Rilath 3719 Share Posted July 29, 2012 To me, this seems VERY unnecessary. We are a PG-13 server, not a PG/G server. In PG-13 rated things, cursing/swearing happens. Granted, it is a small amount, but it still happens. We should not hand out warnings to people who pepper in a swear every once in a blue moon. As one of these people please don't do this Madame Freya.
Bircalin 332 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Freya is not the one who made the rule. Ever heard the phrase 'Don't shoot the messenger'? The least you can do is be grateful that she is reminding you of the rules that are commonly being broken. It's simply a reminder guys, the rule has always been there. It clearly states in the SERVER RULES not to swear OOC'ly, and I see no reason to swear OOC'ly at all, to be honest. If you read my post, I said I will warn for OBSESSIVE swearing. It seems people will find loopholes in everything. I'm merely asking people to not going around saying "You're a f----- c---" in OOC. I've seen it recently and i'm disgusted. Rilath 3719 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Bircalin, swearing has always been frowned upon in OOC. But it has never been a warnable offense. I swear more often than anyone I know, and personally, I feel as if this change alone will grant me a forum ban.
Watyll 1104 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Can we use abbreviations such as wtf? And every once in a while use minor swear words?

I don't see why you need to swear on the forum... and it's always been a warnable offence, people just don't uphold the rule. Can we use abbreviations such as wtf? And every once in a while use minor swear words? Yes, things like that are fine, to my knowledge.
Bawg 494 Share Posted July 29, 2012 An excessive use of swearing should be warned about. As ShadowGunX and Hamin said. It is the excessive use of the words that should be punished for. Not everytime someone says "Fawk" or "Skah" (Replaced it with different words so I don't get a warning.). It would waste the time of the GM staff, and the Forum Moderators time. To just check multiple posts, and replies looking for foul language, it is highly not needed. If we accept mature members, shouldn't they be mature enough to not say "Fawk" in every sentence they say?... I respect what you want, but it is of no use. Rilath 3719 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Freya, this was not a personal attack on you, and I ask that you do not treat it as such. It was a general statement about the rule in general and directed at no one in particular. Also, I believe the word you are looking for is excessive swearing. Pointing that out to clear things up, not to make fun of you or anything else it could be construed as.
Bircalin 332 Share Posted July 29, 2012 I swear like no tomorrow. I understand it's difficult to stop yourself. I do it without thinking, I don't like swearing, I'd rather I didn't to be honest, but I can control it. It's much easier to control through text and typing than talking because you can think about what you're going to say, before you say it. I'm actually surprised it hasn't been something you can be warned from this whole time. So long as people think before they post, this shouldn't be a problem! ;)

I know it wasn't a personal attack, not sure why you think I conceived it as such (People are so obsessed over personal attack nowadays, they need to HTFU (look it up.) ). Also, meh, obsessive is fine too in my opinion, it's just a word, and it's clearly written down in the server rules.
Watyll 1104 Share Posted July 30, 2012 I don't know where to post this...could someone take away my warn status? I got it long ago when I first joined and I've been a good little LOTCer since then.
