Oh herro dere Skyrim'rs!

I've been thinking on what to do as my first Skyrim mod, ever since I finished my last Oblivion one. An idea came to me whilst talking in OOC yesterday, so whilst I lay in bed, I sat with a notebook scribbling down a massive pile of worthless notes - undreadable.

These worthless notes inspired me to move the project from a plan for a small town, onto a whole continent. What am I talking about? Aegis - in Skyrim.

I spent over a year working on a New Lands project for Oblivion, which I later abandoned. I also spent a long time making an extensive amount of mods for Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. These mods required me to do hundreds, upon hundreds of scripts, as many were personal mods, for my game which changed some very small aspects of the game.

So, what I've got planned is recreating Aegis 2.0 in Skyrim. Y U NO DO AEGIS 1.0 U NUB? I am not doing this for our current map, as it's way too big. However, if I do it with 2.0 I can create content on the mod, as it's created on the Server.

This isn't any small project, and I won't be working alone. I have a lot of contacts in the modding community, who I'll be getting involved - mainly modelers, texturers and animators.

The architecture you see in Minecraft, can be very difficult to recreate in a different game, believe me - I've tried. (It's easier the other way round! >,>). A lot of the buildings and structures you'll see in the mod will be my deviatons using content from Skyrim, although a lot of them will also be created by some of my friends in the modding community.

This mod will be hosted in multiple locations around the internet, mainly the main hubs for Modding, and a lot of people who actually take part in modding are avid Minecrafters, and they are all fans of RPG's. This means not only will our current community have a modification created just for them, but this project will also bring a pile of new members to the server!

What do I need from the current members of the community? At the moment, not much, however when Aegis 2.0 comes out, I'll need a lot of ideas and support from you. For now all I need is a basic character profile. I'm going to put a massive amount of NPC's in the mod, and they'll all be members of the server, and do what those members do.

For example: if I was doing this for 1.0 - you'd have Ingot wandering from Alras and past Galahar. Rio, wandering around Galahar, Fosmil sitting in her fort, and robbing the occasional victim. Myself, jumping around at the Galahar fountains, then running into Alk and dying. Your characters will be doing what you do, thanks to Skyrims epic AI system.

COMPETITION TIME! o.o

The mod needs a title... 'Lord of the Craft in Skyrim' 'Aegis in Skyrim' both sound, quite frankly crap. Whoever comes up with the best title, will become one of the beta-testers! <3 They'll also have their name mentioned on the load screen, as well as the credits.

Support for the mod

I'm planning on having the support base for the mod on these forums, as it is a mod about LotC, however, I don't know if that'll be possible. *shrugs* I'll have to talk to Vaq about it.

Character Creation

The character creation will be done differently from Skyrims. Yes, you will still have the window that opened up in Skyrim, where you could preview your character etc, but it will be altered to give a more LotC feel. Also, Skyrims races will no longer exist. I'll be implementing each race and subrace from Lord of the Craft into it.

When you first start the mod, you'll have to start a new game, at which point you will be taken to whatever is replacing Cloud Temple, and you will define your character, then you can set out on your adventures.

Soul Stones

I am planning in implementing soul stones to the mod, so you'll have a item in your inventory that will teleport you to your Capital City.

Design Process

Creating a "New Lands" modification is a lot of work. This mod will take months to make, if not longer, so I'll be updating you regularly. This is basically the way the mods going to be worked on then released:

Extra Content, Expanding on existing content. - 0%

Beta Release 2 - N/A

Bug-Fixes - 0%

The mod would be released quicker, however it's at a standstill until: A - Aegis 2.0 is released and B - Bethesda decide to release their mod tools (January at some point).

All that myself, and you can currently do is begin with the ideas, and hopefully get some sounds done! If you wish for your character to be featured in the modification then please, do record some files with what you want them to say! Please do!

Creation Process

Skyrim features a massive variety of entilties for me to use, from trees, to caverns, to buildings. Obviously, I ain't going to make everything square and blocky. Think of this as an alternative to the blockyness of Minecraft, and instead explore in the smoothness, and curvyness of Skyrim! (Cheesy is my middle name. D:) I will be making a heightmap that has the worlds landscape on it, then I shall move onto the detailing of roads, and marking locations. I wont place every tree by hand, etc, that will be done by the magic of region generation, which featured in Bethesda's previous mod tools, so there isn't any reason for it not to be in the Skyrim ones. Once the heightmap, location marking, and region generating is complete, I will move onto actually creating locations. The location creation will begin with the most important places - Spawn, Race Capitals etc, then it will move onto towns, and landmarks. Eventually, it will finish with the houses on the sides of the road. After the most important locations are finished, and before I work on the less important places (homes, villages and small towns), the NPC's will be introduced. The NPC's featured will be of people who regularly can be found in areas. E.G. A specific guard by a city gate, a merchant in his shop, a bar-keeper in his bar. To begin with these NPC's will have no special settings, or offer no epic services. Once I've got them set up however, I will work on making them work as actual barkeepers, actual store owners, and actual guards. This is a lot of work, and I'd love if you could help out, in the ways I will detail later.

Concept art / further planning will commense on the release of Aegis 2.0, as I have no idea on what the new map is like.

Actual progress on the mod will commense when Bethesda release the modding tools.

Characters personality: Almost child like, indifferent most of the time, Giggles when she is killing someone, evil.

Characters location: On a Main road, or Tavern leading people to there death.

Morrigan is now poor and friendless and the only joy she gets is from torturing and killing the citizens of aegis.

Never played skyrim, don't think I am ever, but I think it will be pretty cool for my brother to see my character when he plays your mod :3

Morrigan can be in some way - a murderer.

I can't believe more people havn't responded! This is the best idea ever! While I'd be lying if I said I didn't have doubts about whether you could pull this off in the epic fashion described I have a lot of hope that this gets off the ground. Fus Roh Damnnnn: Bringing LoTC to Skyrim.

Characters location: In the Mage's Guild Tower

Character daily schedule: Pretty much help people. Also he is the head teacher of the Mage's Guild so he will help train new people. Also will only protect the Mage's Guild. He also would learn more and more spells as the day's go by. He grasps it pretty quickly as well. He will mainly stick to Healing and Destruction magic as well.

Character biography: [ Do I have to? I would just like it sort of mysterious for the mod if possible. Sort of Change Del up if you know what i mean. ]

Characters Age: Whichever age is appropriate for an elf. 127?

Characters personality:Quick witted, but is known to rush into situations when angered. Reserved and does not care much for the needs of others. He does not see much point to life and as such only lives for fun and excitement-which sometimes leads him to take advantage of others. He is slightly jealous of other people and the nice things they have, if Elrith acts upon this jealousy he could be seen shaming others to boost his self esteem.

Characters voice:(If you want a file with a voice than ill post it later) Slighty deep with a sarcastic tone.

Characters location: you may not be able to fill this part in until the new map-

Character daily schedule: see above Elrith is always looking for fun and as such i would imagine him being inside a large city, maybe trying to coax someone into a scheme or causing trouble.

Character biography: this will be used to set what your character will speak about in the mod

Raised by mother, Elrith wound up as a street rat and not being able to afford any of the normalities and comforts that other kids had Elrith found ways to have his own fun. When When Elrith was in his Pubescent years his mother garned a sickness which would have been harmless had it been treated soon. When none of the doctor(shamans/medicenal caretakers?) would help her she died. Fueled by this Elrith develpoed a hatred of the upper class.

I will beta test this friend! I would help make it, but as you see, well, I forgot half of that stuff after a year of not using it. Lol. . . Also, one quest for the Skyrim mod could be to beat/sabotage Shift's beard.

Possibly, one of the easter eggs I had planned. *smiles* Your beta-testing skills will be useful!
