The Legion is a collection of militant Dwarves of both genders who make up the Dwarven Hold of Kal’Mugdor, they are responsible for the defense of Kal’Mugdor and also the defense of Kingdom lands throughout the Dwarven Empire.

The Dwarvish Oath:

We the Mighty Dwarves swear to live the ways

passed down by our ancestors and the paragons,

without hesitation

Resurrection of the Dwarven ways of life through the means of

Spreading the old ways of Urguan

to the heretics who do not abide.

The unity of Dwarven people through

peaceful speakings or armed force

Recovery of Dwarven heritage including

the Dwarven Artifacts and Relics,

protecting lands owned by our kin

and Reclaiming lost Dwarven Honor by those same means.

Protection and shelter to Dwarves who ask for it,

if providing they deserve such an honor.

Vengeance on all anarchists, heretics and other miscreants,

and fierce retribution for all stains on the Dwarves Honor.

Conscription:

The Dwarves who live in the city of Kal’Mugdor are to be drafted into the Obsidian Legion as a defensive and offensive force throughout the Empire, being drafted into the military will lead to a few bonuses for a Dwarf to enjoy such as:

Standard Pay; Those in the Obsidian Legion that serve their time shall receive a payment under certain circumstances to pay off their taxes or purchase goods for their own use.

Free housing; A new recruit may gain free housing within the barracks and must share this lodging with a single comrade, the recruit that partakes in this bonus will lose their lodging after purchasing a larger home within the hold of Kal’Mugdor.

Pay

The payment system of the Dwarvish army is done through the means of minimal payment every week for passive Guard duty, reward for the survival of a important battle, and by the means of doing special duties which shall create a decent award for the action a soldier has taken during his military service.

Guard Payment:

Guard Payment is a method of obtaining currency within the order of the Obsidian Legion, a soldier must have performed active duty during a full Dwarvish year where they have committed his or her time to protecting the Hold of Kal’Mugdor by the means of operating the city gate and by dealing with minor disputes between Dwarves or Bandits.

methods of advancement:

Dwarven year’s worth of active duty = 500 minas award

War Payment:

The manner of obtaining currency from acts committed during a war or battle is an important factor in the recording of Data on a Dwarf’s performance and simply as previously mentioned a method of gaining money for the active soldier. This is done by giving information (with a form of evidence) to the commanding leader of the Obsidian Legion to rake in rewards such as currency and status.

methods of advancement:

kills = 100 minas award + status increase

survival = 100 minas award + status increase

collection of loot for kingdom = 200 minas award + status increase

Commissions Payment:

Payment through the method of Commission often occurs when a Dwarvish soldier has brought in a Dwarf that has gone Stark Raving Mad, another Guard who is not performing active duty, or by the means of dealing with Kingdom Bounties placed on small time crime.

Training

Practice or Training one’s combat skills and labor talents is an important factor within the Dwarven Kingdom as well as the Obsidian Legion.

Combat:

Military practice is often done once or twice every Dwarvish year to hone the skills of both recruits and veteran soldiers so that battles may be planned in advance and new tactics be learned in order to ensure that the Dwarvish “war engine” runs efficiently during times of war or battle and allow for fresh meat (recruits) to easily gain the necessary skills that make for the important components of the Dwarvish combat style.

Such practices include:

Parading (marching in formation)

Drilling (Fighting in formation)

Hunting (To train one’s skills)

Combat Practice (To train one’s fighting prowess)

Personal practice:

Hunting (To train one’s skills)

Combat Practice (To train one’s fighting prowess)

Dueling (To test one’s capabilities)

Labor:

Labor training is done through one’s own time with or without supervision of a specialist in the field the legionnaire is interested in, and allows for the recruit or avid soldier to partake in specialized military fields or to gain currency during times of peace.

Guard Duty:

The Duty of Guarding is a crucial role within the Hold of Kal’Mugdor, Militants within the Obsidian Legion are expected to serve for one Dwarvish year with pay to protect the Hold and may after obtain more pay by doing more guard work, duties of guarding often include:

Gate management

Is the duty in which a Legionnaire is to protect the mighty stone gate way of the Kal’Mugdor Hold, during this time it is his or her goal to open and close the gates depending on whom is requesting entry, there are two types of phrases a Guard must adhere to when challenging someone who wishes entry and a list of features a person may bear that will not allow them access.

The “challenge” Phrases:

“W’o be ye?”

“Wut duh ye wunt in da city ov Kal’Mugdor?”

Continuing the “challenge”:

If the figure requesting entrance of the Hold has any of the following features he is to be denied entrance to the city unless stated otherwise by an official from the Grand Council,

clothing; Hoods, Helmets, Masks, Goggles, and other forms of face covering articles.

appearance; Tall Height (Anyone higher than a Dwarf), Bone like structure, lacking flesh on “his or her” bones, glowing eyes, scale like hides, colored skin and tusks (Orc Scum).

Patrol

Patrolling is vital to the Hold’s well being be it either tunnel clearances, when a guard goes into the deep mines and disposes of creeps and critters who may harm the miners, or doing surface checks where the militant will do tasks similar to the tunnel clearance but on the surface.. Any peculiar sightings are to be reported to the Legion Pride Bearer for further inspection.

Tunnel Clearing:

A guard is to travel deep into the underbelly of the Hold known as Mugdor (Mines) where he or she will patrol and examine tunnels slaying beasts whom challenge the well being of the miners, other duties during this time include the lighting of tunnels and the reports of collapses, or peculiar holes.

Surface Checks:

The Guard is to wander about the perimeter of Kal’Mugdor where he or she will be charged with examining the wall that protects the Hold’s border as well as slay and critters who threaten travelers, any peculiar sightings such as wall breaks, mysterious structures, or orc presence, is to be reported.
