The Twilight Rebellion

* As you make your way through the capitol city you see a tall and proud Sariant clad in the familiar black, gold, and red. As you draw nearer you notice a large stack of fliers near him with several already in his hand. He is passing them out to each person whom walks by. Curious as to what is written on the fliers to walk up and take one from the smiling Sariant. You then read . . .

My dear Hanseti,

I wish to address to you all something that has been pressing on my mind, the Twilight Army.

I Have received heavy criticism in the form of insults and sneers regarding the "War Bonds" I issued to the rebel force. It is true that I loaned away 15 sets of our finest hardened armor, but I did it with a purpose. At the time Hanseti was combating an offensive war. The initial head of the entire war was in dire need of armaments so that his men could effectively engage the corrupt Salvan Ordinators when aggressed upon, and so I relinquished such tools to him with no tacked on interest nor any gain for myself. The original rebel movement appeared to be fighting for the people against the injustice of the Salvan government. From the wars conception, Hanseti fought for the same thing, and therefore I did not push for any financial or material gain from the deal, only the righteous freedom and safety of Salvan citizens.

However, now that Hanseti fights for the other team, the rebels are starting to show their true intent, selfish gain. When I came to this realization I felt betrayed, not only were we all lured into a war on the wrong side but the trust between us both was shattered, and along with it the Hansetian support in the offensive war.

I gave away precious armor and fragile trust to those once believed freedom fighters. I gave them the tools to create a better Salvus, a safer Salvus, but instead they have shifted to match the evil desires of the Orcish war nation and Alras. I cannot force them nor persuade the rebels to see my view and understand why we fight for who we do. I can only hope that they realize what they are doing, see the pain they are causing, the horrors they will inflict. I can only hope that somewhere inside them all a voice still speaks out in the name of the people. I can only hope they will turn the tools I bestowed on them to good, to join our cause and fight off the oppression, greed and blood lust of this war.

*Ashur walks among the icy cold of Hanseti, holding the ornate notice in one hand as he reads. A slow snicker spreads over his face, followed by a poison-filled response:*

"...A rushed attempt by a withered warrior trying to cover his ass. I helped move the armor myself - he was all too happy to doom his people. If he hasn't faced his foolery yet, he certainly will when his blood baptizes my arrows..."

*Turning the corner of the page to the enlarged end of his pipe, the hardened Dark Elf watches the paper slowly burn away before tossing the charred remains into the blanket of snow by his side. Ashur maintains his wandering course down the path and into the depths of the blizzard, eventually fading from view in the pristine morning light.*

Syrila reads the note, eyebrow quirking as she continues to read the note, fustrated she writes a note, motioning to the sariant to wait a moment

Fighting for the people is still what we do... We would never harm an innocent, and to accuse us of such atrocities is warrant enough for you not to see our side correctly. When have you tried to talk to me? Why wont you see things our way? There is still a chance for corruption. There is still a chance for you to come back, if the Orcs and Alras feel you can be redeemed, but the war will continue.

We are built to rise and roar, we are built to become the people and tear own the walls of the oppressing government of Salvus, with the "ordinators" who fight for justice, when they have killed many innocents and continue to do so.

If you allow Salvus to stand, then you, Mirtok have committed a crime worse then the betrayal of the Allies of the Twilight Army.

Redemption is coming, I can not say when or where, but the flames of war are meant to purify corrupt lands. It is time you look on and watch while we finish the task. We will purify what was corrupted while it's image can still be considered beautiful. You broke our trust by betraying Alras and the Orcs. That in itself is dishonorable, for how long was Hanseti and the Orcs allied? how long did it take for you to throw all that work down the drain?

Think about it, think of your true betrayal, think of what might happen now that you have Crossed the Rubicon, the point of no return. Think what could have happened if you crossed the Rubicon with the coalition.

Now you can only watch, as Salvus becomes purified. Watch closely, and with great intent. The order is nothing without Gaius, a man of Valor, a man of great power through his voice. You a merely a shell of him, unable to grasp the full power of the words of the people.

The Hour of Twilight comes when you cross the Rubicon, you better hope Gaius or Samuel rises from the dead. For I am not certain if Alras and the Orcs will be as hospitable as the Army I command. Pray and hope, watch and look on. We will do what we are here to do, and then we will leave and offer homes to those effected.

We are not monsters. Those bandits inside are the monsters that nee to be slain. I think you'll see it my way when we rise and roar in the next battle.

Syrila hands her note to the Sariant to return it to Mirtok

*Dain, being the Sariant passing out the notes, takes a moment to look at the woman shoving the note in his face. He immediately recognizes the woman to be Syrila a former Sariant of the Order. Dain then begins to remember all of his memories of the ex-Black Cross.

He remembers the deep seated trust he put into Syrila. And then he remembers why he hates her. He remembers how she, against the Hochmeister's orders, became pregnant and went without punishment. He remembers how in the Order's time of need, Syrila abandoned her so called "friends". He remembers the sting of betrayal he felt when Syrila told her fellow Sariants that she was leaving them for her "true people" the Orcs. He remembers seeing the pain in the eyes of his brothers as Syrila walked away from the Teutonic ships as the people of Aegis prepared to see. He also remembers how Syrila was branded a traitor for the grave injustice she had done. Dain remembers the betrayal of the once Syrila.

After staring of into space for a few moments, Dain snatches the letter from Syrila's hand. Dain slowly unfolds the small piece of parchment and slowly reads it to himself.

Dain lowers the letter as he thinks to himself "Since when 'as she been runnin' things for this rebellion and since when 'as it been called the Rubicon? And what qualification does she even 'ave? Last time I checked she was out runnin' 'olm inteh the ground...."

He then thinks to the utter hypocrisy of the note. He chuckles a bit as he turns around without saying a word to his former "sister" of the Order. After taking a few steps Dain crumbles the note and throws it into a small puddle on the side of the road. He then utters under his breath,

"Some things will never change."
