Out of character

Minecraft character name:sonomavc_012

Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No.

How old are you?: I am 13 years old.

Time zone/Country of residents: USA pacific time.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes, I do very well in my English class. Of coarse, I am only thirteen so that is as far as my English studies have taken me.

Two to three sentence description of yourself: I am a boy that goes to a very good school and who likes to play sports at a high level. Other than that, there are few other things that I do other than play minecraft. For better or for worse this is the truth.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: The time I am able to play minecraft weekly depends on how busy my week is and how much homework I have. This is the reality of being thirteen. However, I am typically able to play three to four hours on week days, and four to five on weekends. I try to make sure I consistently play no less than at least two hours each day for this server especially.

What do you know about role playing? Give a definition of what it means to you. Role playing is where you get to forget everything you did that day, maybe even every thing that you did that week, and enter a new world inside a different you. When you look out of your new eyes, you see your creations, your new pride and joy, created by your imaginary hard work of your imaginary labor, and others doing the same.

In your own words, describe what Metagaming, and Powergaming are.

>Metagaming, is where you use outside knowledge to you advantage in the game. It also allows you to look at minecraft in a different way which others may not be able too, and gives you an unfair advantages over other players. A good example of this is, say someone sends you a text or a message on Skye, that there is an abandoned underground base at a certain coordinate.

>Powergaming, is where you leave someone in a position where the only posible outcome, is that you kill them. This could include someone being trapped in a conner or mabey they have their back to a cliff, then you decide to kill them with out any RP, or any chance of them surviving. This is something that can, just like metagaming, be very brutal and can make playing on a server unappealing. Powergaming would be acceptible on most regular pvp servers but not an RP server.

What do you expect this server to be like?: I have played on a few servers since I start playing minecraft. A few of them were faction servers, and most recently a town server. Each of these servers was in some way a role playing server. However, I did not experience any role play what so ever. I imagined faction servers as a server where you join a group of people and you work together to take over another faction, and thus acquiring more items and being able to take on bigger and better things. I was very disappointed in what I found. In this server, I hope to see more "playing for a purpose" or playing towards a goal. For example, instead of just going mining for the sake of mining, I would like to go mineing to be able to build armor for the towns people, or maybe to create a nether portal. Another thing that I expect from this server, is a community that wants to work together towards a common goal.

What other server (s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: like I said before, I have played on a few faction servers and a town server. I left all of them because nobody was “playing for a purpose”. No one was trying to work together towards a goal. I was looking for a server that had people wanted to work together and engage. Basically I was looking for a true RP server and I believe I have found just that.

Have you read understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes I have, if I had not, I would not be typing this.

How did you here about us?: I had just uploaded a skin to minecraft skins pro ( I am an avid skin maker, if for some reason you would like to see my skins, they are on minecraftskins pro, and the author name is sonomavc_012) Then I saw a category called "lord of the craft" I figured I should take a look at it. Then I realized that the skins were meant for a server. I had been looking for a large server before and figured I might as well check it out. And here I am now typing this application that could allow me to play on your server.

Have you voted for us on mine status, what vote number were you? : No I have not, sorry. As soon as I can get a feel for what the server is like, I will.

What is your forum account name? Sonomavc_012

In character.

Character name: I prefer to be called Sono, but anything close to my full name is fine.

What is your race?: Dwarf.

Biography: Sono was a short, fair skinned boy with brownish blond hair. He was born in a village of fighters and legends. An elite few that choose to live in a practical, secret manner rather than that of humans in large, above ground houses. Their history had been untainted and their prestigious recognition, unchallenged. Until one day, when Sono was just shy of five, there underground Utopia, was attacked. They had been unprepared and the few that stayed to fight were slaughtered with dishonor. Sono and his family had been allowed to leave and to not fight because of Sono’s young age. Unfortunately, his father was shot by an arrow that was only wielded by orcs, as they were attempting to flee. He was wounded, but not dead and taken to become part of the orc slave force. The rest of Sono’s family and the survivors regrouped and built a highly efficient underground base.

As Sono grew older, so did the community he was in, he was a model citizen and was recognized by his superiors as he was among the few people that had been in the city from the beginning. All of the original survivors had been part of the first government, except for Sono because he was still not old enough. He had been told be many people that he would for sure be elected as soon as he was old enough to be a diplomat. Yet there was one thing that he lacked that would he knew would make him be a bad diplomat. Trust. He trusted few people. He trusted his brothers, for he had bonded with them in battle and in the mines. He also trusted his mother, for she was the one that had guided him throughout his child hood, but few others. The reason he didn't trust anyone was because it was trust that caused his father to be captured. His father was a great fighter, and was asked to move from his house in the wilds, to the old city. At first he was hesitant to join but then they told him that the wilds were a dangerous place, especially for children, and that their family would be completely safe. He decided to put his trust in the community and it had served him well, until that dreadful day that Sono still had nightmares about. His mother had told him time and again, that he needed to put a little more faith in people and that the past was the past and that he should be more worried about what was happening now. Being a stubborn dwarf however, he refused to change his opinion. He had become so paranoid that he gave few things to the community, which was completely against the rules. Every mina, every diamond, he saved for himself.

However, one day his life changed. He was out in the desert collecting cacti ,when, all of a sudden, a band of orcs appeared from the plains. He was unarmed, with only an axe that he was using to cut down the cacti. He knew it was hopeless, but he decided he would go down fighting. As he drew his axe, a volley of arrows appeared in the sky, they penetrated the orcs, and they died instantly. It had been the people from the city that had followed him and protected him! By some miracle they had appeared there and saved Sono’s life! Sono had been so close to death that his life had flashed before his eyes. From that moment on he decided that he should trust more people, and when he returned he told the city about him hording items and minas, and said he would except what ever punishment they decided he deserved. Sono expected something along the lines of a loss of privileges maybe a beating as his punishment, but what the superiors had decided for him blew him away. He was to be exiled. He was sent off with a stack of bread, cobble and leather armor. He was told never to return to that city again. He past town after town, collecting what he could on the move. Most of the towns welcomed him with open arms, and had sympathy for his hard times. But still, he is searching for the perfect town to reside in.

What are your characters ambitions?: Sono now likes to please, he would like to join a community where he is welcomed and his work is recognized. He likes building public facilities and working in groups to wage wars against enemies.

Out in the wilds, your character come across a small cottage. Outside there appears to be an elf, struggling in combat with two bandits. What does your character do?: As a dwarf, his first instinct is to fight. But Sono is smarter than that. He decides to lure the bandits into a trap. Since they are bandits, they will most likely decide to go for what ever is most valuable. So Sono gets into the bandits view while wearing no armor, and holding what appears to be a potion, when it is really just a water bottle. The bandits see this and they decide that it is better to come after him instead of the elf. They have fallen into Sono’s trap. Before they can reach him, he puts on his full set of armor and grips his sword tightly. Even though Sono is outnumbered, a good sword and armor is much better than two messily bandits. As this is happening, the elf readies his bow. Now the bandits are surrounded. With the combination of Sono’s weapons and armor, and the elf's bow skills, he thought that the bandits had little chance to survive.

Then they did something Sono did not expect. They, too had put on their own armor, though it was not as strong as Sono’s, it definitely made for more of a fair fight. They split up, one charged at Sono, while the other went after the elf. Sono, braced, waiting to see what the bandit would do. At the same time, Sono saw the elf scurry up a tree. If the elf died Sono decided he would make a run for it. Then he realized what the elf was doing, he had started firing arrow after arrow at the bandit from above with amazing accuracy and precision. Clearly this was no ordinary elf. Then Sono focused back on his opponent. Sono may have had better armor, but the bandit had a diamond sword. Sono would have to get at least two hits with his sword for every one of the bandits. Then Sono took the bandit by surprise and ran towards the bandit who was already charging at him. Sono got the first hit and made the bandit fall to the ground. Then he took a single swing with a battle axe and hit the bandit in the leg. Then retreated before the bandit got a good swing at his shins. Now the bandit had trouble running, but seemed determined not to give up, in the corner of his eye, Sono could see the elf still shooting arrows down at the bandit that was attacking him. Yet something was different, It appeared that the elf had started to shoot at a slower rate and occured to Sono that he might be running out of arrows. He would have to take more risks so he could help out the elf before he ran out of arrows. Then Sono took another charge at the bandit, who easily fell to the ground. This time however, Sono took, not one, but three slashes at the bandit. This injured the bandit greatly, but the bandit had been ready and took a swipe at Sono’s shins just before Sono could retreat. Now both of them could barely stand, and Sono saw that the elf desperately needed help.

The bandit was in far worse of a condition than Sono was but still neither of them were looking good. Then Sono noticed something, the bandit had a bow strapped to his back. If he could kill the bandit and get the bow, he would be able to shoot the other bandit from the side, even if he couldn't stand. The bandit looked like one more hit would finish him off so Sono grit his teeth and leaped into the air, battle axe in hand, and swung it with all his might into the bandits crumbling armor. Sono’s leg shot out with pain, the bandit had been able to jab his sword into Sono’s thigh before he had died. It was not a life threatening wound, nor something that couldn't be healed with a golden apple, but never the less it hurt Sono badly. Sono picked up his new bow, and started firing shots at the other bandit, who had also started to have trouble standing. The bandit looked at Sono, with a sorrowful look in his eyes, seeing that he had little chance of survival. At that moment, the elf took advantage of the bandits distraction and leaped from his perch in the tree, and smashed a blunt wooden sword, which was more of a club at this point, at the bandits head. It did not cut any skin or break any bones, but it was enough to make him unconscious. Being an elf, he did not want to finish him off and Sono respected that. After the fight, the elf handed Sono a golden apple and showed him to a town where he could spend the night.

Your character walks up to a shop in a quite market. “Hello my good sir,” says the shop keeper. “What may I help you with today?” How does your character respond?: “I sure hope so! I am looking for some brewing supplies for my town, do you have anything that might be of good use?”

“Well brewing supplies are few and far between these days, let me see what I have in the back.” Says the shop keeper. He returns with a sorrowful look on his face. “I am sorry, all I have is a ghast tear and some redstone, but I do know of a town that has plenty of brewing supplies. I will warn you though, its a long trip and it goes right through orc territory.”

“Ah, well I guess I should get my armor repaired before I go, is there a black smith in this town?” Responds Sono.

“As a matter of fact their is a diamond level smith right around the corner, but I am having a used gear sale and I have some great deals!” Says the shop keeper.

“Now that you mention it, those diamond boots look like they are in pretty good shape, I think I will buy those.” Says Sono as he hands the shop keeper some gold coins.

“There is also a hotel across the street if you would like to stay there, as it is getting dark.” Says the shop keeper.

“Great! It is a long walk home and I wouldn't make it before dark. Well, that's all I needed, thank you.” Replies Sono.

“No problem! If you need anything else just come to my shop, by the way, tell me how it goes with the town I told you about, I haven't been there in a while.”

I assume that there will be a different FM reading this so I will put what he said to do and what I have done in response to these below.

You are obviously a very good writer, I can see that, but there are quite a few errors in your application which need to be adressed before I can accept you.

This is why you were denied:

Your definition of powergaming is incorrect.

To be able to play on this server you need to understand the correct definition of powergaming. Luckily for you there are plenty of ways to be able to find out the correct definition. First of all you can look on the lord of the craft wiki and then search for "Powergaming", you can join our Team Speak channel (You can get Team Speak from http://teamspeak.com/?page=downloads ), or you can do a google search.

I have looked it up and I believe that I now have a good answer.

Your biography needs a lot of improvement.

First of all there are so such things as "Orgs" on the server. I believe you are talking about "Orcs". I would like you to read up on the lore and history of the server (In the wiki which has a link at the bottom of this post, and the World History section of the forums. Just scroll down on the main forum page), then incorperate that into your application. Currently there is no such Eutopia, nor was there ever in the history of Asulon or Aegis, please only use things which are or were in the game. The reason for this is to show understanding of how the game works, and the sorts of nations and races you can expect while playing the game.

It would be extremely unrealistic for a "boy" as you called him, to have a stash of weapons capable of equipping an entire army. For starters the fatigue of mining enough raw materials would probably kill him. Also were is the rest of your family?

I now realize that I was being foolish thinking that there could possibly be a Utopian society or that a boy could mine so much. I believe I have my facts strait now. (the idea of a boy mining so many amazing things seemed like it would make for a good story at the time). Also I have said a little bit more about his family.

Your answer to the combat RP question needs improvement.

You need to explain how the combat went in the RP situation, you cannot just say that they would probably lose. Where did the elf get the bow from? If he was holding it the entire time, can't you assume he was at least shooting the bow? Write that in. You need to be descriptive, you need to write what your character does in the combat as well as how the bandits retaliate.

I have expanded a lot on this question and realize that I should have definably added more.

Your skin is not RP.

A Honeydew head and a rainbow body is not acceptable for the server. Try to select a skin which is a lot more RP and has clothes suitable for the server.

I was never intending to use this skin on the server and it was a misunderstand on my part. It was also one of the skins that I made and I was eager to show it off. (by the way it was rosta not rainbow)

For some reason I was not able to put a picture of my skin on this app! I have chosen a standard, honeydew like dwarf skin. I assure you that it will be acceptable. Please do not make me resubmit it because of this, I am really anxious to play on this server! :(

A very nice app! I see you have corrected yourself, but trust me, if the skin is in anyway non-RP, your time on the server will be short. Could you please try to PM me it? If you don't know how to upload images, go to imgur, click upload, upload it, then copy the BBCode and paste it. Please wait for a GM to implement you, and welcome to Lord of The Craft!
