Conquest Warclaim

Conquest is the act of military subjugation of an enemy by force of arms. In other words it is the de jure incorporation of some territory into another geo-political entity (either adjacent or non-contiguous). Usually, it is implied that the territory and population being annexed is the smaller, more peripheral, and weaker of the two merging entities, barring physical size.

Itnan, 7th of the Deep Cold, Year 54

Morgrim grimaces as he reads over the letter, announcing peace with Oren, his distrust for them somewhat lessened but a burning hatred still within him for the Teuton's actions at Kal'Anart and Arethor. Now they could finally begin on finding a way to pass through the poisonous fogs of Hanseti. He sets the letter down on the table before him, turning towards two of his most trusted kin, Rehnof and Grumdul.

"Lads, open t'e crate, it beh toime tae begin our work..."

He makes his way out from the keep and down a staircase, into the armoury of Kal'Anart, the two Dwarves accompanying close behind him. As they reach the forge, besides them lays a large crate, tightly and securely nailed shut. Morgrim grins slightly, gesturing for the two Dwarves to unnail it. As the Dwarves steadily lift it open, Morgrim's eyes widen at the sight of what lays before him, a full set of Teutonic armour, the only known piece of technology capable of allowing passage through the thick fog of Hanseti. With this, they had their only means of doing battle with the dishonourable, those who insulted his kin and struck them down with no honour or remorse. He disdained the Teutons for their actions and would do all it took to have the armour reforged.

Ahad, 34th of the Deep Cold, Year 54

Dom sits down at his desk inspecting the TAC mask. He then looks over to the armor and sees that the re-breather look very similar. Smiling to himself since he can work with just the TAC mask. Muttering to himself he says, "Tiome tu get tu wurk." Dom pops the clips on one of the filter tubes. Looking into the open tube and looks at the filters and the mechanisms inside. He begins by delicately turning the filters and pushing and pulling slightly till the filter pad pops out. Dom then repeats the process on the other filter pad. Dom quickly jots down a diagram of the filter pad and examines the actual material of filter and jots some notes next to the diagram. He then jots down a diagram of where the parts appear to be in the tube. Dom then slowly and methodical removes the mechanism in the tube. Setting the mechanism down he draws a careful and exact drawing of the mechanism.

Taking a leather cap Dom attaches a pair of goggles to the helm. He then forms a face mask out of leather. He cuts two holes and attaches two metal cylinders to the holes of the mask that are close replicates of the ones from the original mask. Then Dom uses a slime based adhesive to attach and seal a new set of mechanisms and filters into the cylinders. Clamping the caps to the cylinders, he then sows the mask to the helm and goggles. Dom the adds some extra leather to make an airtight ring that goes around the neck. Finally Dom add some more sealing adhesive to all the seams of the new mask. Sighing Dom sits back and relaxes while he waits for the adhesive to dry.

Kamaas, 5 of the Snow Maiden, Year 54

Dom approaches the edge of pink fog, a pig in a leather airtight body suit with a breathing mask being led by a rope. Stopping, Dom pulls a bundle of wheat from his pack and tosses it into fog. slowly the pig wanders after the wheat. After a few moments the pig begins to squeal loudly as if in pain. Dom the begins pulling hard on the rope. as the pig emerges from the fog Dom sees that it is dead. He removes the mask and notices the plagued and infected corpse. Returning to his workshop, Dom opens up the breathing cylinder and removes the mechanism. Inspecting the mechanism and comparing it to the original he notices that several components were in the wrong places and that is why the mask didn't work.

Ahad, 8 of the Snow Maiden, Year 54

Dom approaches the edge of pink fog again, a new pig in a new leather airtight body suit with a breathing mask being led by a rope. Stopping, Dom pulls a bundle of wheat from his pack at tosses it into fog. slowly the pig wanders after the wheat. Listening quietly, Dom hears the a sharp grinding noise and the cracking noise followed by the pigs squealing that ends abruptly. Pulling on the rope Dom pulls the dead body of the pig from the mist. Opening the cylinder Dom sees the ruined mechanism. Removing the mask Dom sets of to his workshop. Setting the mechanism on his desk. Inspecting the broken mess, Dom notices several cracked and broken gears. Comparing the broken gears to their original counter part he sees that some were too big and others were too small for the them to work and that caused the mechanism to break.

Ahad, 15 of the Snow Maiden, Year 54

Yet again, Dom approaches the pink mist another unfortunate pig in a suit being pull along. Throwing another bundle of wheat into the mist Dom prays to the Gods that the breather works this time. The pig eagerly follows the wheat. After several moments without any squealing, Dom pulls the pig, still alive, out of the fog. Removing the suit, Dom inspects the pig and sees no signs of afflictions of the mist. Dom quickly sets the pig free and hurries back to his workshop with the working breather.

Tolta, 10th of Snows Maiden, Year 54

Skath stands as he reads over the notes of the dissected armor. Reviewing every botch of ink and studies the prototype helm until it is ingrained in his memory. After surveying all the knowledge of the helm as he could, he prepares himself and his workbench with the necessary tools and instruments. He starts heating the furnaces and begins to focus himself toward the many tireless hours to come forth.

He first places iron into the furnaces until he could see a bright red hue glowing from the metal. Upon extracting the iron with large tongs he carries it to the large Anart anvil. He then hammers on the metal profusely until the iron begins to take the shape of a odd looking helm. This helm had was sightly larger than other helms, covered the entire head with no openings; save the eyes and holes at the cheeks, and had a bulge in the region of the mouth would be. When the hot iron is in the final shape, Skath dips it into a large barrel of water. Steam hovers above the barrel as the helm is withdrawn. He takes the helm over to his workbench and begins to fit the eye sockets with glass and adheres them to the metal. Then Skath takes a leather cap and lines it inside of the helm, while also connecting small intricate cylinders, that will house the filters, into the bulged area of the helm. With the cylinders in place, as well as the leather cap, he adds adhesive to them and makes a seal between them. He then adds a large round sheet of metal and adheres it to the inside of the base of the leather. Skath looks over the the helm and adds more metal to the more vulnerable parts of the helm. When the helm is completed to satisfaction, he sets it on his workbench and starts to work on the rest of the armor.

Skath once again begins to feed his furnaces and heating ingots of iron. One by one he takes the iron to the anvil and strikes the iron repeatedly, until he has a full set of iron armor that is slightly larger than normal. He starts the process of adhering leather to the inside of the metal. Then he adheres more round metal strips to the inside of each end of leather. At this time Skath has all the makings of the new armor only dismantled. He methodically places each part of the suit together; boot to shin guard, shin guard to thigh guard, and so on. When everything is in place Skath begins to tie leather straps where the metal of each end of each piece of armor connect, making an air tight seal.

Looking over the final product he feels that this suit will be efficient for repelling the toxic air of Hanseti. Skath tests the suit by lighting a small fire and capturing the smoke in one of the boots and reattaches it to the rest of the armor, while also covering the breathing holes. Skath was overjoyed as he saw no smoke emerge from the armor. With the success of the experiment he releases the smoke and cleans the new suit. And the first suit of Passage armor is born.

Joma, 13th of the Second Seed, Year 55

It had taken almost a year attempting to have the armour reforged and it would take even longer before Morgrim and his Dwarven kin would finally have the chance to utilise it in battle. He glances down at the armour his uncle had crafted as it begins to cool, the steel still glowing red from the heat of the forge. It had been done, the first redesigned set of Teutonic Armour had been completed. A lighter, single plated steel, with more mobility than the original, it possessed the same technology found in the Teuton armour that allowed the Sariants safe passage through the poisonous clouds. It would be the only means for the Dwarves to seek their vengeance and battle the Teutonic Order, the spawn of true and pure evil in the eyes of Dwarven kind. Those who labeled them mutants, unoworthy of stepping foot upon the lands of Asulon, the Dwarves despised every word uttered by this new Teutonic Order and their fanatical leader, Hochmeister Mirtok.

Itnan, 23rd of The Second Seed, Year 55

Yorri begins executing tests on the bokkanym, modifying his original Kathiik, the rune of defense. Knowing that the pale-skinned dwarves would not be interested in flesh runes, he heads into his home where he directs his attention to the old carvings on the wall. The carvings indicate how to execute the Kathiik on armor and not the flesh, something that is not practiced frequently in Doomforged culture as they see carving into the flesh as more pure. His mind now refreshed with past teachings, Yorri heads back to the forge where he crafts the rune into the armor given to him by Morgrim and Kjell.

"Vokron A’... Doshtiik vakna... Erronok thiik... Arroka vok... Kroniz erkan vodozk."

"Brother of blood... Runes bestow our hearts... Under the runic sun... In pride and skill... Atake your brothers with the might of your shield."

With a finished armor set on the anvil, he heads into the caves and orders the largest bokkanym he finds to come with him. Equipping the bokkanym with the set of armor as best it could fit, he sends the Bokkanym out of Asgol into the pink-smoke infested outside lands. The Bokkanym returns after a small period of exposure as ordered, appearing still sane (for a bokkanym) and alive (although the bokkanym shows that the unsnug armor gave him quite a rash). Yorri sees it as a success but does not show it. Removing the bokkanym from the armor, he lets a quick smirk come across his face in anticipation of all the Teuton flesh and blood they are to receive from this agreement. The armor was truly complete.

((The full lore and RP for the armour can be found

here.))

The Black Company, former Sariants of the old Teutonic Order, had long been assisting the Dwarves, whether for the coin they were paid or out of revenge for Mirtok's betrayal to the Holy Oren Empire. Information had become vital in the quest for the armour and not only had the Black Company done much to secure the armour into the hands of the Dwarves but also, had they requested one final thing. The chance to sink their blades into those who dishonoured the name of the Black Cross, those who betrayed the old Gods of Hanseti and everything their Order once stood for. If vengeance is truly what the Black Company sought, vengeance they would get. Skath and the finest Dwarven smiths of the Empire had crafted a number of special sets of the armour, heightened and with less bulk so as to fit the size of a human. It was with these that they would find that vengeance.

Ahad, 13th of The Amber Cold, Year 55

The three Dwarven Lords, Bazian Grandaxe, Hiebe Irongut and Gulroid Goldhand lean over a map, peering over at the ship's route. It would take almost three weeks to reach the shores of Hanseti, an arduous task for Dwarves who had barely spent a day of their lives out at sea. Bazian nods to the other Lords, each of them having experienced the same during the sail to Asulon. "Aye, our lads may nut beh used tae t'e seas but weh can do t'is, weh 'ave done it before n' weh can do it again!." Bazian crashes his plated gauntlet down upon the table as he speaks, splintering the wood slightly. The Dwarven fleet was ready for war, fitted with the finest of technological advancements in the empire. The cannons, built by the most skilled engineers of Kal'Alras and ice breakers forged in the fires of Kal'Anart. On the star-board and port-sides of the Ironbreaker, rested the oars, included to make the voyage to Hanseti a shorter journey. They would take the Teutons by surprise, eventually capturing Fickloch and using it as a point in which to launch a full invasion of Hanseti. Only time would tell if their efforts of planning would pay off. Before reaching mainland Hanseti, they would however, first need to capture the land south east of the island. At this location, the winds of the southern sea had blown the cloud into the north, and thus, the Dwarves would not require the armour in their first assault.

Hiebe takes a look outside the Captain's cabin of the Dwarven Flagship, Dungrimm's Wrath, looking over the bay and the long lines of Dwarves, each holding the masks, crafted by the Dwarven Engineer, Dominic Irongut. In his many years fighting alongside the Dwarves in battle and ruling over them back home, he had never before seen anything like it. With little hesitation he steps outside and makes his way up the staircase onto the quarterdeck. He peers over at he crowd beneath him, calling out for silence, his gruff voice, recognised by all Dwarves, immediately reminding them who their elder was.

"Dwarves, t'is is t'e story ye sons n' daughters will remember fer 'undreds uv year tae come! T'ey call us mutants, 'eritics, blasphemous bein's in t'e eyes uv t'eir God! Weh will show t'ese bastasrds wut Dwarves are made uv! T'e fires n' steel uv Urguan will rain down upon 'em n' t'en t'ey will see t'at t'at nay Dwarf will ever bow tae an 'uman God! It wus nut but a few years ago t'at t'e 'ochmeister came tae t'e gates uv Anart, sayin' 'e would 'ave us all enslaved! Well now 'e cowars in 'is mountains, be'ind 'is fog t'inkin' not'in' can get tae 'im. Little does 'e know 'ow wrong 'e is. W'en 'anseti falls, Mirtok's 'ead will rest on a pike n' t'en weh will show t'e world t'at nut un bein' on Urguan's blessin' 'olds aneh divoine roight over Dwarves!"

A loud cheer eruprs across the crowd of Dwarves, many raising their weapons into the air, others shouting at the top of their lungs "Down wit' t'e Teutons, glory upon t'e sons uv Urguan!" A heavy wind is felt from the East as the ships prepare to set sail, bound for the southern shores of Hanseti.

((Only a number of Dwarven Nobles, the Black Company and the Rogues know this attack is taking place so please do not meta any of this information. The Teutonic Order will have time to sight the ships coming before the attack so that they can RPly send whoever is in Hanseti to the region.))

((I'd like to say, most of our edits and additions are being made to the armour thread so I ask that the war claim team look over what we're adding. As Gaius said, this war claim doesn't actually require us to have the armour ready so I believe that by the time we make the next war claim, providing we win this one, the tests and RP on our armour should all be written up. Bare in mind, it is now reinforced with Runic magic, something the Teuton armour doesn't have as far as I'm aware.

I've also had to push the war claim back to the next weekend unless we can somehow make it this Sunday, although that would be four days, rather than five. Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions.))

Gaius Uthor and I will be reviewing this to show the new member (when chosen) how things work. We are going to take a whole new attitude and act like the last one did t happen.

I look forward to reading all of this. Let us know when you want our final verdict and we shall post.

[ Fridays or Saturdays. Otherwise, you are isolating the Australian population - I know we are few, but we generally love to attend wars. ]

I am going to read over the Pink Cloud document, but for this War-Claim, you needn't even worry about having even a cloth over your mouth; there is not detrimental air to walk through during this War Claim. Insofar as I see, come up with a definite date and I will stamp my approval.

((Next Friday is definite from our side, I've posted some of the suit lore up here just to deal with any of the confusions people were having about what we were attempting. However, as stated, we won't even need the suit for this particular battle.))

I have something to present to the Dwarves, the war-claim still approved no worries.

1. The Wolf's Edge is going to be your way of literally getting into the Pink Cloud as an object way of testing your suits. RP wisely.

2. It has been revealed that due to ownership of Crusader Island [The old Crusader States under chas5511], there is RP reasoning for the Teutons to be aware of vessel presence. That being said, they will not know it is Dwarven assuming you all are smart enough to fly under indistinguishable flags :P

3. I do require a PM telling me how many are attending this campaign, RPly I hope you all are wise with your resources in this campaign. DO NOT REVEAL your estimated quota of 'fighters' on the forum!
