In-Character:

Character Name: Gakmat von Grotuitus

What Race are you?: Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):Northerner

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Gakmat von Grotuitus hails from the northern mountains of Oren. Northerners, as they are called, are known for their bulky and grizzly build. With long, golden, thick hair and beard he’s the image of a survivalist.

During the years of the Great War, Gakmat fought bravely against the Orcs and Elves that invaded the lands. During this time he became great friends with many of the Dwarven Legion soldiers, one of which was Garren Oxbeard. Garren was his right hand man for years; they shared blood, sweat and tears during the years of the war. The fighting eventually took its toll, and Garren wanted out. Being that Garren was part of the Legion there was no way of getting out during a time of war. So… he decided that the only way out was to end it.

“TRAITOR!” yelled Gakmat as Garren was trying to quiet him.

“You’re a traitor to your people! You’re a traitor to me!”

Garren stood silently.

“This ol’ war won’t just end with us lad’, it will continue on long after we’ are dead. You know tha’t, this must end.”

Garren and Gakmat stared at each other for a moment.

“I’ve made arrangements to get us both out lad. C’mon we’ve been thru’ so much togetha’ that we cannot let it end like this.”

Garren held his hand out.

“Please, you’re like a son to me.”

Gakmat paused for a moment. A tear rolled down his face as his blade slipped into Garren’s gut.

“Why?” as his blood ran from his body.

“You will be remembered for what you were Garren, not what you are. You were like the father I never had… but I couldn’t let you do this.”

The life from Garrens eyes began to leave. Moments later that life was gone. Gakmat shriveled for a moment. Tears turned to rage, only a few words uttered from his mouth.

“This war WILL end, by your blood.”

Years pass, the war ends with peace finally being restored. Gakmat survived the war, but at what cost? His dreams are filled with visions of death and war. To drown out such dreams he began to drink, in fact he began to drink a lot. An ale that he fancies during such hard times is Dunwood Mead. Potent and effective, he drinks until his hearts contend, some nights he wanders the wilderness and wakes up in a tree the next morning.

When sober, Gakmat can be a serious and straight forward man, but still have the silver tongue to be a good trader. Being as he was he can still protect himself with a blade if need be, but he tries to avoid conflict as much as possible. He’s out to make mina and to gain influence with the people. Someday he wishes to settle down and own his own bar/inn. He hopes to make his own brew of ales someday making him famous, but for now he’s got bigger fish to fry in Asulon.

What are your Character's ambitions?: Wealth, and the pursuit of the finest ale.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Pickaxe, sword.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Trade, and survivability.

Other Information about your Character: Can be a drunkard at times.

Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Being a drunkard during my pass time, I wouldn’t really know what is going on to begin with, so chances are I would look at them, take another drink, and move along. While they are beating up this halfing for mina, I would wander about, possibly tripping and “accidentally” falling into a few women’s breasts. By the time they are done I’ll be long gone… or asleep in a bush somewhere.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

I'd respond with a grin and say "What does a guy gotta' do to make some coin?" I'd expect a smirk reply of "Working the ol' inn if you got the body for it". A short chuckle will follow suite and the shopkeeper and I would have a discussion of trade, where we been at, places to stop by if possible, etc. A sense of brotherhood is with some traders.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Being slightly greedy, I would take them thinking that if I didn't do so, someone else would. After all this is the wilderness, and anything small that I could fit in a small bag could be taken without worry... but you never know the owner might come back, best to be on my way.

You know... this sword could fetch a fine coin. Better keep it hidden.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

I would stay to the forest, listening in on conversations. Maybe I would get a good feel for who or what these people are? If they are good folk, from what I can tell, I would walk into camp with a warm hello. If they be people who wish to deceive and kill another for gold; then I would seek food somewhere else. There are plenty of small animals to eat in the wilds, one just needs a simple rock and a twig and a little bit of string.

Rabbit makes a fine stew with some potatoes and a little bit of mead for flavor.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

Cautious. I'm not one for conflict, but something does drive me to want to fight. And if there is coin involved maybe it wouldn't be so bad? I would go up to a guard and ask "What seems to be the problem?"

"The ol' road be controlled by dem' bandits. We can't get supplies from 'our farms if they keep at it the way dey been."

"Have you tried negotiating with them?"

"Dem' gents' just want gold. We dun got much to give them so we gotta fight dem' off."

With smirk I reply "How much are they asking for?"

"One hundred gold pieces."

"I tell you what, I will give you one hundred gold pieces to end this peacefully, in return you give me a small wagon with supplies and point me to the next town."

"Let me as' the other guard den' eh?"

"By all means, please do."

Short while later...

"Dun', gives us the gold so we can get dem' boys out of the road."

"Just be sure to have the wagon ready by morning, if you could be so kind."

Conflict... avoided. Lost some gold but the wagon should fetch me at least one hundred and fifty, not including the wheels and the cover. Solid investment if I do say myself.

Anything else you would like to say?:

May change skin, hard to find good ones so if you got any good sites, please tell me.
