Sauros kneels beside Ashkhadar as he observes the map in full clarity, his eyes affixing to the red lines...

Map.png

Drawing his dust-clad fingers across the map and nods, signifying his approval of such plans, he looks towards Ashkhadar and informs him to gather the assistance of the Kotansmani to assist him with such tasks and withdraws. As he walks away, he looks over his shoulders and cries out to Ashkhadar that the piston parts have been successfully salvaged, ready to be put to use and says a short wish of success to Ashkhadar before ascending the bluff that his yurt rests upon.

QUEST UNLOCKED - RIVER'S LENGTH

Sauros and Ashkhadar have discussed the possibility and viability of controlling the mouth of the river delta. For those ambitious in their sailing to attempt to explore into territories deemed crucially under their control, one can look no further than the very river delta that opens up into the southern edge of the continent. Control of such a river delta is crucial as well as ensuring the rivers connect will allow quicker passage on canoes to Enismor and Boria as well as shorter time to arrive to a nearby nation.

Ashkhadar being the fledgling engineer he is is wrought with ambition, but plagued with naivete. He is idealizing after the rivers are connected, a chain that can be lifted and lowered along the mouth of the delta that will stop all small ships and river travelers from entering into the river system. If such an ambition is impossible, he will reluctantly accept the building of a dam.

(OOC: The quest is in two parts, you cannot gain access to the chest holding piston parts until members of the Subudai or 'affiliated' parties participate in connecting the river systems, then RPly Ashkhadar will give you the key to the lock AKA I will add you to chest permissions to access the piston parts for the second part of the quest.)

As Sauros ascends the bluff, two scribes by the name of Magor and Skunxa approach and flank his sides and begin to walk in unison. Bowing his head to hear the two speak, one after the other, he learns that the Kotansmani have failed to help Skunxa to see to writing a schematic. Cursing under his breath, Sauros nods towards Magor and informs him to approach Kotansmani about helping him by Sauros's orders.

As Magor flocks towards the desert, where the ballista and trebuchet stand; Skunxa informs Sauros about the Baradun Warband of the Ancient Dervas and how Ragnorak and Lykos had found a tomb hidden under the earth discovered when a Jahvid had broken the water-table and the well collapsed into the tomb. Sauros stops and searches within his memory while staring at the granules of sand beneath the two, near the yurt, and looks up quickly and tells Skunxa to search out Kotansmani willing to head towards the Twin Statues southeast of the camp; guarding the strait that separates the two continents. With that, Sauros and Skunxa part ways and Sauros returns to tending to the affairs of the camp once more...

QUEST UNLOCKED - THE BARADUN CAMPS

Sauros remembers the stories of old, how the Dervas and the Subudai had split from Trinskiril; the ancient lands of the Hansetians. Knowing that the population was outgrowing the feasible shares of fertile land in Southwest Trinskiril, two groups of people had agreed to migrate for greener pastures, one being the nomadic Subudai and the other being the stoic Dervas. The Dervas however, being the first to depart, had become lost within the Eastern Winterlands, only to seemingly have been found to have migrated northward. Whilst it is known, after a short encounter between Sauros Alanbataar and Hogarth Ironfist, that the Dervas eventually arrived where the modern Dwarves arrived, it is not particularly known the entirety of the migration pattern that the Dervas took. Between the encounter of Sauros and Hogarth, Sauros learns of a Dwarven Archaeologist by the name of Kiror Yemerdorn, but unfortunately had no success in finding Kiror; leaving him to believe Kiror had died.

The Kotansmani of the Subudai have deepened respect for the Dwarves, both ancient and modern, pre-cursed and post-cursed by Iblees in the First Age and refuse to engage in aggression against them as they have an undeterred respect for their ancestors. Search for the Twin Statues and search meticulously, be careful for the studded mountain line that is prone to allow the unacclimated Kotansmani to fall great heights.

(OOC: I am making Dervas ruins, I will be progressing this to some interesting quests, enjoy!)

QUEST REMAINS - SCHEMATICS OF THE SIEGE

Magor approaches the trebuchet that sits idle within the desert, making note of the fashioned wood and sinew that seems to keep the machine together. As he nears it, he keenly finds two men sneakily attempting to hide behind the arms of the trebuchet, their bulkiness giving themselves away. Within a few footsteps, the two warriors clumsily attempts to surprise and scare Magor, but trips themselves and fall into the sand. The three men curse, for different reasons, and Magor clutches the papyrus scroll within his hand as the two warriors stand back up, unaccustomed to the sands and shout that they are of the Ulfgar Kotan and dispute why Magor has arrived. Barking out his orders from Sauros, the Ulfgars shuffle their shoulders and with a degree of embarassment, climb back atop the trebuchet and resume their guard.

(I cannot stress this enough, it may seem menial, but RPly, we need to reverse engineer any siege weapons we steal so that we can actually learn and reproduce them. Nomads were not Greeks, we were not building Onagers and Scorpios by the tens and hundreds. Please assist this quick quest.)

*Lupus pins a note to Sauros's tent and walk of towards the west in search of game"

*written within is*

"Sauros I have made a channel for the waterway along the designated path. Though I have concerns for about a few things.

1. The sand banks to either side of the waterway nearist the camp may prove problematic in the future. I fear for landslides blocking the water way. I sel permission to dig out the sandbanks above the rivers sides enough to ensure safety for the time being.

2. There are several cave mouths and fissures along the chosen water path that need to be filled in and covered over to prevent any accidents along the way.

3. There is a more important matter....the difference in water levels of the small pool just north of the camp and the larger lake further north is large. The lake farthest north where the waterway will end is shallower then the nearer pool. I have concerns that any large vessels traveling through tge waterway may be beached on the shallow lakebed before they link up with the main river. I would think the use of Delthors explosives could deepen the shallows in the lake sufficiently for larger vessels to get through safely.

Sauros exits his tent solemnly in full garb, his thobe underneath his finely crafted and threaded lamellar chain armor. His goatee nicely trimmed and his eyes darting from tent to tent, he sees the slowly yet determined rise of his Kotansmani as horns are blown from the various Noyans such as Timur calling forth the Kotansmani to form the Horde. Without many minutes passing, he walks roughly between the many tents as the Ulfgar ready their battle-axes, the Kirvel cinch tight their chainmail and notorious helmets with their nose-pieces laying flatly downward from the helm. He barks out orders to his Noyans to gather the Syrmataes of the Mongol and Jahvid Kotans; quickly receiving his command with a great many Mongols strumming their composite bows and Jahvids sharpening their scimitars.

The Four Syrmataes scramble through the affairs and workings of the Kotansmani scattered across camp to reach Sauros's side; acquiring the reasoning for raising the Horde so suddenly. Sauros smirks with a sharp angle against his right cheek and looks to Varin, Tavros, Manuchehr, and Vladivoj and informs them that he is intent on collapsing the Alrasian Kingdom before Alras itself objects to it's downtrodden state and attempts to pick itself back up. Looking to Varin specifically, he urged Varin to remember when the Subudai had raided Vigil Keep and the horrid information they had revealed onto themselves from such raid.

Varin looks up to the beating sun above for a moment's time and lowers his head replying that he did remember. Sauros invokes that Alras, due to records they kept, had seemingly allied with the 'Mew'ri'Khazar' as he would always say; a race he had no likings for. Through such diplomacy, it was felt that Alras's dealings with cause trepidation amongst those lying around their borders. To allow that a tunnel be built somehow, with whatever magic intended...

2012-06-09_035813.png

Was something that Sauros dreaded. Looking towards his Syrmatae and continuing, he explained further. The very fact that Alras stood empty and laid barren would cause much concern that other nations or peoples would attempt to gain a foothold into the continent in which the Subudai rested upon for the time being. To allow such land to sit idle would be a foolish mistake that could lead to unprecedented consequences and it was imperative that the Subudain Horde ensured that Alras would crumble into the right hands.

Noticing one of his Kotansmani, Ragnorak; he told Ragnorak to inform the four Syrmatae of the meeting that he attended alongside Sauros in a nearby city. Ragnorak extended his feet with a stretch and told how he and Sauros had acquainted themselves with a Dervas by the name of Bazian Grandaxe. This Dervas informed the Subudai that his people were also interested in the fall of Alras for their own reasons. With that, Sauros turns to the Syrmatae and informs them that he will send a party off towards Karik to hopefully send word of his desire to cooperate with his ancestor's children to carry forth victory into their two hands. Retracting into his yurt for a short time, he comes back out and gives a letter to one of his Noyans to send forth to the Dervas Kingdom. Inside the nicely folded papyrus scroll, it reads:

"To Bazian Grandaxe, with respect and due diligence, from Sauros Alanbataar. I remember fondly our conversation in the past few elven days and come with you word that I keep my action responsive of my intent and words, I am extending a hand of support and cooperation in possible attack with Alras. I am not, nor are my Kotansmani very aware of the surroundings of the Dervas Kingdom and thus we could only see to it that you receive this letter, rather than any other high-positions. That being said, it would be my pleasure to discuss the fate of Alras and I remember fondly your explanation that Kal'Alras has wronged grievously the Dervas in the past and do not wish to hold back from offering you your chance for due retribution. I relinquish to you a chance to participate in the downfall of Alras."

After seeing off the Noyan and his men, he turns once more to his Syrmatae and express his desire to sack the Library of Alras, but to leave the books of their histories to be quenched with water and to allow the inks to fill the streets that they will invade...

Ragnorak wandered around the camp waiting for the raiding force to come. Much to his disapontment very few show. Around 4 other tribes men went with him. At first they were doing ok and found a small nest that they recked. What happend next was not good. They were organized well Ragnorak had organized them into 2 groups 3 men were armed with sabers and axes. The other group with bows.

They were going through the spiders easily spured on by Ragnorak who showed amazing comand for one so young. He seemed to have an air of command around him as they advanced but there were to many spiders. The eggs continued to hatch and they continued to pour down apon them and they started to get over ran. If it hadn't been for Vladivoj and his Kirvel warriors they would have been slain.

They charged forward with axes and were able to drive back the spiders. Ragnorak helped to drive them back now with 2 less members and another one dieing. He helped hold back the spiders while Vladivoj whent throu a passege way behind the nest. He found a body within it and a report on the beasts.

With that they retreted Vladivoj heading off to tell Sauros about what they had found while Ragnorak stayed back and organized the 2 groups to rest and heal back up. In the end the casulties were prety high 3 of Ragnoraks band died and a few of Vladivoj's. Now they rest while they wait for Sauros's response.

Standing around a great fire pit, lit alight at the Ulfgar Kotan Circle, Sauros gathers many citizenry, hunters, fishermen, but most prominently a starkly contrasted conglomeration of people of different cultures from Enismor, Boria, Didymo, the Subudai, and the lands between the growing City-States. Sitting cross-legged, tucking his thobe underneath his bottom, he begins to speak; looking around at the variant faces and making much eye contact as he speaks.

He informs the peoples of Levanthus about the encounter he had with the Uruk-hai, especially that of the Great Rex; leader of the Cultured Orcs. He spoke about how they had requested tribute as the Subudai unknowingly rested on Lur Land, chortling as he notices a few frowns coming from the Ulfgars and a few objections sprinkled within the audience. He raises a hand to shoulder-height and demands silence, informing them that it is their culture to seek action rather than words, how the Orcs asking for tribute is not to insult or degrade, but to see who proves themselves one who acts; rather than one who just talks thus one who allows themselves to lie, betray, and insult. He rocks himself back and forth as he explains that just as he knows Levanthus wants respect for their varied culture, they must provide respect to others and that interactions towards the Orcs must be true and endearing.

He opens his palms upward as he tells them that he will ensure another tribute be paid and a Kotansmani sent forth to brave a klomp with one of the Uruk-hai; resting one open palm over his heart as he ensures that the tribute is not one exaggerated and that the Uruks themselves understand that as nomads, they are not capable of much mining. Informing them of his intent on discussing the chance to keep the plains as Subudai territories with the Lur, he looks towards the Jahvid. He discusses that if the Lurs verily wish to keep the plains, he will migrate the Subudai one last time into the Eastern Sands; into the desert that they've grown accustomed to.
