A Strange Book - Investigation

As Rillfane walks towards the centre of the Cloud Temple he comes across a small, ragged book with some engravings on the front, titled 'Zxm Gxhyr xp zxm Zyl'Mxktm'. RIllfane pulls his hood back and widens his eyes, thinking that it was simply his eyes playing tricks on him, but as he takes a further glance he sees that his eyes did not fool him, the writing was not like the usual characters he read. He leans down to pick up the strange book, now, very intrigued. As he reaches the centre of the temple he decides to sit down on a solitary bench to study the pages of the book. He flicks through the book to find that most of it is empty, except for a page and a bit. It read:

Hxq dlrxt gxm zxm vxblm xp Krlg. X cxvxn zxglk kxlxy+ kyj+ fld Mxndxbh. Hxq Fxllt pxtyr vxlxd fld tld kxl gxp nxm. Txqyr tlt xy+ kxl gxp+ mxl hxk hxq zxglk. Txwxt fxllt rlflm hxq axg sxw yxml+ mrlxt= hxq, zxm Zyl'Mxktml. Txqyr hxq pxrym+ zxm Zyl'Mxktlm sxw pxtyr+ fld Mxgy. Yil'Sxtlr pxtyr 'Gxb!' sxw hxq yxmln+ hxq Pxnt jxw Axgys.

For the first few reads Rillfane felt clueless as if he was staring at a blank page. But as he started looking further into the characters he noticed one thing. The 'word' Axgys caused him to remember the word Aegis. Rillfane re-read it multiple times, realising that without help this would be nearly impossible for him. Rillfane gets up from his solitary seat and walks up the path to the centre of Cloud Temple once more to find it completely empty. Rillfane mutters to himself "The one time I wished there were people, there is none! But when I want peace and quiet it is bustling with loud orcs and children prancing everywhere". RIllfane sighs and stands by the noticeboard, pondering for a while, before the Sanctuary catches his eye. "Well, there is no one here, might as well give the Library a shot!" Rillfane mutters as he walks towards the Sanctuary.

Rillfane spent almost 2 hours in the Library, looking through all the books until he comes across a book in the Legends and Epics section. It was a book titled "Pnty jw Aegxs". This caught RIllfane's eye immediately as it looked just like the book he had picked up and it had the same, strange encryptions. RIllfane opens the book and blows the dust from the pages as he reads:

Had we not foretold how man would war,

For clearings and meadows were few and far.

It was pleaded with amnesty to the Wizard wizened,

He greeted us at portal of lands also risened

For we could not bear the burden of our dead

As man fought with greed for their own homestead.

The Wizard spaketh with us that we are of mercy,

With open palm outstretched to the new land, he said 'search these'

For what we would find suitable of land,

We found continents laid out and grand.

The Five Families separated and pledged no war,

And so we spilled no blood nor gore

And thus we began our journey,

One of Pnty jw Aegxs.

Rillfane let out a sigh after reading it multiple times, realising that although they might be related, he was still unable to break this code. As Rillfane walks out of the Sanctuary whilst letting out a sigh, he sees crowds of people in the Temple. "Maybe someone will know something...."

Kyral sitss amongst the crowds, relaxing from a hard day of work. She looks around, grumbling.

"Alras is almost done.... in a sense" she grins to herself as she continues to look around. Before spotting a newcomer to the temple.

Slowly walks towards the centre spotting Kyral sitting within the crowd, watching him. As he nears her he examines her for a while before deciding to talk to her. Before Rillfane approaches her he thinks to himself "Worth a try!".

"Hello...miss, little loud in the temple today is it not?" Rillfane says as he holds the book to his chest, almost as if he was trying to make it noticed.

Kyral's ears twitch through her crown as he comes by, talking to her. She definitely sees the book, and her love for books would be the only reason she continues this conversation. She smiles and begins to speak.

"Quite loud indeed, less loud then Alras though." She says, pointing to the book casually."Protecting that book dearly I see, might I ask what is inside it?"

Rillfane nods and says as he holds onto the book more tightly "This book? I found it not long ago on the way to the Temple. Odd engravings in this thing" Ceases talking as he opens the book to show the two pages with the characters. Rillfane gestures for her to hold the book as he tilts his head, still holding it with a hand. "If you want to take a look you may, but be careful, I feel as if this may be something....important....something to be treasured"

Kyral's nods, extending a hand for the book slowly as she smiles.

"I will be extremely careful, you have my promise; are you unsure about it's importance? Is the book ruined inside?" She says curiously, peering closly to the books strange characters "Is that a form of code I'm looking at? I... I might be able to crack this, if you wish for me to do so." Kyral looks back up, awaiting a response from Rillfane.

Rillfane looks at the book and then replies cautiously "I am sure that this book is hiding something important. Why else would something be written in such a code? I was reading this down near the pond earlier on and noticed this word" points at Axgys "It very much reminds me of Aegis...anyway, I have been trying to crack the code alone, but help would be more than appreciated!" Rillfane smiles as he turns back to the book.

Kyral stands, motioning to the Main building.

"Let us go to the library, I'll help you out."

Kyral moves through the crowd, hoping to see Rillfane behind her as she makes her way to the main Temple, down the stairs and into the library.

Rillfane follows her, moving swiftly between the crowds, never 5 steps behind her, constantly eyeing the book in her arms. As Rillfane walked down the steps to the Library he says "I have already come down to the library to find myself unsuccessful, possibly a fresh set of eyes may do it better than I, although I was able to find one book that was similar" Rillfane gestures for Kyral to follow as he walks to the Legends and Epics section, pulling out and rubbing as he had done earlier, before handing her the book titled "Pnty jw Aegxs" "This was the only book I found, the ending is very similar in both books" Rillfane says.

Kyral takes the book, giving him a small satchel of mina as she says.

"There should be a monk store inside the library that sells books, buy us Twenty, we will need them."

Kyral takes a seat in one of the more secluded areas of the temple, reading over the book.

"Hxq dlrxt gxm zxm vxblm xp Krlg. X cxvxn zxglk kxlxy+ kyj+ fld Mxndxbh. Hxq Fxllt pxtyr vxlxd fld tld kxl gxp nxm. Txqyr tlt xy+ kxl gxp+ mxl hxk hxq zxglk. "This is going to be a long night..."

Rillfane extends both his arms to hold the satchel of Minas as he directs himself towards the Monk Shop before stopping in front of the Librarian. "Hello sir" He places the satchel on the desk infront of him "I would like to buy as many books as I can with this money".

The Librarian nods and starts counting the Minas "...418, 419, 420....Well that would give you...." The Librarian stops a second as he calculates the amount in his head "...That would give you 21 books! Yes 21 books!" The Librarian starts unloading books from the bookshelves behind him into a larger grey satchel as well as returning the empty satchel. "I hope you treat these books well! Put them to good use!"

Rillfane nods and turns, walking towards the secluded corner in which Kyral had located herself. "So where do we start" says Rillfane in a low voice as he piles the books up on the floor...

"Come back here in a few elven hours, I need to go over a few things, and I work best in quiet. I will remain here, reading this book over."

Kyral begins to scan through the book, taking another book as she

Rillfane quickly scribbles a copy of the cryptic down on a parchment, nods and says "Take good care of it for I believe more and more that this is trying to tell us something. I want to find it's origin...I will be back, Farewell for now"

Rillfane walks up the stairs of the library and out of the Sanctuary seeing that the crowd has diminished, but that there were still a few people in the crowds...

As Rillfane starts walking to the docks he is stopped by an elderly man in grey.

"Hello there! My name is Olorin!" says Olorin as he approaches him with his walking stick.

"...Hello. I am Rillfane, what brings you to the docks on such a dark night?" says Rillfane as he continues walking towards the docks.

"Me well...I am a loremaster! Learn whatever I can find! I am currently looking for some Elven History...know where I could find some?" Says Olorin cheerfully.

"Not really, have you looked in the Cloud Sanctuary Library or Normandor, possibly?" replies RIllfane.

"Aye, I have tried both of those, I have also tried the Silver City, but they have not let me in" Olorin says as he glances at Rillfane's Elven ears.

"Well that is probably because you are not an Elf..." continues Rillfane as he starts climbing up the ladder for the boat to Normandor. He sees Olorin was struggling to get up and extends a hand to help him up.

After getting to Normandor they see the gates to Malinor are shut and decide to continue walking for a while before reaching the gates to the Silver City.

"Hello there" Rillfane says as he peers through the gates "I need the help of you great High Elves"

As Rillfane peers through the gates a High Elf guard comes up and says "What do you need?"

Rillfane replies as he hands the parchment through the gate "I need help translating this message, I have a feeling....a strong feeling it is important.."

The guard rams the parchment through the gates answering "We are not translators....do not ask us for this...try the Mori, they stole most of the books of Haelun'or before we could get our hands on them."

Rillfane is surprised by the aggressive actions and backs off the gate before asking "Where can I find these...Mori?"

The guard replies "Under the water flow, deep underground where the sun will never see, there the moris you will seek" before walking off.

After several hours of wandering and searching, Rillfane looks to the sky to see the sunrise, meaning a new day, and new answers, as he returns to the Cloud Temple...
