Out-Of-Character:

Minecraft Account Name:

blob9000

Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?:

No, I didn't, sadly.

How old are you?:

I am 15 years old.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

Central Time(US/Canda) / Canada

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

Yes, I believe I do.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

I enjoy playing sports, PC gaming, reading, and writing fantasy. My favorite sport is football and I play running-back on a team.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

Too many hours to say... just count on me being an active member unless I am on a vacation.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.:

Role-playing is acting out as another person and leaving reality. When you role-play you change everything about you. Your personality, your looks, and even your race. (Unless your playing as a human, of course.) That's what I love about role-playing. You read in a book or see in a movie something you just want to be, you can do that in role-playing. Minecraft makes it even more interesting, with what you can do with mining and combat and all that.

In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are.

Powergaming: Powergaming is when your character does something without giving the victim the chance to react. For this example, Jim will be the Power-gamer, and Bob will be the victim.

Jim: Hey, look over there! An enderdragon!

Bob: What? Where?

*Bob turns around*

Bob: I don't see an--

*Jim pushes Bob off the cliff*

That is power-gaming. Bob had no chance to react to the push.

Metagaming: (This is mostly where I screw up on.) Meta-gaming is where the player uses knowledge that their character does not know to affect the way they play the character. (Often using it to their advantage.) For example, if I have a mini-map mod, and I use it to find a enemy base or someone I am hunting, it would be meta-gaming.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I expect it to be a very fun server in the medieval time period (My favorite time period by the way) and to be my new top server with epic builds and great characters.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

Well, the only one I can remember is Mobicraft (I was an Admin) where the other staff and server owner got corrupt and I got banned for unbanning someone who got an unfair ban.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

Yes, of course.

How did you hear about us?:

I heard about you on a "Top 10 Minecraft Servers" website.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?

Yes, I was vote 2,039.

What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?:

blob9000

In-Character:

Character Name: Xalek Maru ((The "X" is pronounced like the "X" in Xavier))

What is your Race?: Dwarf

Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Xalek is currently a 28 year old dwarf who has a dark orange beard. As a Dwarven Warrior, he is covered in armor with a belt he stores his weapons in. He wears a iron helm that completely covers his face. Some believe he wears it due to a battle injury but nobody knows for sure. Nobody has ever seen his real face since he joined the army when he was 19 years old. He came back at 23 years old, got married, went back to war, and came back at 25 years old wearing the mask. All you can see is his orange beard and his blank, mysterious eyes.

Xalek rarely speaks and is often a mysterious character. Some believe this is because his heart got shattered when his wife died at the hands of a group of Human bandits that called themselves the Grief Reapers. They just did small hit-and-run raids on houses in small Dwarven Colonies. They killed the inhabitants, took their valuables, and sometimes started the houses on fire.

Xalek, enraged and sad about his wife's death, starts his quest to kill the Grief Reapers.

He uses his tracking skills and gets right outside the Grief Reapers base camp, which appears to be inside a complex of hills. He scans the outside wall and notices it is log. He tries using a backup Iron Ax but it hardly makes a dent. But no wood can withstand Xalek's Diamond Ax's. But, surprisingly, Xalek prefers the direct approach and locates the front gate. Outside it is 3 bandits. Xalek overhears their conversation from the bushes.

"Who was your last kill, George?" 1 bandit says,

"A woman! Course, I always flirt with the woman before I kill them! Picked up her last name. Maru, she said." George replied, sounding proud.

"Heh! I don't care about her name, Georgy!" The third bandit calls,

Xalek's heart stops. This "George" killed his wife. Without thinking, he draws his bow and fires at George. Unfortunetly, George moves and it misses him by a few inches. George turns around.

"Bloody Hell!" He exclaims, "Who shot that?"

Flick! George turns around to see an arrow in 1 of his comrades heads. Flick! And another into the third bandit. George turns and runs towards the gate. Obviously only used to killing children and woman, this George is a coward.

"OPEN THE GATE! He shouts, "OPEN THE DAMN GATE!"

The gate opens, just enough to let George crawl in, and for an arrow to go into his foot.

"OWW!" He says, "Well, you ain't going to be getting in any time soon!"

2 archers are ontop of the hill. To the bandit's surprise, Xalek puts the bow behind his back.

Flick! Flick! The arrows miss Xalek by about a foot and it is obvious they are incompetent with a bow. Xalek reaches into his belt, and pulls out 2 throwing knives. He releases them from his hands and they go right into the archers faces. The gate, made out of the strong wooden fences, gets chopped down by the blow of Xalek's ax's. He kills 2 guards with the blow of his ax, and disappears into the shadows. He notices that they are mining. Wait... It hits him. All this is wood, and the bandits burn down peoples houses... time to return the favor. But they could just flee to the mine and wait for the fire to burn out. He gets closer to the mine and notices some loose gravel at the cave roof. He picks up a iron pick from a pile laying on the floor, and throws it at the roof. The cave begins to rumble and gravel comes crashing down. Xalek steals a flint and steal and disappears once more. Xalek starts a fire on the side of the interior and runs for the gates, arrows flying past him. He stands outside the gate, watching the fire blaze.

George is running for his dear life, towards the gate, among all his burning comrades.

He turns his head around to make sure the fire isn't spreading too quickly, but turns his head back to be at the head of an arrow. Xalek, bow at ready, is pointing his bow directly at Georges head.

"This... is for my wife." Xalek says as he fires the arrow into Georges skull.

Little is known about Xalek, but he is mostly known for his Blacksmith and Craftsman abilities and his amazing tracking skills. His arsenal includes 2 dual wield ax's that appear to be made of diamonds. He has a bow and a quiver attached to his back which he shoots with remarkable accuracy. His belt contains his ax's and some iron knives. All these he crafted from scratch, using minerals he mined. From all his mining he has a remarkably large amount of gold. Xalek has ears of a fox and the eyes of a hawk, often spotting footprints or any sign of activity in the area, allowing him to track down any target. These skills were what allowed him to find the Grief Reaper's base-camp when he was 25 years old.

As a child, Xalek was a very happy dwarf, always eager to answer questions but was also quite the trouble maker, him and his group of friends. He always got top grades in Mining, Crafting,

Archery, Ax's, Knife Throwing, and Tracking. He always make the odd joke at times, which got him normally into trouble. But Xalek was cunning, and made stories that the Dwarven Council could believe, always getting himself out of trouble, and his adversaries into trouble. Nobody knows what happened to that perfect boy. The truth is, when Xalek went to war, he got his soul sucked out of him. He saw horrors no normal Dwarf could imagine. If not enough, he returned to a dead wife and a broken heart. As life can never be perfect, nobody thought that joyful child deserved a life like Xalek.

Your characters ambitions:

Xalek has a broken heart, and a lost soul. Some people question why he hasn't commited suicide yet. The truth is he has a little bit of good left in him. A bit of sympathy. A bit of compassion. A bit of love. His only goal in life is to build up the courage to take his mask off. To reveal the shadow of what he once was. Then, maybe then... will that joyful little boy return.

Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do?

Xalek studies the fight for a moment. He is haunted by the bandits, looking like the ones he had slain, and gets visions of his dead wife. He knows he can't let that Elf suffer the same fate. He is still in far range so the bandits won't see him without him firing a shot. Xalek takes a arrow out of his quiver, draws the bow, and aims for a bandits head. Flick! "Bullseye" Xalek thinks, as he hides away in the bushes. The other bandit turns around and looks at his dead comrade. With Xalek in the bushes, all the bandit sees is the forest. Then he hears a rustle in the bushes. He quietly steps toward the bush when suddenly Xalek jumps out from the bush, ax's in hand, and lunges himself toward the bandit. The bandit manages to deflect the ax heads but sprawls backwards. Xalek throws one of his ax's at the bandit. This time, the bandit was not so lucky to dodge the blow. The ax hits the bandit right in the chest, sending him to his grave. The elf, who appears to have a wound on his side, gets up and says:

"Thank you"

Xalek doesn't reply, and walks away.

Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer?

(The shop is a stable for horses) Xalek doesn't answer for a moment but replies in a deep voice: "I'd like ta make a trade."

Xalek holds shows the shop-keeper a slain deer, resting on his shoulder. It has a ax chop right in it's back.

"A deer for a horse?" Replies the shop-keeper, "Nice try."

Xalek doesn't answer but instead puts out a few swords and some skinned rabbits, all taken from his victims.

"Hmm... I guess you can take Jess over here."

The shop-keeper brings out a big horse, strong enough for Xalek's weight and weapons.

All Xalek says is "Deal". He takes the horse and walks it to the path, where he rides it out of town.

Other Information:

Note: I seem to be noticing this with my applications. The person who denies me gives me a reason, I fix that reason, but then a DIFFERENT person comes and denies it for a different reason. For instance, the person who denied my last application asked for a detailed encounter of the Grief Reapers base camp that I attacked. So please don't go and give me a different reason, as it is really annoying to try and be perfect from everyones point of view.

Take time to expand upon your character, proof-read your application, read up on server lore and rules and fix the problems with your app. Do not repost you application with 24 hours, use this time to build upon it and ensure perfection. Feel free to contact me on either the Teamspeak channel or through the forums if you have any questions, comments or concerns.

#1 I maintain my last team-member's reason for denial, rather than presenting a new one. You have a very good application, and while you did elaborate on your battle with the bandits, I think the emphasis was more on fixing the powergaming side of things. Ill list off the specific instances of powergaming, but when you rewrite be careful not to add new ones.

#2 Diamond Axe. These are rare and hard to get in Asulon, where materials are coming up short for the newly formed nations.

#3 Inconceivable aim. These bandits have been successfully raiding dwarven villages (which are subterranean by the way) and evading/defeating the dwarven guard for sometime. This implies that they at least have some level of skill. You consistently pull off headshots with your weapons without a second thought and they seem widely unable to hit you in the most advantageous of situations.

Flick! Flick! The arrows miss Xalek by about a foot and it is obvious they are incompetent with a bow. Xalek reaches into his belt, and pulls out 2 throwing knives. He releases them from his hands and they go right into the archers faces.

Assuming these archers are indeed incompetent, they still maintain the advantage of height and range. Throwing weapons have limited range in comparison to a bow. It is already very difficult to believe you are a master head-shot archer, but now also a head-shot thrower. The farther these archers are from you, the harder it is to believe you headshot them. The closer they are to you, the harder it is to believe that they both missed you when they had all the advantages to them, incompetent or otherwise. These problems of powergaming dot your entire biography.

I like your character's story and overall the application isn't bad. But you must fix these issues before you can get through.
