Somethings To Consider When Creating A Guild

Okay, so I've noticed quite a few guild's have popped up over the past few months. Which is fine, but half of these have very bare quality of RP, and most of them are created for the sole purpose of the player wanting... well, more.

If you really want to create a new guild, consider the following.

  1. Do you already have a base?

I've seen many a person make a base, so that they almost force this guild's officialness. Dun do it guys, because you've got to have rockhard lore before you're considered good.

  2. Are you in it for the power?

Again, don't do this. It reflects very badly on you, and it's not fun for others.

  3. Do you have pre-determined lore? Is it accepted?

So many guilds are just a list of rules and app forms. I think that this really detracts, I want to know why you were formed? Who formed you? Stay away from being age old guilds, it doesn't fit pre-determined lore. And stay away from setting up a guild by yourself.

  4. What is your roleplay like?

Do/will your members be incredible, day long RP'ers who put others first OOCly? Or are you all badass Iblees/Zamach worshippers who like to torture orcs and feed them to terrified halflings? Are you going to enhance roleplay, or detract from it? Remember, I set up the Dark Brotherhood because I thought outside assassination contracts would be permadeath. So, does your guild fit LotC mechanics?

  5. Do you require VAs?

All guilds which do something slightly villainous require VAs. This includes things like:
    -Assassinations
    -Iblees/Zamach worship
    -Bandits
    -Thieves
    -Cannibals
    -Klompin'
    -Mercenarys

Anything not mentioned here requires common sense, so if you want it putting up anyway PM me.

  6. And finally, what is your TRUE purpose?

I've seen so many Assassins and Undead hunters it's unbelievable. Why not break from the norm and set up the Black Hand's new rival? Or maybe even another thieves guild? Don't stick to the stereotypes. Guild's can also have secondary purposes which must be hinted at. So, I might make a front for the Black Hand, Asulonian Trading Company* which has a mission statement of "Delivering Goods for the Greater Good!**", but then I hint at it's ties. Geddit? Not only does this create some interesting RP when someone misunderstands, but it also means you can relly be cryptic. This isn't required, but think of the possibilities...

So now, this is up to you. If you have an improvement for the formatting, tell me and I'll change it, I'm not that good at formatting. PM me with any questions and remember, this isn't official but I made the first ever guild so I know what I'm on about.

I agree with this thread 100% I have seen too many of those "Im gonna save all of Aegis from the Undead" guilds popping up all over the place and its really annoying. When I released my guild, I tried to keep it as original as possible, not sticking to all those assassin guilds or guilds like "the Dark dark of black darkness". People should really think about it before creating a guild.

Create it because you want to introduce new, interesting and original rp to LOTC not just because you want to lead a group. I you want the latter, then why not join a guild and make your way up?

Anyways good post and great points.

Perhaps add this:

(something along these lines, and couldat it to the are you in fro the power question)

When you make a guild make it for improving the general roleplay.

I understand that it is fun to have your own band of people that follow you and trust you, but a guild shouldn't be about power, it should be about good and fun rp.

Latly I see guilds comming from everywhere and they all die soon, if you want to survive in this ahrd world then you need to be original

(wow this psot sucks, I'll edit it later but gotta go now any way nicely done ninja)

/sigh.

I am disappointed at many and their crude attempts to rouse a group of people. Most fail but some have potential.

Sadly, these "Guilds" are ruining the section and completely burying our well-made topics into oblivion.
