ShmadCat 58 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: King_Dreamer How old are you?: 16 years Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Melbourne, Australia (GMT +10) Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes, I do. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a student, who enjoys playing video games in my spare time. I am generally polite, respectful and I follow the rules. My favorite type of minecraft servers is role-play. I enjoy role-playing, because I am creative and like to create different personas for my character. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Probably about 3-4 hours a day, so 21-28 hours a week. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Role-play is creating a persona and acting as if you are the person you have created. It is playing a role as if you are in an act or play, without breaking character. Also in this case contributing to this virtual world. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: I have role-played in various games. From single player games, my favorite being the Elder Scrolls series, to multiplayer games such as World of Warcraft (Role play servers) and I have also been on various minecraft role-play servers since it was in early beta, recently a skyrim themes role-play server. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: Meta gaming is using real life info (OOC) while in character, so basically try not to do this because it takes away from the immersion of you and other characters. It is also against the 15th and 17th laws of the server. An example of this is using someones username that you see above their head, rather than asking their in-game name. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Emoting is: Power emoting is when you do unfair emotes towards another character, such as attacking them, forcing something to happen with an emote, using un-approved RP magic or not following the 2nd or 15th laws. When using an emote you can't force something to happen to another player. Here is an example of power gaming. Player 1: "Hello there stranger, would you care to have a duel?" Player 2: "Ok then, let's fight" Player 1: Action: un-sheaths sword Player 2: Action: Uses a spell to turn "player 1" into a toad <-- POWER EMOTING Player 2: "Haha, I have won." In your own Words, define what Out of Character (OOC) is: OOC is when you are "out of character" and is when you use information that you know in real life. In your own Words, define what In Character (IC) is: IC is your "in-character" which is you as you are role-playing, it is using info that your character knows. In your own Words, define what the difference between RP and RPG is: RP is role-playing, so it is playing a role of a character that either you created or is preset, when you role-play you act as someone else and don't break character. An RPG is a role-play game, it is a game in which you are playing the role of a protagonist and you get to make decisions and influence the game world. What do you expect this server will be like?: expect it will be a fair, populated and well-developed server. With a good community and well written law. I am also hoping that people abide the rules of role-play. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: Many in the past, but most recently this one: "abridell.enjin.com", it was a skyrim role-play server, I left it because of a lack of administrators and the few admin that were there, weren't very helpful. Also the community was rude and did not follow rules. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, I have read through all of the rules and understand them. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes, I most definitely do, by the looks of what I have seen they seem very fair and I am hoping that they are enforced well. How did you hear about us?: I was looking on google for role-play servers and this one showed up. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: Yes I have, I have used the advice given to create this one and improve on my last one. (You may only be Human, Orc, Elf or Dwarf!) : Orc What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Nomad Orc Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Durakai was born into battle, as most Nomad Orcs are. He has been out fighting alongside his brothers of the war Uzg for most of his life, but he always was slightly different from other orcs. After years of leading a band of orcs from his clan, they came across a group of elves while out protecting their land. The orcs fought viciously and were able to kill most of their enemies, but were in the end defeated by the wit and finesse of the elves, who killed the entire band of orcs...except for Durakai, who had been slashed in the face, had his left arm broken and was hit with an arrow and left to bleed out. Later that day a few farmers from a nearby estate found him, wounded but still breathing. They took him into their home and cared for him, which was strange seeing as they were humans and most humans fear or dislike orcs. When he woke up, he was in a rage he attacked one of the farmers, but in the end a group of them managed to pin him down, he didn't understand much of their language, but he understood enough to know that they saved him, this was where he gained his respect for the humans. Durakai felt that he owed these humans his life, so he worked on their farm for many years; in return they gave him shelter and food. While living with them, they taught him to read, write and speak their language, which is why he speaks the common language almost fluently, in terms of grammar but not accent. Although most people see orcs as stupid, this is not true they are in-fact good at what they learn, most of them are trained only to fight, but once Durakai learned to read, he began reading many tomes written my the humans, he learnt of the world and he began to think about purpose. So once he felt that he repaid his debt to the farmers, he set out to see the world, to learn, to find purpose and to come to terms with his scarred past. He has become a self proclaimed outcast (brudda, as he lived with humans) or a whitewash orc, as he does not feel worthy of rejoining the proud war nation, but some day he will. [Where he is now] . Durakai may be tamer than other nomad orcs, but he still maintains the fiery rage inside him . He still feels ashamed to have let his band of orcs die . Durakai is spiritual, he believes in fate and destiny, which he lets guide him on his journey . He has gray skin, dark brown hair and red eyes . He is blind in one eye and has a scar down his face (from the elf attack) . He has a broken arm that hasn't healed properly (from the elf attack) . He is extremely patient, for an orc . He is quite intelligent and wise, for an orc . Durakai travels all over, he never stays in one place . He longs to fight and happily welcomes battle . He sees war wounds as trophies . He is honorable and can show mercy . He hated thieves . His skill in close combat has degraded over the years . He has a fear of swimming . He is skilled with a bow . His patience and morals that he has developed sometimes get him into trouble in combat and make him seem weak to other orcs. . The fact that he is smart is a curse and a blessing, it makes it hard for him to fit in with other orcs and not many other races like orcs, so he mostly travels alone. . He files down his tusks; as for an orc they bring pride, which he does not think he deserves (This lessens his orcish accent) What are your Character's ambitions?: Durakai does not have many ambitions, as he travels wherever his feet take him and follows destinies path. The only desires that he cares to admit, is that he longs to feel his blood boil with the rush of battle and to see the world. But deep down, he wants to learn why he exists, what his true purpose is and find peace with his broken and dark past. After he finds his answers he also plans on returning to the war nation to fight along side his own kind. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): His bow What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Durakai is as capable as any other orc in hand-to-hand combat and with an axe. But his talent is with a bow, which he prefers to use in most combat situations as it requires skill, timing and allows him to think. He has also learned to farm, while spending time with the farmers who cared for him. He does however have his weaknesses, because he spent so much time out of combat while working on a farm, he has somewhat lost his feel for combat. He also has had a bone broken in his left arm, so he can still aim a bow as good as ever but his ability to fight up-close has been weakened. He still has the strength of an orc, however his reaction time in combat has degraded, as he now thinks too much rather than following his instincts because of all of the knowledge that he has learnt and never used to have. Subconsciously, he has had a strange fear of water and swimming since he was young, because his brother drowned as a child. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, copy and paste this link into your browser: ( http://tinyurl.com/Lotcscreenshot ): Other Information about your Character: None Open-Response-Questions Each and every question must be answered with a minimum of a single full paragraph and entirely in RP. Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Durakai protects the weak, welcomes a fight and does not like thieves. Halfling: “Help! Help! I am being attacked.” Durakai: “Shtand down thieves, do not harm da Snaak.” Thief 1: “Oh look, an orc. Perhaps "it" has some loot for us?” Thief 2: “Yes, how about you "ask" him. I'll take care of this little halfling.” Thief 2 stands near the Halfling. Durakai: “Let go of it, or mi will be forced to take akshun.” Thief 1: “Oh? and what exactly are you going to do?” Thief 1 Draws a sword and swings it towards Durakai. Durakai: *attempts to dodge the blade, it hits his hand and cuts him. Thief1: *sword slides off Durakai’s hand and he stumbles forwards. Durakai: *tries to swing the handle of his axe at "Thief 1's" head. Thief 1: *becomes dazed from his fall and takes the blunt, heavy blow and is knocked unconscious. Thief 2: “M-m-m-mercy!” Thief 2: *turns and runs away. Durakai: *draws his bow Thief 2: *Continues to run away. Durakai: *attempts to hit the fleeing thief with an arrow. Thief 2: *Takes the arrow the back, gasps and falls down dead. Halfling: “Thank you orc, but did that sword not hurt your hand?” Durakai: “Ah yung wun, but ju shee a wound iz but a medal earned in battle. Da payn merely provez that mi am shtill alive and dat mi have won, for if mi felt no pain mi might az-well be dead and iv mi wuz dead mi wuud feel no payn. Underztand? Ju gruk?” Halfling: “No, not really but still, thank you.” Durakai: “Dabu, dis was but anuda shtep on my journey, Gug’ye Halfling.” Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? Durakai is polite and will act civil when trading. Merchant: “'ello there, what can I do you for today?” Durakai: “Throm’ka stranja, mi wish to shee jour merchandize?” Merchant: “Hello to you too, you must be a long way from home, we don't see many orcs around here.” Durakai: “Yub, mi have been on da road for a long tyme. Following in da footshteps of deshtiny.” Merchant: “Oh, how I do wish to see the world outside this town, but I am content. Anyway about that merchandise?” Durakai: “Ah yub how eazy it iz to get diztracted, Mi am looking for an O’lig, a bow, dis old one wuz broken by bandits. Mi wuz out fighting a few on da road here but it wuz nothing dat mi couldn’t handle.” Merchant: “Yes, but I suppose it was your bow that couldn’t handle it. These roads are dangerous, but I’m sure an orc like you can handle yourself.” Durakai: “Not even a orc can survive widout a wepon.” Merchant: “That is true, I have a fine bow right here, for only 200.” Durakai: “Mi guesh it shall do, here iz your money. Rulg human.” Durakai: *hands over 200 midas. Merchant: “No problem, keep safe out there, may it protect you on your travels.” Merchant: *gives Durakai the bow. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Durakai despises thieves, he never steals. He leaves the contents of the chest as they were, as even if it is abandoned someone has put it there, so it is therefore not his property and he will not take it. (Also he does not have a villain application ) Durakai: “What iz dis? Hmm, a chest mi should hav a look.” Durakai: *finds a few iron bars and a gold sword. Durakai: “Mi am not a thief, mi should leave dese here. mi does not need dem.” Durakai: *Walks out of the hut and continues travelling. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? Durakai is honorable and polite, but if he is pushed too far or his life is on the line he will break his code. Trader: “Aha! A customer, all the way out here. Well orc, what will it be? You look hungry.” Durakai: “Mi hav been lucky to come acrosh you, what food does ju have?” Trader: “You're just in time I have some freshly baked bread here.” Durakai: “Yub, good. How much will it be?” Trader: “Oh let's see, how about 300 midas?” Durakai: “Dat is far tu much, do not push me Gazat, mi am in bad mood. Do not try to take advantaje ov me.” Trader: “Well I don't think you have any other options, do you? Now, I will ask again, what will it be orc?” Durakai: *Equips his axe and points it at the trader. Durakai: “Mi am giving ju thish wun chansh stowt! What do ju value more, money or jour life? Now mi think 50 midas iz a little more fair.” Trader: “Ok, Ok! Don't hurt me, name your price!” Durakai: “Now, mi think 50 midas iz a fair price, don't ju?” Trader: “What!? Okay, fine but mark my words, you will pay for this orc.” Trader: *tosses a loaf of bread to Durakai. Durakai: *Catches bread and throws 50 midas on the ground in front of the trader. Durakai: “Rulg, your biznuss wuz useful, I'm glad mi wuz able to persuade ju to be reazonable.” You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: He will take on the bandits alone and will refuse to take any rewards, as the reward of battle is enough. He is also capable of showing mercy. Guard leader: "Hello there orc, you look like you are a capable fighter. How would you like to earn a reward, by helping us get rid of some bandits just outside town?" Durakai: “Hmm, help? No mi fight betta alone, mi shall take care of dem myshelf.” Guard leader: “Oh really now? Be my guest, we are heading out at dawn. If you head out now you may have some time, I doubt you will survive, but if you survive bring me back some proof of your work.” Durakai: “Fine den, we shall shee if fate iz on my shide.” Durakai: *Heads outside town and down the road. Bandit leader: “Well, well, well, what do we have here? Does this orc wish to challenge us?” Durakai: “No, mi is here to offer ju a decishun, mi ashk ju to leave or face the conzequencez, your choish.” Bandit leader: “Consequences? Hahaha, let's just see about that.” Bandit leader: *Draws a dagger and swings it at Durakai's midsection. Durakai: *unsheathes his axe and then attempts to block the bandit’s attack. Bandit leader: *Sword clashes with durakai’s axe and he stumbles back. Durakai: *Lifts his axe and swings it at the bandit. Bandit leader: *Attempts to dodge the axe, but fails and the axe hits him in the neck. Durakai: *Quickly draws his bow and attempts to fire an arrow at the first bandit. Bandit 1: *takes the arrow between the eyes and is killed. Durakai: *Attempts to fire an arrow at the second bandit. Bandit 2: *is hit in the shoulder with the arrow and falls to his knees. Durakai: *Attempts to fire an arrow in the direction of the third bandit. Bandit 3: *dodges the arrow and charges at Durakai Durakai: *Pulls his axe back over his head swings it forward and attempts to throw it at the third bandit. Bandit 3: *Trips on a rock and falls forward so that the axe hits him in the top of the head. Durakai: *Walks forwards and pulls his axe from "bandit 3's" head. Bandit 2: “Please, I am begging you show mercy!” Durakai: “Ah but ju shee, mi need to bring sumding back to da guards. What shall it be? A finger? An ear? Jour tongue?” Bandit 2: “Please no, just let me go!” Durakai: “Fine, mi shall show ju mersy. But ju returns to where ju came from and tell jour friendz not to return to dis town. Or dey will end up like dese three.” Durakai: *Gestures towards the other three dead bandits. Bandit 2: “Yes sir, I promise.” Durakai: “Den go!” Bandit 2: *Runs away, down the path. Durakai: *Proceeds to remove an ear from each of the bandits and heads back into town. Guard leader: “Wow you actually returned, just in time we were about to head out.” Durakai: *holds out three ears in his hand. Guard leader: “you... actually killed them? I am impressed, you truly deserve this reward.” Guard leader: *Holds out a bag of midas. Durakai: “No, da battle wuz enuff compenzation for me. Mi musht now go resht at da inn.” Guard leader: “You are a strange orc, but I like you. I hope you stick around.” Anything else you would like to say?: Sorry if I have made spelling or grammar mistakes, it is hard to write in this format and there is a lot of writing, but I have checked it over. I'm also sorry for using "Action:" as I am unsure of the command on this server, I have looked and cannot find it. Also for the third question and response, I wasn't sure how to create a full scenario. My application may not be perfect, but I put a lot of effort into it and hope that it is good enough. Last of all thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you let me in, I know that I have strayed slightly from the "traditional" orc character, but I wanted to create an orc that is unique and sometimes diversity is good. While I wait for a response I will continue to read up on the server's lore so that I can become more involved in the world. Hopefully this second attempt is better. Please take into consideration that this application has gone through a lot of editing and may contain grammatical errors, please overlook this if you can. I have however gone over it a few times, but there is heaps of writing so forgive me.
