Out-Of-Character

Minecraft Account Name: GreatSmirnovius

How old are you?: 16

Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Eastern/USA

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a 16 year old who enjoys programming, reading, biking and playing various games.

How much time could you be on the server weekly?: 20-30 hours.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is putting yourself into someone else's shoes, giving you the opportunity to see and learn things differently. For me it presents both challenges and rewards, I love doing it even though it is hard at times.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have quite a bit of experience with Pencil and Paper Roleplaying games (DnD and such)

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Player knowledge is a related term in Dnd. Player knowledge is knowledge of the world that you as a person have. Applying this knowledge while playing a character who has no way of possessing this knowledge is Meta-Gaming.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: Power-Emoting is forcing an event to happen in an RP environment, taking a decision out of a persons hands. You could say "I kill Bob", but this would be Power-Emoting and would not give Bob a chance to respond. Instead, you should say "I swing my sword at Bob".

What do you expect this server will be like?: I hope to see a good amount of quality RP.

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I tried Mine-RP.net but was disappointed by the apparent misnomer "-RP" I saw no sign of RP, so I left.

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, of course.

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes.

How did you hear about us? After leaving Mine-RP, I searched for a good RP server and came here.

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: I accidentally posted an incomplete application, but it has since been deleted.

In-Character:

Character Name: Ranley Hornblower

What Race are you? (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Halfling

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Height: 3 feet 3 inches

Appearance: A sturdy halfling with bright eyes and an everpresent smile. He has brownish hair and eyebrows, as well as characteristically(for his family) slightly pointed ears.

Age: 30

The child of a seamstress and a barkeep, much of Ranley's childhoodwas spent playing practical jokes andsinging songs for travelers at the Drunken Sheep Inn (preparing for his dream career as local bard). At a very young age, Ranley often went hunting with his father in the Wilds to put food on the table at home. His prowess is a source of great pride to him, and he (like many halflings) is a good shot with a bow, a snowball, and any other thrown weapon. As good as he may be at hunting, Ranley has never delighted in killing, only doing so to feed himself and others when the need is great. When not out hunting or simply playing with friends, young Ranley would often listen to his mother read the lore of the world of Asulon, which he found enchanting. Upon leaving his parents burrow, Ranley struck out as a local bard, reciting the ancient stories that he loved so well and making up new ones as he went. He often hung around the Drunken Sheep inn and told its denizens tales of an ancient world or of a recent hunting trip.

While well loved and tremendously popular as village storyteller, Ranley finally decided that it lacked the excitement that he needed to keep from being bored. Acting on this, he recently packed up his bedroll and some books of lore and headed out into the wide world, hoping to find his destiny. In his heart, however, Ranley will always yearn for the trees and the calm, still waters of the Vale calling him home.

Ranley, while not a coward, will always avoid a violent confrontation if possible. He will always try to make a clever double-cross or escape to avoid a fight. If he absolutely has to, however, he is a skilled boxer and all-round fighter, having once won a Vale-wide boxing competition.

What are your Character's ambitions?: Ranley wants to see the world for all it is and eventually settle down back in his beloved Vale. He also hopes to use this trip to collect more lore and acquire as much knowledge as possible. He also wants to start a library in the Vale if possible.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): His fathers old hunting bow, given to him after their first hunt. While rarely used, it provides him with memories of his family, so it goes wherever he goes.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Ranley is a talented storyteller and hunter

A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: See attachment.

Other Information About your Character: 1. While Ranley enjoys a good boating expedition once in a while, he doesnot like swimming. 2. Ranley likes dark ale. 3. Ranley wants his house to have waterfront property. 4. While being completely unfazedby orcs, Ranley has a strange inherent distrust for dwarves, perhaps because a dwarf once spilled mead on him while he was telling a story.

Open-Response-Questions

Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP.

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Quickly stowing my mushroom basket in some nearby tallgrass, I throw my cloak over my back and put my hood up, assuming the postureof an old man. I then approach the assailants with the slow, wobbling gait.Absolutely stunned by the sudden appearance of a witness, they drop thehalfling and advance towards me. When I see the halfling get on his feet, Iimmediately yell: "Run!!!" and take off running in the oppositedirection. ---- A while later, having returned to the Vale, I suddenlyrecognize the halfling I helped escape walking down a road and shout a greeting. He is happy to see me and we share several ales (on me) in the Drunken Sheep.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

I cast a practiced eye over his wares and, realizing mypockets are empty and the night is still young, look up at him."Hmm", I say, "Could you direct me to the nearest inn? I'mfamished! Its a long road from here to the Vale!" He kindly gives me thedirections and I carry on my business.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?

I cautiously enter the crumbling hut, making sure not tostep on any hidden contraptions that may bar my way (I have heard that similartraps are common in this area). Once I am sure that the way is clear, I leap tothe chest and search it frantically. When I discover the contents, I lookaround and think for a minute. The hut, after all, seems abandoned... andhardly anyone comes this way... "Aww, whats the harm in taking some?" Following this remark, I take half of theiron bars and the sword, leaving the rest for some other lucky traveler.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

Overjoyed to see potential friends after so many days alone, I introduce myself as a travelling bard, and propose to tell them the tale of my escapade with an angry orc in return for food and shelter.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?

Interested as always by an offer of mina, I happily step up and volunteer myself. The leader of the party is dubious as to my potential use to him, but I assure him that my expertise will serve him well in his endeavor.

Anything else you would like to say? It's been a long time since I last filled out a character sheet, and this one is probably one of the most memorable. I cannot stress enough how much I hope that you will accept me onto a world as rich as yours. Thank you, and please accept me!
