Referendum: War

A birch-wood burr desk stood in Haelun'or College next to the largest section of shelves, relatively plain craftsmanship for the pieces of furniture - a set made for function and practicality; in a flood, you could depend on a desk like that, though for now it served a more straight-forward purpose, which any citizen of the Silver City would easily identify, notice or no. A thin slab of darker wood - smoothed to be immaculately level planed - lies neatly beside a stack of thicker than usual parchment, several feathered quills and a jar of extremely fine sand next to liberal ink bottles. Attached to an entrance column, those given access to the library read this simple message:

A war of consequence rages between the sovereignties of the Renoran. The Bortuan have represented their request for the populace of Haelun'or to aid them in their efforts against the Aeltalikrug'onn. Requested is your name, your choice and your reason.

maehr'sae hiylun'ehya.

With his back toward the stair, Dio sits with an indescript volume, resting his elbow on a folded leg and covering his face up to the eyes holding the book, reading and waiting.

Elixir takes a brief glance at the notice, a long sigh is released from her lips as she reaches for a quill, pondering on what to write. After a minute of starring into space, she hastily scribbles down the required details.

<-=+=->

Name: Elixir Kane

Choice: To follow the Bortuan into battle.

Reason: I was there when the Bortu visited, his reasons were sincere and we owe them as an ally to assist. The Uruk's scum nation will most certainly target Haelun'or if the Bortuan nation is destroyed, we must give what aid we can to those who need it. From what I understand, the Maheral will be attending this war himself too, I feel it only right to follow him into battle.

We cannot allow the Uruks to see us as weak after all, I may not be the swordsman, but I can certainly muster up the strength required for the bow. I hope indeed that my fellow Mali'aheral will make the right choice.

Ardene sees the note and ponders for a second. She then shortly posts her reply. It reads ...

Name: Ardene Telrunya

Choice: To support the Bortuan but with monetary assistance along with weaponry and arms. [Which I do not mind smithing!]

Reason: I have spent many years with the Bortu people. They are good and hearty people and deserve help. Sadly, I do not want to endanger out people. It takes two of us to take on one orc. I fear that there will be too much causalities for this to be good. They are already rich in ores and weaponry though... Maybe we could lend them a ship or two. Perhaps we can give them some minas...

Seth hears the notices from Dio, he thinks for a good amount of time before writing.

"Name: Seth Calith, Sillumir.

Choice: I would prefer that we would help them with supplies.

Reson: I would like to keep mali of Haelun'or safe, but if the Maheral himself will go to war, he will be followed by my sil and my berr, untill the end I will stand by his side."

Name: Drecar Razier

Choice: If absolutely necessary I will aid in combat but I would prefer to send supplies.

Reason: It is important to aid allies but more important to keep Mali'Aheral alive.

Taking notice of the parchment and reading it with gusto, Lucion shakes his head with irritation and speedily writes down his own answer.

Taking any part in any conflict is detrimental to our city; wasting the Mali'aheral's supplies on yet another purile mainland conflict is something I can never support, even when being waged against the uruk dirt.

Making alliances or deals of any kind push us deeper into the business of the mainland. When we have planted our feet into the muck, we will never be able to scrub it from our boots.

For the benefit of relations, I feel we should further seek the opinions of the Old Princedom. We are "Allied" after all. In the loosest sense of the term.

-Suika reads the parchment with an unchanged composure. Quill in hand, she begins to write in an elegant cursive. Each letter seems to have a stronger descending stroke and a lighter rising stroke. The beautiful smell of ink wafts up from the bottle and the paper as it marks the comprehensive thought onto paper.-

Name: -This section is left blank-

Choice: -This section is also left purposefully blank-

Reason: It need not be said that any sort of sale to a friends does not need be announced. Business is shrewd and non-discriminant. Neither the sale of smithed arms nor mercenaries and simple shadows that influence a fight need to be announced as an alliance. It is important to keep a distance but at the same time let live the natural consequence of war; business. It is impossible to place blame on a nation that does not "ally" itself, but in order to be "allied" need it be announced? Need there be a poll or a survey that even asks the opinion of the citizens? Let the shadows of business and war stay in the shadows. A simple loan with interest should not be announced in the first place and should be looked upon as "business", rather than as "aid". Thus follows the true shrewdness of Mali'Aheral politics. Thus is maehr'sae hiylun'ehya.

*Begins reading the responses brought forth by the other Mali and slowly contemplates his two cents worth*

Sadly I come back to a city slightly slower than what my memory served tho remember. With our sleeping elves called by Lucion it seems we have our own matters to address.

The silver city once aided dying cells only to risk having our very own city ripped from us. Now thankfully art this current time things are aleast slightly peaceful allowing us to raise our heads once again higher and strong er than before. In agreement with lucion we should not waste our precious minerals and sacred life's over something so trivial and meaningless unless our very existence is threatened let man fight there own war.
