The Edgehand Clan

Unlike most dwarves, how the Edgehands came to be is nothing grand. They are not heros and they have not been around the public for too long. The clan originates back in the early days of Aegis, when King Urguan still reigned. A group of Dwarven families lived in the peaks of the mountains surrounding the original kingdom of Kal'Urguan, rarely did they come down. Among the group of dwarves was a man named Rorun. Rorun had a wife, two sons and a daughter. Not a special dwarf at all, every night Rorun would go to the tavern and meet with all the other men of the small settlement. As the men of this settlement rarely participated in battles, they would feed their need for violence on each other. That being said, every night there would be huge drunken brawls that every dwarf in the tavern took part in. Rorun had a special move he would use that came to be known as the Edgehand in the drunken minds of his friends. He would make his hand flat and chop swiftly at the upper gut of his opponent. This usually resulted in the opponent falling, hands on his stomach and vomiting. Soon enough, Rorun would be known as Rorun Edgehand by everyone on the mountain. Thus, the name Edgehand is born.

It was not until the move to Asulon that the Edgehands decided to be more active in the public of the dwarves. They participated in the battles between the growing enemies of dwarves and orcs and they helped with whatever needed to be done around the capital. Soon, after a few generations of Edgehands, Dulku Edgehand would try and turn the small group of Edgehands into a true clan amongst the dwarves. Proud of his family, Dulku continues to build the Edgehands into a truly great clan.

((Now I'm not here to be the bear of bad news, and i'm not really one for lore that couldn't of possibly been true, but basically, how could you of lived in the mountains around Kal'Urguan when there were no caves no houses no nothing. And you say lived in the peaks of the mountain, and i've been up their plenty of times back in Aegis. I'm all for a new clan, but it just doesn't make sense to me. :/))

((You don't have to, it's just not in my favor to have people who make themselves look like an old clan and they've been around forever but in truth they havn't. Like i'm 1800 years old in RP and it would be like someone who just joined the server as a dwarf trying to RP as someone who is the same age as me, they havn't been around to see everything in Aegis, and Asulon, and wouln't know all the RP.))

edit: ((plus I don't really know how long you have RP'd your chracter on the server. So it could just be bad judgement of me. :P))

(( Well, once again. We're not a special clan and we're not very big. I even stated in the lore that we were never a /true/ clan until now. We were simply a family who lived up on a hill. I'm not special and neither is the clan, YET. ;) ))

EDIT: ((You might be thinking that Rorun, the original guy who had the family on the hill is me. It's not, it's just a dwarf with a small family with a nickname amongst his friends. My character is only about 200 years old, not nearly as old as you or most dwarves.))

((i think the lore should be expanded, it doesnt realy make sense to me either. it is like the starbreakers, they lived in aegis for years without someone knowing about them. it will be usefull to have some more lore because i am working on a Family tree and i want the current clans in it. so when this is a accepted dwarven clan (i dont know if it is yet) i would love to add you all in it.))

((It is an accepted dwarven clan, we were recognized today. I am going to make what the lore is trying to say very clear in this message because people keep asking me. I understand that all dwarves were once sons of Urguan, sure. However, we are not a special clan in the slightest. Why did nobody hear of us? Because we were simply hicks and hermits living up on a mountain -- The "we" in this sentence consists of a man, a women, and his kids. This family did not yet have a surname, however the man in the post Ruran did end up being named "the Edgehand" which eventually developed into his family's surname. That being said, they were still not a clan. A few generations later [still not a clan] when we traveled to Asulon my character Dulku wanted to turn his small family into a true clan. That being said, Dulku and some family members [cousins and brothers] started calling themselves the Edgehand clan. Eventually we were able to recruit some clanless folk in Kal'Anart and now we are recognized as a proper clan by the Grandaxes, The Mountain King, Ironguts, Etc. Once again, the lore is to be developed in game because as of right now we are simply a family rising into a clan.))

((EDIT: I guess I can add a section about why we left the Urguan name long ago. However it would be something as simple as: "Urguan thought to highly and expected far too much of his sons for their liking." However, once again they were not quite a clan. If anyone would like to help, please send me a PM. I'm quite new to dwarven RP.))

((I think Longbeard just wants to know how your clan is related to Urguan. Like was the first Edgehand the grandnephew of one of Urguan's sons or something. You don't have to be a direct son of Urguan but how are you, in the end, related to him?))

[i don't think it's really necessary for a clan to have a line down from Urguan as in a family tree. Some of the less known clans didn't keep record of such things as most families in real life didn't keep track of the family line unless you where a noble.

It seems like all the previous clans till now made themselves as nobles. We are now seeing a shift where instead of having like 3 main clans, we still have 3 main clans and a bunch of lesser clans. Makes for good RP and helps in the fact that smaller families can be more easily managed.]
