I'm a day late cause I nearly forgot but I've now officially been active on LotC for a whole year. Hooray!! 🎉🎉🎉

My first try at the server didn't go great. While waiting for my whitelist app to be approved I ran around the map as a wandering soul, “window shopping” for where I wanted to start off. Lurin truly spoke to me, from the architecture to the fact it was inclusive (I think it was mentioned somewhere that it had a mixed population) to its religion (Eshtael). I wanted my first persona to be from there and had it be part of her backstory.

That first persona was Thalis Thornfield. I got whitelisted on that persona and soon (very soon, I swear I’ll get to it) I’ll write her pk post. I got to running around, exploring, trying to understand how the server worked and to be entirely honest: it was confusing, frustrating and kinda boring. I couldn’t understand why players were just standing still, how I was meant to get resources, gates at Lurin were down and I wasn’t confident or comfortable enough to start joining discords and pinging gate guards. I didn’t even know how to dm people in game, let alone how to contact anyone to get housing or get started.

I ended up settling in Ledna, a -at the time- new vassal of Norland. I fed some cows, ran around, managed to buy alchemist shears and was given a notebook by a dwarf and then didn’t log on again for months.

Moving forward to 2025, the idea of Thalis and the desire to try out roleplay never quite left me. I was going through some tough personal times (something I’m finding to be a theme for many lotcers) and so I decided to give the server another chance. I was already whitelisted and I still remembered all the cool places it had so I found the google doc I’d made for the persona and logged on.

Once more I found myself confused and lost. Many places that had been active back then seemed to be entirely gone. I wanted to properly find Lurin but I couldn’t and after some searching I found out the place was gone.I took a leap and made a post explaining my plight so that I could perhaps get some help or direction and Mika messaged me (or left a comment I don’t remember) and gave me some hints.

What followed were two very memorable hours. I scourged the forums for any hint as to where Cerulia might be, finding a single, small hint in a forum post describing the place, mentioning the tundra. I set off to find just that, a trip that led me to a small village at the edges of Ailmere, what would grow to be my favourite place on Aevos. There I met two characters who at the time -not knowing better- I was convinced were giants of some sort, who told my character the place was cursed, the people their enemies. They told Thalis not to go there and she convinced them to help her. I was led to the bastion where I was lucky Edvard was there and I finally managed to get a home.

The first person I met, the one who truly in many ways took me under her wings was Gwen ( @Xein000 ). She was very patient with me, both icly and oocly and was my very first teacher in many ways. From Gwen, Thalis learned housemagery, her very first magic, one I used more than any other along with alchemy. She took me to many interesting places like the auction house.

Funny story: she took me there so I could look about selling some wine another player had given my character and I put that wine in the bidding barrel XD. Xein got it back for me :3.

My first few weeks were spent exploring, exploring, exploring. I mapped out Ailmere and grew to truly love it, a love I transferred to my persona who loved the tundra more than any other place in Aevos.

It was a meeting with Anaire (RoyalSheep) that acted as my first important rp. They demanded we roleplay as they were bored and I was eager to interact with such a cool looking character.

I took her to the everwinter forest, my favourite place on the map and there I got my first taste of what great emotes look like. There was mystery and emotion, Thalis got to open up about the loss of her family, she cried. I cried. The first of many roleplay interactions to make me feel genuine emotions.

I think it was that moment that won me and made me want to stay here and be part of LotC. That feeling of expression, that I was part of a wider story so great it could make me feel genuine emotion.

I won’t talk much about Thalis here as she is a post of her own. My very first persona played until her death, nearly a year after I became active. She was a self-insert and at the same time a character who developed purely based on roleplay with no real plans as to who she would become (the few plans I did have didn’t pan out).

I will talk about my second ever persona thought: Khel’ahern.

A few months into the server I was offered to play a vampire. I am a sucker for vampires. I love my Lestat, my Astarion, my Damon Salvatore and yes my Edward Cullern (I just ******* love vampires ok?).

Khel’ahern was a vampire before anything else. I was getting more involved with Haelun’or at that point and I took huge inspiration from their culture. (I think I’m notorious for never playing a proper, pure Haelun’orian elf.) Khel’ahern was the antithesis of purity. A darkspawn, pretty much insane to the point of being self-destructive, he was a delight to play. Funnily enough, despite having been offered to play a vampire, Khel’ahern was turned on a genuine chance encounter which largely reinforced the notion that rp is better when it happens naturally (though I’m not against planning some rp, I think sometimes it’s worth it and also I’m busy irl, some planning is sadly needed.)

What I learnt from Khel’ahern is that I really enjoy playing insane villains :3. (Another fun fact: Khel’ahern was one of the main reasons Hick went into his evil, insane arc. @PotatoFan117).

I could go on and on, about great rp moments, about how the war affected me on this map (some bad, some good, some great).

But it’s getting super late and I desperately need to sleep. If you made it this far, thank you for reading, to those I’ve roleplayed with, thank you for making my experience on LotC amazing, I love you all so much <3.

Don't have a favorite dinosaur but I love cats!

I'm between Princess Bride and RRR. Love them each for many reasons, they're awesome, you should watch them.

There are so many but by far my favorite was the last meeting between Khel'ahern and his creator Eclispse, where Khek had a full on mental breakdown.

Our recent rp with the fight against the Black Church in Caurost is a close second.

I was looking for servers to play on and was drawn by the idea of roleplay. I've always wanted to exist in a fantasy themed world and LotC was advertised as such.

Initially nothing kept me. I found the server confusing and overwhelming and didn't stick around when I first joined.

It was nearly a year later (I think... Not too good with keeping time) that I decided to give LotC a second try cause the idea of it and the lore still seemed interesting to me. I made a post about being new and the fact that the place I had first planned to rp didn't exist anymore (Lurin) and Mika dmed me that there were survivors (Cerulia) and then left me to find it on my own. This provided enough of a challenge and direction to get going, explore and meet other players in a meaningful way until I finally found the place a good 2 hours later.

After that it was honestly a bunch of really good rp moments that made me start loving the server. I might add more toy he post once I get home about my experiences on LotC, since I made this AMA during my break at work XD.

Hey at least you made top 10, poor Wolfy didnt even get a spot XD.

Khel’rost was the first person Thalis met who proved a genuine interest and mystery to her and he was as much a mentor to her as Gwen was.

On her first visit to the Mages Tower someone came over to let one of the people running the place (don’t remember who it was) know that Khel’rost was a xionist. Guy walked in like a few minutes later none the wiser that he had been ousted -and that said head of the tower didn’t believe it but honestly I wasn't in the know about this.) I remember standing there with Aether (Tantuni), asking him icly if that was the xionist with 0 concept of what that even was.

Khel’rost provided Thalis with her first direction on where to find a teacher for water evocation and was the main catalyst for her becoming a student to Acal’maehr, joining Haelun’or and meeting and befriending many of her loved ones, including her bests friends Aurelith ( @pexchysa ), Hymnal ( @Mynto ) and Elkash. I can confidently say that he played a pivotal role in the direction her life took.

He remained a steadfast friend and mentor to her literally her entire life and someone she greatly cared about. When I do make the pk post you'll be mentioned worry not :3.

I LOVE spicy food!! I love it too much, I ate some today. I'm not sure what's too spicy, my adiction make me keep eating it and that raises my tolerance so I end up going for even spicier.
