Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name:

My minecraft account name is EMG100.

How old are you?:

13 years old now, turning 14 in a few months though.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:

I am in U.S Central time, and I live In the United States of America.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:

Yes I do have a good grip on the english language as it was my first and only language(besides dwarven :P), I have quite good grammar and tend to get an A+ average in my ELA classes.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:

A short description of myself would begin with the fact that I am outgoing and fun to role-play or talk with. I love to play video games and record myself playing them on youtube, I consider myself a good role-player and I love to do so. I also find myself as an athletic kid, and I get A+'s in every class, as well I as am taking advanced math for my age. I also love to program, and have coded several small games, as well as a big project and several plugins for various servers.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:

Haha, it depends on the server, I know for a fact that if I get hooked onto the server at least 5-6 hours on weekdays, and 10+ on weekends, so in the grand scheme of things around 40 hours a week, that is if I have an enjoyable experience here.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:

I know quite a bit about role-playing, you basically get to act as a character or person that you want. You need to pretend you really are the person you are role-playing as and you need to stay in character. Role-playing means quite a bit to me as I have been doing it for around 3 years now, my first minecraft server I made was a role-play one, and I love to play Dungeons and Dragons.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:

My experience in role-play varies from LARP, to D&D, to minecraft role-playing of course.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:

Meta-gaming in my own words is when a play uses real life information inside of the game to gain an advantage. Like if my friend told me where the elve base was and I used that information to lead to the dwarves to war.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:

The act of power-gaming in my own words is when a play forces an action upon someone else without giving them a chance to react. For example, if I went up to a random player in a tavern and said in chat: *robs and kills man*, and then killed him, that would be power-gaming.

What do you expect this server will be like?:

I expect this server to be one of the best I have played on. I was recommended to play here several times, but I had never had the time to apply until recently when a person named: 'Aiden_AJK' referred me here. I expect the server to be a fully submersible experience that will take me into the valiant life of my dwarven character where all that matters in ale and war. I expect to meet respectable people that I know I will have a fun time with, and lastly I expect to have fun.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:

I have played on several survival servers, but leaving them due to the fact they were quite repetitive. As for role-play, I have played on: Kingdoms of Aeonis, Lordran, Assassins Creep, and my own servers of course, I moved due to the fact they either got boring after a while, or my friends moved on, and I moved with them.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:

Yes, I have read the rules thoroughly twice, I understand them in quite detail, and I promise to agree to the rules without question.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:

Yes I promise to abide to all teamspeak, server, and forum rules that you set for me to follow, and if I do not, I will take the punishment of banishment from the server for any amount of time.

How did you hear about us?:

I heard about you from a player named Aiden_AJK, a friend of mine.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:

No, this is my first and hopefully last try.

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. Character Name:

Grondar Runesmith.

What Race are you?:

I come from a long line of pureblood dwarves.

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):

N/A

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

The story of Grondar is long, and full of many horrible, as well as good tales, as all know a dwarf loves to tell a story, so I advise you continue on...

Grondar was born to his parents, Grok'thar and Annathia Runesmith. They lived in a small abode in the large dwarven realm known as Kal’Urgan. At the time of his birth, his father was a very well known craftsman among the people who lived in the same area as he did. He worked on his anvil most of the day, and never really got to see his son Grondar, but he did bring ends meat, and supported the family, so Grondar had nothing to complain about. His mother didn't work though, she spend her time cleaning their home, doing the errands that needed to be done, and watching over Grondar. In all, Grondar's life was pretty much made for him, and he really didn't have much to worry about, in retrospect, Grondar's life was perfect then... but he would soon learn that he was born in a horrible age.

29 years later, Grondar's entire life changed, Kal'Urgan would soon fall, and the dwarven realm would be in ruins. The secluded dwarven nation had been receiving very little information from the outside world lately, but they did get some news of Al'Khazar being destroyed, and then Alras. Sooner or later, Kal'Urgan was in chaos. The undead scourge that had been supposedly assaulting the land of Aegis. The battle began with the undead a massive on the gate, the dwarves fought well and killed hundreds of the undead ruffians, but in all, the force the over-whelming and it caused the fall of the outer gate.

Grondar was just a mere youngling, and him and his mother were taken to a special reserve in which they would be for the majority of the war. But Grondar's father, Grok'thar, was not as lucky, but a small bit of fortune did manage to come to him. Grok'thar was drafted into an elite regiment of the legion, because of the fact that he had been supplying the army with axes for several years, because of the fact he was in the elite portion, his survivability rate was much higher than most.

His father fought well, trying his very best to push pack the seemingly never ending horde of undead goons. But even though he earned a vast amount of respect and honor from his superiors, and his peers, Grok'thar's short-lived line of heroic deeds came to an end. He was charging into the enemy, his mind set on saving his son and wife from the undead horrors that were attacking him. With two bloody axes--axe in each hand, he took the heads off many undead foes that dared to challenge his skill and cunning. But a nasty spell soared from a necromancers wand, and Grok'thar was left unconscious and the undead captured him before the pushed the lines of the dwarves, and succeeded in taking over Kal'Urgan.

Grondar and his mother were taken with a large survivor group to a refuge that the dwarves had forged in case of an event like this, many great dwarves also stayed here. And with the news of the return of Iblees, tension grew and the dwarves feared even more to leave their unknown sanctuary. They stayed there for around 4 years in total, and now the dwarven folk had to choose a few heroes to destroy the portal and the nether from which Iblees came. Grondar, of course only 33, was not chosen for this task, but a group of powerful and most skilled dwarves were sent to fight, including a most powerful one named Urir Ire'heart. The champions went out, and although many died, Urir Ire'heart managed to close the portal, with his life as the price.

With the portal now closed, dwarves came out of hiding, and some were freed from the prisons they had been trapped in. One of those dwarves, was Grok'thar Runesmith, Grondar's very own father. Grok'thar returned to his family, but he was much different. Grondar, now 34, began to notice his father acting strangely, but all that didn't matter, for the dwarves were evacuating to a new land. They fled to The Verge, in which they waited and built massive ships that were preparing to set sail on to Asulon. And they did, once they were on the land now known as Asulon, Grondar's family, as well as the dwarves that had lived through the war began to create another realm called Kal'Urgan, in which Grondar constructed a home for them to live in. The whole process that taken 5 years, and Grondar was now 39.

Life continued on as usual until the day before Grondar's 40th birthday, the day that would mark his rite into adulthood, as well as the day that he would be able to respectfully fight in the dwarven army if he was trained well enough. But something was up with his father the past week, Grondar hadn't seen him at all, and Grondar sensed he might be hiding in the cellar below. He slowly crept down the stairs, and twisted the knob. Locked! Grondar, out of curiosity, confusion, and a bit of anger, charged at the door with his right shoulder, sending splinters into the air, and opening the door of course.

His father stood huddled in the corner, pale as snow, whispering cursed words while rocking back and forth with an axe in his hand. Grondar scanned the room, and saw the remains of several dwarves scattered across the floor, as well as forbidden symbols written on the walls in blood. He walked up to his father and pushed him to the ground, yanking the axe from his hand, "How could you do this father! Why did you kill these dwarves, these symbols, these bloody symbols!, his father replied, "You don't know what I have been through Grondar, you have no idea what they did too me in those four years, but it wasn't very nice. Just kill me know, use my axe, and remember let the god of smithery, Yemekar guide your hand!". Grondar shed a single tear, roared, raised the axe high, and be-headed the crazed former dwarf.

His mother heard the the roar from the cellar, but what she saw was an entirely different view. She thought that Grondar had killed his father, and all the other dwarves that had lied there, as well as written those symbols. Grondar just wait there dumb-founded, not knowing what to do, as his mother called guards, which had banished him to the prison in which he would see no return. He stayed there for 40 long years, forever sulking the dungeons, going insane in the process. By the time he was set free, he was 80, quite far from his adulthood 'celebration'. His mother was dead, and he never really had any friends, so he was alone in the world.

Grondar worked as an apprentice for a local tool crafter for 11 years, and when he had enough money, purchased 3 anvils, and opened a brand new shop. His mind was starting to reform, and he began to pray daily again to Yemekar, for one day he hoped to be bought by his favorite god in the afterlife. Slowly his sanity began to restore, and slowly he began to make a name for himself, gaining quite a bit of wealth in the process. He then sold his shop to another dwarf, and walked to the Cloud Temple, where he wanted to study with the monks, and gain his life back.

At his current age of 103, Grondar Runesmith, has just made it to the cloud temple, where he plans to continue his journey through life

What is your Character's ambitions?:

Grondar's main ambition is to make his father proud by becoming the best smith in Asulon, for his father used to be one of the best in Kal'Urgan before the fall of Aegis, and his fathers doom.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):

Grondar's most used tool is the hammer, for every day he uses it tons of times in order to create brilliant steelwork, and master swords. On the topic of favorite tool, Grondar seems to quite like the axe, although he killed his own father with one, it was always a family tradition to bring two battle-axes embodied with several runes to war, he still wants to learn more about the skill needed to make one with.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?

My character most skilled talent is crafting weapons, armor, and tools. He learned to do this when he was a youngling and his father was still sane, and when he was an apprentice for 11 years for a local smith in Kal'Urgan.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):

Wasn't sure what format, also attached it.

Other Information about your Character:

Some other information about Grondar is the fact that he is usually drunk. He seems to find that ale can wash away all memories of his father, and of his previous home, so he makes no effort to stop drinking, and he probably never will. Another thing is that he can be quite grumpy and ill humored sometimes. He also tends to have nightmares about his experience in the cellar with his father, and sometimes the word 'cellar' or the mention of his father can cause a small trauma.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Whilst walking from the cloud temple drunk, Grondar sees two men harassing a young halfling who seems to have a small sack in his hand.

Grondar stumbles over to the trio and gets a better view of whats going on.

Armored man 1: Give us that sack of minas, you little runt!

Armored man 2: Or well kill you!

Halfling: I need this money to pay my rent, its a whole weeks pay!

Grondar, feeling bad for the small hafting decides to butt into the conversation.

Grondar: Leave that hafting alone you dirty, ruffian, man-things!

Armored man 1: Stay out of this, you short little bastard.

Halfling: Please help me..

Armored man 1: Shut up, halfling!

Grondar raises an axe to the first man neck and spits in his face.

Armored man 1: How dare you spit in the face of a armored man!

- The armored man pushes the axe from his neck, and unsheathes his own as well as signals the other to do the same-

Armored man 2: Haha! Now this is a real fight we got here, isn't it, you two tiny chaps?

Grondar: I would have to say the same..

-Grondar grips his axe and takes a swing at the first armored mans leg, causing him to cripple almost instantly-

Armored man 1: -coughs blood- Get him!

Armored man 2: I got it!

-The other armored man swings his own blade at Grondar's stomach, but he manages to strafe out of the way and the sort just barely cuts deep-

Grondar: Well you're gonna pay for that! Hafling! Make sure the first one doesn't get away!

-Grondar swings his blade at the left leg of the second armored man causing him to shriek in pain and stumble off scared-

Grondar: -clutches wound- Well I should get this looked at, I hope you appreciate the help, chap!

The hafling runs away yelling thanks to the dwarf who saved him, and Grondar just watches laughing hardy as the two armored men stumble off.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

Grondar ponders for only a few seconds at the well dressed man-thing before laughing hardily.

Grondar: Haha, I don't want your wares, man-thing, everyone knows that a dwarves have more selection, and more modest prices.

Merchant: Wait one second, dwarf, I have a huge selection, and the most modest of prices.

Grondar: Oh really? Thats not what the rest of the men I have shopped from have had. If you don't have ale or ingots, I don't want your business.

Merchant: Ah yes dwarf, I have but the finest wine in Asulon, shipped from the best dwarven winery themselves.

Grondar: How much you looking for it?

Merchant: 150 for the whole bottle.

Grondar: Seems like a hefty price, but considering I am desperate for a good drink… -hands over minas-

Grondar: I'll take it.

Merchant: Thank you sir, and would you like-

Grondar doesn't turn to hear the mans offer, but instead walks away.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

While Grondar was traveling in the woods, he comes across a small wooden hut, he needed a refuge for the night, and the hut was abandoned so he decided to spend the night.

In the morning, Grondar looked in one of the chests and came across 6 iron bars, and a gold sword.

Grondar: Hmm, a sword and 6 ingots, this is worth a small prize, but do I really want to risk the shunning from Yemekar?

Grondar: My parents always said never to steal from a dead man, and I don't suppose I want to start now.

Grondar walks away, knowing that he didn't want to steal from the abandoned house, for he would likely ruin his dwarven pride and honor, or even worst be haunted by a ghost, or dis-owned by his favorite god Yemekar.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Trader 1: Hello dwarf, are you interested in a trade of some sort?

Grondar: Yes, ermmm, do you have any rations, I am quite hungry from all this, errrmm, being lost.

Trader 1: Hmm, for a matter of fact I do, a loaf of bread and some apples is todays special.

Grondar: Well I am really hungry, how much do you ask for this delightful meal?

Trader 1: -grins- Well, if you are really hungry, 200 minas.

Grondar: Two hundred minas for an apple and some bread?!

Grondar: (in dwarven tounge) You filthy scam artist, taking advantage of a hungry man!

Trader 1: What?

Grondar: I'll take it… -hands over minas and walks away a bit angry and used-

-farther off Grondar just keeps to his usual saying, "humans are the worst traders"-

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Grondar is always ready to fight for a good cause, so after hearing that a group of bandits are occupying the road, he decides to approach the party leader.

Grondar: I heard you were looking for some mercenaries to help defeat some man-thing bandits, true?

Party Leader: I am not looking for mere, mercenaries as you would call them, I am looking for honorable men who would he happy to help fight the evil we have nearby.

Grondar: Well, I am honorable, and happy to help, as I am a dwarf, but I require a little promised incentive to sway my decision.

Party Leader: How much do you want?

Grondar: Least 250 for my work, more if I am wounded.

Party Leader: Quite a hefty price, are you good with a sword?

Grondar: No, but I'm great with an axe.

Party Leader: Well, I suppose that you can be relied on, I'll take you and pay for your assistance.

-A bit later, the party decides to head off and prepare for battle and when they arrive, 6 bandits dressed in fine clothing, and wielding large long-swords are waiting for them, Grondar is the first to step up and talk, following the leader, who is also followed by 7 other men-

Grondar: How about you just get on out of here, I don't want to have to hurt you ruffians.

Bandit Leader: How about you and your friends just leave us here, and save us the bloody mess we will need to clean afterwards!? -unsheath's sword-

Grondar: I'd put that down if I were you-

-The bandit cuts Grondar off, and he swings his blade aiming directly for Grondar's left side, but Grondar manages to jump out of the way, causing the sword to behead a crouched guard, which causing quite a stir through the party-

Grondar How dare you kill a man of the guard!

-Grondar swings a sword in a downwards motion aiming for the bandits right shoulder, and before the leader can react, his entire arm is taken off and the bandit dies. The battle is breaking out between the guard and the remaining five bandits, and 3 guards, as well as 2 bandits are killed, another bandit charges to Grondar-

Grondar: You best be retreating, you know what I did to your leader!

Bandit 2: Watch what you speak, dwarf!

-The bandit swiftly impales the sword in Grondar's leg, causing him to collapse in pain-

Grondar: Aggh, someone help!

Bandit 2: Ain't no help for you now!

-Just as he says that, the party leader swoops in from behind and cuts the head of the bandit-

Party Leader: Thats the last of them Grondar.

Grondar: You just saved me, how can I repay you now?

Party Leader: Maybe, now I don't have to pay you?

Grondar: Don't you remember, if I get wounded I am going to need more to pay for some assistance. Now I require 350 minas.

Party Leader: Fine, you did kill the leader, just don't expect a reward like this every day.

-Grondar takes the money and begins to crawl back to town, in search of a healer-
