound to them. In either case, the ghoul’s [CA] must be listed on the respective [MA] or [CA].

With OOC consent, a necromancer may ensnare a different ghoul into their retinue by replacing the link upon their soul. To remove a ghoul, a necromancer may perform the binding ritual on them at any point.

If a ghoul is created whilst the necromancer is at their cap, the oldest ghoul will be unbound and subject to a PK on its next death unless a different necromancer is found to revive them.

This rite cannot be done whilst in combat.

Rite of Return

Spoiler

REVIVAL - Rite of Return:

Requires: (1) Tier-4 necromancer or (1) Paramount.

Use: (30 minute) cooldown after death. (instant) by an Archlich.

The necromancer, who once raised the Ghoul, can hear its deafening wails echo in their mind. A tier-4 necromancer can use the rite of return in order to drag the soul of a Ghoul back into the mortal-world; life-force will surge into the corpse, and force the Ghoul to rise yet again.

REDLINES:

Spoiler

The Rite of Return is a simple revival mechanic for Ghouls, without overcomplicating it.

The Rite of Return is extremely free-form in terms of aesthetic, as long as the general idea is used, which includes grasping the soul of the Ghoul and dragging it into a new corpse. For example, a necromancer can choose to draw runes and sigils on the new corpse, and then do the rite for roleplay flare.

The necromancer who raised them can hear the wails of their deceased Ghoul, signifying its death.

Upon finishing the ritual, the Ghoul-player can continue to play their persona.

A tier-four necromancer or paramount must wait (30) minutes after the death of the Ghoul before reviving them. However, an Archlich may do this instantly.

The Rite of Return cannot be used in combat. This is done to avoid a Ghoul instantly being revived after being felled in combat. There is no emote-requirement in order to cast, as the ritual is freeform.

If a Ghoul is killed, a Mystic may raise it as a Ghost or Paleknight CA, severing it from the Necromancer. This, however, requires OOC consent from the ghoul player. This change cannot be reversed once done.

The Necromancer in control of the ghoul will hear its wail upon death, but also be aware of its severing from bound servitude if turned into a Ghost. They, however, do not know any specifics of the severing. Only that the Ghoul is no longer in control.

Progression

Spoiler

PROGRESSION

A Ghoul may eventually become a Darkstalker should the 'Sacrament of Usurer' be cast on them, their soul dipped into a Heith-Hedran, and then bound by an object of affection (Momento Mori). However, not all Ghouls are selected for this progress - usually, it being those who the necromancers see to be most useful. This follows all redlines of 'Sacrament of Usurer', which is a spell used to raise darkstalker. As stated, this can only be done (1) time per month, and takes up the darkstalker slot for that one month used by those four necromancers.

PROGRESSION

A Ghoul may eventually become a Darkstalker or Draugar should they undergo the rite of 'Greater Transcension' (detailed in Abyssal Necromancy) and be subsequently bound to an object of affection (Memento Mori). However, not all Ghouls are selected for this progress - usually, it being those who the necromancers see to be most useful. This follows all mechanics and redlines of Greater Transcension. As stated, this can only be done (1) time per month, and takes up the darkstalker/draugar slot for that month when performed by those three necromancers.
