Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: Rayne8787

How old are you?: Eighteen.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: US Eastern Time, GMT -5:00. USA.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Of course, why else would I be here? If I didn't have a good grip on the language I'd be making a fool of myself.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm an eighteen year-old living in Virginia with way too much time on my hands. I enjoy playing Minecraft, however the usual method of server is rather mundane. I'm here to see if this is for me, and perhaps have a bit of fun.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

Weekdays: 5-6 hours, usually. Possibly less or more.

Weekends: Random. Anywhere from all day to not at all.

In six months time I'll be going to college however, and my time will radically change.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: To roleplay is to experience through outside means what it is to be something you're not. In a roleplaying environment, you can learn what it's like to be anything from a dwarf citizen to a human king. It's exciting.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I would suppose my first "role-playing" would have been when I was a little kid pretending to be my favorite superhero or character. However, I developed it more when I began playing on MMORPG's, namely text-based. It's easier to roleplay on a text-based game, I think. Hopefully Minecraft can change that idea.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Assume I was a character prepared to go into a conflict with another character. Meta-Gaming would be for me to go onto a chat service and have one of my pals tell me, "He'll be in such and such place at such and such time, it's a good opportunity for you to strike."

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: I wasn't quite sure of this one until I read the definition elsewhere. On text-based RPG's that I enjoyed, the closest term was "God-Modding." The act of using means to make yourself have an unfair advantage in-game over the opponent. Example: "Rayne throws his knife at enemy1 without giving them a second to dodge, enemy1 takes the hit and falls to the floor bleeding." In this instance, Rayne caused damage without giving his opponent a moment to have a chance at escaping or counter-striking.

What do you expect this server will be like?: From the videos on Youtube and all the reading into the LoTC website I've done, I'm actually expecting a pleasant experience. If I'm disappointed I surely don't need to worry, as I can simply leave before I get too far involved.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: This may cause some issues and I wouldn't mind if I were rejected because of this. I don't know the name of most of the servers I've played, but I am a retired griefer. I used to play on a server and enjoy it for some time before getting bored and breaking things randomly; and this is utterly unacceptable. I think it was when I was griefed that I stopped doing it to others. Taking a taste of one's own medicine is bitter.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Of course I have. I wouldn't be here if I didn't.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yessiree.

How did you hear about us?: I searched "Top ten Minecraft servers" into google. You guys popped up rather quickly.

Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you?: Yup-Yup. 1,971 my lord.

In-Character:

Character Name: Herudo

What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Herudo has been a wanderer for a long time. With little care for the world, he fled his home and set his sights out at a young age to find a place of excitement to settle down in. Herudo learned when he was a child how to wield a bow, and never cared to defend himself with anything else. Wandering the lands, he's slain many a Skeleton and Zombie... but for what?

Herudo constantly wonders, "What is the point of travelling and slaying such creatures if there is no place for me to remain?"

His childhood was unpleasant. Living in a small farming town with an abusive drunkard father, beatings were aplenty. His only care for his homeland was his now-deceased mother who was made ill by a spider-bite allergy.

Now wandering to and fro, he is seeking a place to call his own and defend as much as his skill allows.

What is your Character's ambitions?:

Herudo only wishes to find a place to call home; be it a guild, a friendly town, or a kingdom. He wants to find such a place and defend it.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): A Bow.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Archery is what he's used to survive until now, so it would be Archery that Herudo is most proficient with.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

Other Information about your Character:

Herudo has no dislikes for any of the races of the realm. The only thing he cannot stand are monsters who assault the innocent for no reason- but don't be fooled. Herudo is not a man who alligns himself with good, nor evil. His morals are neutral, and that is how he behaves.

However, despite his neutrality, he's always shown a rather soft-spot for Dwarves. He respects them more than other races for their strength and stubbornness.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Herudo is usually neutral, but ever since the death of his mother he cannot stand the weak being preyed on. Seeing the armed warriors, he'd do his best to fire arrows at them from afar- not to kill them, but rather to stop them from attacking the poor halfling. If successful, Herudo would walk over to the halfling and help him to get his bearings. He'd then remove the arrows from the warriors he fired upon and tie them up. Wishing the halfling well, Herudo would be on his way.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Herudo would look upon the wares. Whether or not he could use them would be the deciding factor in his buying them. However, being a wanderer, he has little money and unless something necessary catches his eye, he would politely tell the merchant that he's uninterested.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Neither a man of swordsmanship, or needing of iron, he'd leave it and carry on with his travelling.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

"Hello, fine people, I am a traveler in need of food. Could you spare me any?"

And depending on their answer, he'd eat or leave hungry.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

If this be the town Herudo has chosen to settle in, of course he'd aid the guard!

However, he has no qualms with bandits nor need for money. If this isn't the town he's decided to live in, he'd politely decline and be on his way. For the guard said nothing about the bandits doing anything wrong, and Herudo does not simply attack wantonly.

I really like your attitude that you are presenting in this application, I have a distant feeling the community will take a liking to you fairly quickly.

The application itself is rather nice and your character is indeed fairly well established. Normally I look for RPed responces in the ORQs, but you had such stolid bearings on them that I cannot feasibly complain.

Being an archer, I must make you aware of this (which you might already be, but reiteration is necessary). Without a villain app, you cannot kill another unless directly provoked. You would have been denied for this if you ended up killing the harassers in the first ORQ, but that wasn't the case. Whether intentional or not, just be aware you cannot be a mad killer or whatever. However, with the experience you are presenting, that shouldn't be hard.

...And also, text based RP is the best, might have one of those with you sometime if you'd be up for it.

As for my jurisdiction... Accepted.
