Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name:

Yoyomaster9

How old are you?:

I am currently 16, and will be 17 in April

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

I live in the Pacific Time-Zone in the United States

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

I am very proficient in my grammar and language skills. My English class (English language/composition AP) demands this, as I write many essays.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

First off, I am highly athletic; I run track and cross country at my high school (and place high in both). I have a great knowledge of music, and my iPod is filled with classic rock bands. I also enjoy programming (C++, some Java, Lua for Computercraft, and Labview), solving puzzles (especially Rubik's cubes), and, of course, playing video games like Lord of the Rings Online and Minecraft.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

At this moment, not a whole lot. I currently have a part-time job at my local Vons, I run in my high school track team, and I have a lot of homework most nights. Between now and May, I can play around 10-20 hours per week, mainly on weekends. Afterwards, I may be able to do a bit more (20-25, not entirely sure).

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:

Roleplaying is the act of pretending to be something you are not. This can apply to a 5-year-old playing cops and robbers, or even a 20-year-old pretending to be a ghost during Halloween. In the sense of video games, though, roleplaying would be pretending to be something like a blacksmith, an elf, a dwarf, or any other mythical figure that the roleplayer has an intrest in.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

Yes, but not heavily. As stated in one of the answers above, I play Lord of the Rings Online. In that game, I am an elf, however my roleplaying as an elf is not as extensive as Lord of the Craft. I don't talk like one, have a background, or any other thing like that. I will say, though, I always have liked the idea of roleplaying in Minecraft.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

To be honest, I was not completely sure, so I did a little bit of background research and this is what I have come up with. Meta-Gaming is the act of using knowledge from outside the game, and applying it to the game. For example, if one of my friends were to tell me that the dwarf king has a sweet tooth for cookies, the Meta-Gamer would use this knowledge, and give the king cookies, although his character has not learned of it yet. Meta-Gaming can be considered cheating, since it can skip through parts of the game.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:

Again, I had to do research on this one. Power-Gaming is doing an action and leaving out the counteractions in order to accomplish a certain goal. An example would be like if person A decided to kill person B, so he would violently attack him, leaving out the fact that person B can counter attack and use magic of some sort. This is, again, cheating, as it leaves out certain features that the game provides.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I expect this server will be like a massive online game of Lord of the Rings (in the general sense, not specific to any figures or places). There are real conflicts and real battles that go on in the game that go on inside the game, and there is an actual adventure.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

Honestly, I have only played on a server I have created for me and my friends. It started as a survival map, and it slowly changed into a free-build map. My brother and I eventually got tired of this, as it had no point, and I was building things that already existed.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

Yes. It seems simple to abide by, since I wouldn't normally do things that would break them.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

Certainly.

How did you hear about us?:

I was wondering around the internet, and I stumbled upon this through a search on Google. I searched "10 best Minecraft servers", and a page with Lord of the Craft listed at number 6 appeared. I love the Lord of the Rings story line, so I read more about it, and became immediately intrested.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?:

No.

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Fendrel grew up in a small town. His father passed shortly after Fendrel was born, due to a group of bandits that killed many of the people in the city. He was taught how to use a sword and a bow as a child by his uncle, to help hunt for food and help fight against invasions. He obtained many friends, young and old. After a day of hunting, he came back to a village that had been scorched by a raid. There were bodies everywhere. Try as he might, he could never find his mother's body. With no place left to go, 16-year-old Fendrel wandered the lands, passing from town to town, living in the wilderness. He had but the sword on his back to protect him and hunt for food. One day, he finally passed by the lands of Asulon...

Fendrel is now 28 years of age, and looks more like an outcast. His blonde hair is tattered by the weather. His clothes show wear from the constant traveling he has been through. He used to just pass through towns, like a wanderer, but one day he met a man in a nearby village named Thames. He explained that the village was in need for warriors, because they need to defend against a group of 20 raiders that are on their way. Fendrel decided it would be a good idea, since they were willing to pay him for his services.

Sure enough, the raiders come, and the village fights back. After about half of the raiders fall, the remaining flee the battle. Thames thanks Fendrel for the help, and pays him for his service. Thames and Fendrel become friends later on, and begin hunting and fighting off bandits together. Fendrel likes the feel of fighting alongside people, and decides to stop wondering, and help fight off bandits like the ones that attacked his village.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

I would kindly greet them back, and ask if I could buy some food and a map. If possible, I would ask for a guide or directions to the nearest city to relocate myself.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Fendrel would happily join the guards and help them get rid of the bandits. Afterwards, Fendrel would ask for his reward, and move on.
