Well i think it should evelutonary on a smaller scale. Like everybody was a cave dwarf at the start, but some went outside. To high mountains and mighty forest. As in darwins theory the dwarves adapted to the living conditions making fysical changes.

I like the evolution idea. Cave dwarves would be paler skinned, but more adjusted to mining and the like, mountain dwarves would be tan from living outside and have red or blonde hair from the sun and do jobs like lumberjacking and the like. I'm not too about forest dwarves as i've never run into one and I know almost nothing about them, but I'd assume they are farmers and fishers and maybe skin color somewhere between the cave dwarves and mountain dwarves (since they ARE outside but spend a lot of time under the canopy of forests.) These are just some ideas I had after reading all of your posts.

Actually cave dwarves are grey, mountain dwarves are pale or tanned, and forest dwarves are a dark brown tone (we only have 1 forest dwarf)... Currently I am trying to get rid of the subrace stereotypes as they affect our ways of living together as mountain and fores dwarves wish to live above ground or atleast partially under the earth.

So in the end we are called dwarves! As we shouldnt be so racially diverse as other races as 1. We don't have the playerbase, and 2. We don't move far from home so cave dwarves are particularly odd in origin.
