Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name:My Minecraft name is kellemarine.

How old are you?:I am 19 years old.

Time-Zone/Country of Residence:I live in Indiana, United States and the time zone I live under is the Central time zone.

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:Yes, I do have a good understanding of grammar. English is my first language.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:I have just finished my first year of college and I’m studying Biology. I enjoy reading, music, movies, and history of any kind. I love spending time with family and friends no matter what the occasion is.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:I may be on the server between 4 to 9 hours a week depending on any events with college, friends, or family.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:Roleplaying is where you play as a different character in a completely different world. This character is made and controlled entirely by their creator. You make decisions based on how you feel your character would react to situations. For example, if your character is a treasure hunter and they are given the opportunity to seek out ruins said to have a bounty of treasure, then they will most likely set off in search of this place. By roleplaying, you take part in events that you would never have the chance to be a part of in the normal world. Your character could be anything in this world, and the path your character takes is entirely up to you.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:I have had only one experience in roleplaying and that was outside of Minecraft. I was part of a dungeons and dragons group before it fell apart, and people stopped coming. Even though my time in it was brief, I enjoyed acting the part of a different person who was created by me. I found it very fun and entertaining.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:Meta-Gaming is where you find out information outside of roleplaying. This information is not something your character has discovered. It’s something you discovered from another person, and the actions were done in real life outside of roleplaying. You use this information to your advantage so you will be better off in the game.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:Power-Gaming is where you take advantage the game or the system in the game to help you get ahead in the game. An example is where you attack another person and kill them without ever giving them the chance to fight back. You give this person no warning or signs of attack. You have to engage the other player in roleplaying before any actions can be done.

What do you expect this server will be like?:My expectations for this server are that it will be a great place to experience Minecraft in a different and unique way. I’m looking forward to meeting other people who actually want to roleplay rather than come on the server to not do anything worthwhile.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:I’ve played on the XGamingLT server a few times before. I left because you had to pay actual money to build inside the main town. If you didn’t pay to build in the town, you had to be in the “wild” where people were allowed to spawn camp you. I’ve been on a few other servers that I cannot remember the names of but I left them for similar reasons. I have been on quite a few servers where the admins don’t enforce the rules and pick on people who try to have a good time.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:I have read all the rules, I understand them, and I completely agree to follow them.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:Yes, I promise to follow all the rules for the server, forum and teamspeak.

How did you hear about us?:I heard about Lord of the Craft through Planet Minecraft on the Recently Updated Servers page. It looked interesting so I read through the lore on the wiki page and watched people’s videos on Youtube. I fell in love with the concept and story of the server. College has prevented me from filling out my application sooner.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:This is my first application for Lord of the Craft. I truly hope I make it on the first try. If not, I can always wait, improve my application and try again.

In-Character:

Character Name:ShadowRune_Alina

What Race are you?:Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):none

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):ShadowRune Alina is a 19 human mage, and her origins are from the kingdom of Renatus. She is light skinned with sky blue eyes and long, wavy brown hair and is around five feet in height. Unless a situation forces her to adopt new attire, she prefers to wear a long hooded robe that is a mix of green, blue, purple, and red. She prefers smaller towns to large cities and always loves being a short distance away from nature. Even if she is living in a cramped city or bustling town, every now and then she loves to get away from civilization for a while and be amongst the trees or living in the side of a cliff face. Confronting others is not one of her best strong points. She would rather prevent a conflict from starting than engage in a fight, but if her friends or her own well-being are put in danger she has no issue taking up arms to defend herself from harm. Her strongest traits are that she is extremely loyal to her friends, compassionate, willing to help others, intelligent, sneaky, and, of course, magic. When approaching tense or dangerous situations, she’s cautious about her decisions and thinks out a plan of some sort before rushing in. She bears no ill-will towards other races or haflings seeing as she was taught that all creatures are the same whether they are human, elf, dwarf, orc, and even animal. Therefore, she will make friends with anyone regardless of race. She looks down upon those that believe their race is superior to any other race, and she has no respect for anyone that maintains this attitude.

ShadowRune grew up in a crowded town in the kingdom of Renatus with her mother, Kipcha and her older brother, Barren. Her father, Ranochi, passed away before she turned two so she has little to no memories of him. She was given the name ShadowRune because on the day of her birth a dense fog blanketed the town and it casted shadows everywhere. The word “rune” was added to her name due to there being rune engravings on the doorway of the room she was born in. These runes were carved into the nursery doorway by her father who said the runes would protect the child born in that room. Her mother became extremely overprotective of her children when Barren was blinded in one eye after he had been outside the town and a lightning storm caused a tree branch to ruin his right eye. Afterwards it was a rare occasion whenever she left the boundary of the town, and it was usually done so with her mother accompanying her no matter what the occasion was. Most inhabitants of the town got along fine with her, but there were a select few who did not. A small group of children who came from wealthy families would tease ShadowRune because of her peculiar name. They would jeer at her, calling her cruel names because she did not have a “normal” name like all the other children. By the time she was 14, she was a fairly accomplished mage, but she still struggled with her confidence in her abilities as the other children continued to tease her. As she grew older, she began to grow bored with her predictable life at the town. Hardly anything remotely exciting ever happened and when something did occur, Barren and her were locked in the house due to her mother’s fear of the dangers the outside world posed. It had always been her dream to wander from town to town and see as much of the world as possible. Three months after her 19th birthday, she presented the idea to her mother, but as ShadowRune predicted her mother outright refused and locked her in her room, forbidding her to leave the safety of the town. However, Barren supported her idea, unlocked her door and snuck her out of the house. Before her departure, Barren gave her the family’s best bow and sword to help offer more protection on her travels. He bid her the best of luck on her travels, and ShadowRune set out looking forward to whatever lay ahead of her. Little did she know a plague of devastating proportions would soon sweep across Asulon. The town she once called home would fall victim to the plague as would countless others. May fortune guard her on her journey.

What is your Character's ambitions?:Her ambitions are to travel the world and see all it has to offer. Along the way, she hopes to greatly improve her magic abilities so that one day she may master it. She also is looking for lifelong friends to make. Once she is tired of her travels, she hopes to settle down, find a good man and start a family.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):ShadowRune’s favorite tools are those that can help her defend herself from harm. She puts immense faith in her trustworthy bow and sword given to her by Barren. One day, she hopes to own a diamond sword. Her next favorite tool is a solid, iron pickaxe. After all, what good is a sword if you don’t have the tool necessary to gather the iron that is required to craft it?

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?:ShadowRune’s best talents are her skill with a bow, sword, and magic. She also has an aptitude for making new friends, and she has a way with animals.

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format):The F5 key does not work on my computer for some reason. Unfortunately this is the only way I can take a screenshot of my skin. 30uqtjc.jpg

Other Information about your Character:ShadowRune has owned a large array of pets in her nineteen years of life. Her past pets have been two dogs, two cats, two turtles, and one finch. She has also looked after a neighbor’s horse while he was out of town on business. She has yet to meet an animal that did not take well to her.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

ShadowRune approaches the scene with caution but stays out of sight. Past experience has taught her to evaluate her opponents before rushing into battle. The sight of the halfing being bullied by these tough, armed men infuriates her. They push him over, kicking him in the side and jeering at him. These guards have no right to harass someone let alone steal from him. The two men seem well armed but not particularly bright. They are considerably larger than her, but size does not always guarantee a victory in a fight. Surprise and stealth would be her best allies in this situation. Making her decision, she scampers up the trunk of a tree and perches herself on a thick, steady branch. Silently, she takes out her bow and prepares to draw back an arrow. The two men are armored, but they neglected to wear helmets. She whispers, “Please forgive me for what I am about to do,” and draws back her arrow. Her shot finds its target in the back of the head of one of the men. The remaining man drops the halfing’s coin purse and looks around wildly for the assailant. ShadowRune draws a second arrow back and fires a warning shot at the man’s feet. He squeals with shock and shouts, “Keep the Mina! I don’t want the coin of a halfing anyway!” The man turns tail and runs into woods. Before she can climb out of the tree, the halfing grabs for his coin purse and runs in the opposite direction his assailant took before muttering “Thank you, whoever you are.” He turns and disappears into the shadows. ShadowRune drops to the ground, pleased with the outcome but feels guilty for taking a life.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

The sudden sound of the man’s voice startles ShadowRune out of her thoughts. The man’s stall looks innocent enough so she decides to take a look. She could do with some more flint for arrows, and it wouldn’t hurt to see if he has a clock of some kind. Clocks can be dead usefull when determining if it’s safe to come out of a cave. “Actually sir, I was just passing through town, but I wouldn’t mind seeing what you have for sale. Do you have anything in the way of an iron pickaxe or maybe even a clock?” she asks the posh looking man. “Ah, I’m afraid I don’t have any of those mining tools, lass,” the man states. “But you’re in luck! I do have fine clocks here. The normal price for one is around 245 mina, but for a pretty girl like you I’ll drop the price to 150 mina. What do you say?” She contemplates this for a minute. As of now, there’s around 600 mina in her coin purse. She could easily afford the clock. Redstone is dangerous to mine seeing as it’s found deep underground near lava. She would rather pay the mina for it than fight any monsters that might be lurking in caves. The last thing she would need while mining near lava is one of those blasted creepers sneaking up behind her. Making her decision, she replies, “That price is fine by me,” and pays for the clock. “Thank you very much sir!” she thanks the man. He waves his hand and replies, “Think nothing of it. And if you are still looking for a pickaxe, might I suggest the local blacksmith? I’m quite certain you’ll find what you seek there.” ShadowRune thanks the man again and sets off in search of the blacksmith.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

This small hut and the loot inside of it just seem too good to be true. It’s the perfect setup for a trap of some sort. Bandits would have no problem setting a trap for travelers inside the hut and then steal all their belongings. ShadowRune is unsure of whether or not she should go in. Her iron axe is in a sorry state with huge chips and cracks in it. She could use those iron bars to make a new one. But is it worth it? There’s probably around a fifty percent chance of this being a setup or a truly abandoned house. If there are bandits, she doesn’t know how many of them there might be. ShadowRune decides the risk isn’t worth it. She could always go mining for more iron or buy it from town shops. Gold swords are virtually worthless against any iron weapon. ShadowRune swiftly walks away from the house. Something about that deserted hut just doesn’t seem right.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

This is a sudden but pleasant surprise. ShadowRune did not expect to come across anyone for at least a few days. These people appear friendly, and they are offering food. Her stomach rumbles, reminding her that she hasn’t eaten in days. Hunger wins the better of her as she accepts the invitation. The group warmly smiles back and offers her a seat next to the fire. A handsome blond elf offers her a fire roasted pork chop along with a hearty helping of mushroom stew. “It looks like you haven’t eaten in a few days. Are you lost?” he asks, concern written all over his aristocratic features. ShadowRune nods vigorously between mouthfuls of pork. “Yes. To be honest, I’m completely lost. It was luck that I stumbled upon your camp.” A stocky dwarf nods his head in agreement. “Aye. To where would ye be headin’ lass?” She finishes up the last of the pork chop before saying, “I’m not entirely sure. I guess to the nearest town as long as it’s not in the middle of nowhere.” The dwarf replies, “The nearest town? That’d be not a day’s journey from here. Our camp is on the way there so ye can travel with us in the mornin’ unless ye’d rather travel at night and brave the creepers?” he says with a chuckle. “No, I think I’ll pass on fighting creepers. Thank you for your kindness,” she says. ShadowRune spends the rest of the night filling up on pork and mushrooms and sharing stories with the travelers.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

This does not bode well. That road is the only way in and out of this town. Anyone who travels it is likely to get attacked. If she wants to leave town, ShadowRune will have to go down that road. Quite a few people are joining this raiding party. At least twenty-five people have volunteered to accompany the fifteen guards. The odds of getting wounded in this fight are pretty small. The reward is rather tempting: 200 mina to each volunteer. There’s no way ShadowRune can pass this up. It’s a good chance to chase these thugs out of the area and earn a hefty reward. ShadowRune steps forward and adds her name to the list of volunteers. Things have been calm lately and she’s itching for some adventure. The raiding party sets out for the bandit camp, and ShadowRune is in the middle of the group. No sense in standing in the front. Those people have a greater chance at being shot at with arrows if the bandits have any. It's always better to safe than sorry.

I am accepting you under the conditions you understand that magic should be learnt through Roleplay, and is frowned upon when players include the teaching in their biography without actually learning it in game,

-

However, my task is to access your roleplay ability over your character, and I trust you will be a great addition to this server, bidding this acceptance.

-

Good luck, and welcome to Asulon, you must now wait for a GM to implement you via the Whitelist tool
