*a short High Elf is standing in the center of the town, addressing whoever will listen.*

Fellow Mali'aheral, we face a crisis.

I have heard word of an Orc raid approaching steadily. Talk about the town has only confirmed my suspicions. And yet I see blaring holes in our defenses, begging for a raid to run through and destroy our great city. Now, some may think nothing of this raid, but I fear without much improvements to our defenses being made quickly, we may fall.

I have a plan to keep our city alive, but I can't protect it myself. I need your cooperation. Help me help you. If the council will hear my plea, I would like to bolster our defenses personally and assist with planning our defense.

My proposal is simple.

Step one: add a wall around our housing section and gating access to the port with the outer slums.

Step two: build traps in key choke points for further defense.

Step three: allow me to assist the head of the military in organizing the defenses.

Now then, you may be asking what right I have to demand such things. I was charged with defending a city in the north of Aegis and it was defended again and again from the Undead. If I could keep the Undead out, why can't I keep some Orcs out of our city?

I beg you, allow me to serve you in defending the city.

Note[again]: do not use this if you are not able to access the city. I'm not trying to nag, just keep meta to the minimum.

Ellir nods to Yuln. "If he can't see it, neither can the Orcs."

She then turns to Jon. "You are most welcome to help with organizing our defenses. I suggest, in fact, that you speak with Talias, our legate, to discuss a strategic plan of action. Make sure, however, that such a plan is discussed in disgression and safe from prying eyes and ears."

"As far as structural defense goes, I will take your suggestions, but ultimately the executive branch will be left up to me. I've been around this city for a long time, and I know its ins and out. Once again, you are welcome to go through my plans with me at an opportune moment."

I don't recall saying we haven't prepared. I only mentioned gaps in our defenses that must be filled if we are to keep orcs out. They may not be smart, but they know how to fight battles.

Thank you much, and I shall take you up on that offer. If you allow me to, I can build the walls myself. I've already built the walls around the agricultural island.

We are transitioning to a new style of walls, so I don't think we will do anything yet.

As important as transitioning is, Orcs are more important. Should we sacrifice valuable time we could be using prearing for an Orc attack waiting for our new type of wall? If you see it as more important, I can wait. But, if it isn't, let us build up now and renovate later.
