Dearest Brothers and Sisters of Malinor,

With the current crisis on the mainlands, I have decided to address the Holy Princedom about our current state. Despite the hardships and emergency that has gripped the other nations, I am pleased to announce that we have not had any outbreaks of the pandemic here in the city of Normandor.

This has been due to the vigilance of the Sentinels as well as the cooperation of each and everyone of you. You all have my utmost gratitude for granting the council your patience and wisdom.

I know that this quarantine has been stressful, and unfortunately I cannot give any idea to when it will let up. We are currently awaiting reports to see if the plague is beginning to wane. In addition we are looking into ways to provide a cure so that we do not need to live in fear of even one citizen being infected.

In order to ease the burden of the quarantine, I have decided to waiver all taxes and rents owed for this elven week. All balances will remain as they are. If you owe from elven weeks prior, garnishes and reclamations will be postponed for another elven week. Unfortunately this means that wages cannot be paid for quotas being filled. Though with the restrictions currently in place, I'd find it hard to believe any were filled at all. But take heart that if you are one of our workers and do in fact have a filled quota that it can be used to fulfill the next weeks instead.

We are also blessed with bountiful harvests prior to the plague. If any are in need of food, please see one of our Sentinels and they will provide you and your families the food you need. Our food stores will hold out for quite some time longer, so rationing of food is not needed.

Despite the dire situation concerning the plague, there is great news. The High Council has elected two new Princes, Dante and Isirack. Commander Isirack has served under Normandor since its inception many decades ago. He has served faithfully as a Commander in the Sentinels and has shown unwavering loyalty and support to the Princedom. Dante has been a dear friend of mine since I first arrived in Laurelin nearly sixty years ago. He has always lent a helping hand and shown a kind heart to any who was in need. I am proud to sit upon the sacred council with both of these Princes. May their wisdom aid us into the future.

I have had many concerns brought up about the coastal region on the southern edge of the Emerald Peninsula. Many homes were built in haste along the docks and in the Elven Plains bordering Haelun'or. At the time, these homes were built with no one to occupy them. Due to our growing population, this will soon change.

Once we have word that the plague is less of a threat and we have a means to mitigate any future threats of infections, we will be looking to extend our housing projects into the southern edge of the peninsula.

One of our aims is to remodel the empty homes to have a more conservative and ante-Asulon design. This should conform to the tastes of those who dwelt in Laurelin before the exodus to Asulon. This will take some time as it will require that some trees be grown. The project will progress as materials allow it. If you wish to aid in this, we are seeking wood cutters to help contribute the needed lumber. But again this can only start once we can assure that the risk of an epidemic is low.

Many of you have probably seen the large building being erected at the south eastern corner of the island. The College of Malinor is becoming closer to completion. Prince Lafthi is currently heading the design and function of the college itself. We are in need of books to construct bookshelves for the library below.

Subjects that will be taught will include history, archery, swordplay, herbalism, and alchemy. Other subjects can also be taught as well. If you wish to aid as either a worker or teacher at the college, please see Prince Lafthi.

Some of you may have noticed that I have not been as active in the city within the last few months (couple of days RL time). I wish to set your minds at ease and inform you that I am fine and well. My absence has been due to expecting a child. I am delighted to announce that Prince Lafthi and myself are now the proud parents of a baby girl. Little Kaethra is doing well and keeping my hands full to say the least.

I will be taking a little more time from my duties as High Princess to care for our daughter. This should prove to not be an issue now that we have two more Princes sitting on our council. Arrangements will be made to ensure our projects continue forth as stated.

Again I would like to thank each and everyone of you for the support and cooperation you have given. Without you we wouldn't have had the success and prosperity that we currently enjoy. May Malin's blessings be with you all.

Sythra Duskwind

((Assuming it is a notice of sorts.))

*Toren mouths the words absent-mindedly as his eyes scan each sentence upon the parchment. He approves of the new Council members and hopes they will lessen the burden of sovereignty greatly. Toren muses for a moment, wondering that if he asked, if they would give him back his title as a Prince. He thinks on it briefly and decides he is content where he is.

The Elf is especially happy to hear of Sythra's and Lafthi's new child. And at the mention of Laurelin, he feels a particular stab of sorrow as memories flood his mind; recollections of his beloved Laurelin and his tenure as a Prince of the Council and the years spent as the Capital's caretaker, memories of High Prince Native and how the air of Aegis seemed somehow sweeter and the trees and flowers somehow greener. He cannot bring himself to love Asulon as he loved Aegis.

He found his hand has clenched into a fist, crumpling the once stiff piece of parchment into a wrinkled mess. He frowns and smooths the paper, folding and pocketing the notice. He decides at a later time to visit Sythra and Lafthi to offer his most sincere congratulations. Toren decides to take another walk around Normandor. It is only his thousandth one.*

I wish to congratulate you on your child, Princess. You and your husband deserve to be proud to welcome a newborn Elf into the City of Normandor. Congratulations. She will be a fair young Princess as you are today.
