Definitions

In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is: The act of role-playing, is what you make it to be. I don't think there is a solid definition for it because everyone has their own way of explaining it. For me, the term role-playing is an amazing way to leave your life for awhile and become a different person with a life that you can make up along the way. As the saying goes, "Life is short." So why not have multiple lives with different fun and interesting experiences?

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: The act of meta-gaming is taking out of character information and using it in-character.

In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is: Power-emoting is the act of being unfair in combat such as: Jerry takes the knife and kills him.

In-Character Details

Character Name: Grayson Weltworth

Character Race: Elf

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Grayson was born in the great nation of Malinore little over 60 years ago during nightfall. He was born of Elf decent, with hazel green eyes, and short brown hair. Two months before his birth, the corruption spread throughout Aegis and brought back the undead. Every nation was forced to get on ships and sailed onward to the new continent Asulan. With his family finally settled in the Great Elven Nation of Malinore, which housed the greatest Elven minds in all of the world. His life was picture perfect and he had no worries throughout his childhood.

A couple of years have passed and the Elven nation was finally complete. One day as he was walking throughout the nearby forest to collect some wood to build his new shack he came across a little cloth like material he had never seen before. It was glowing green and was irresistible to his eye. He quickly ran and grabbed the very tip of it and started examining it immediately. Without hesitation he put it into his pocket to observe later on, because the sun was going to start setting soon. After collecting a few logs, he headed home for some supper his mom had prepared for him and his father. It was his favorite meal; pork chops with rice and cabbage. Shortly after dinner, Grayson excused himself and went upstairs to his room where he shut his door. He pulled out the shiny green cloth from his pocket and began examining it thoroughly. Grayson was a very smart and cunning child, he loved building and constructing objects of all shapes and sizes, no matter the material. So he began to conduct some tests on this "special cloth", which began with trying to rip a small piece off of it. Grayson's eyes opened wide as he noticed that the cloth could not be torn. He repeatedly tried tugging it and biting it with all his might, but nothing was happening. He decided to try another method of cutting it, using his fathers saw mill. His curiosity made him forget that his father told him to never use or go near the saw mill without his permission. He slowly but cunningly went into his father's workshop and placed the cloth right under the saw. With all his might he stepped on the lever up and down to get the saw spinning. Sparks flew through the air like it was a festive day in the nation of Malinore. Grayson had finally stopped operating the machine and went to check on the cloth. As he went to take a look he noticed the green color had finally vanished but the cloth still had no scratch on it. He decided to call it a night, so he grabbed the cloth and brought it up stairs with him. He slowly fell asleep with it in his hands and woke up to a surprise.

He slowly opened his eyes and noticed the cloth was floating right above him! It spoke to him and said "Your curiosity has really impressed me young elf." "Wh-what are you, and what do you want" said young Grayson as he was trembling in fear. "Wear me in your right chest pocket, and I will guide you throughout your whole life little one". He said while also continuing with "Do not be afraid, I am but a spirit of the forest who sees the good intentions in your heart, and the fierce bravery in your fist." So Grayson did that, and the cloth showed him the way of the master craftsman throughout his years as a young Elf. He learned how to survive in the forest, and how to navigate under and above the trees no matter the circumstance. Many years have passed and Grayson had finally reached adulthood, and had the knowledge of a master craftsman, with the cunning and swiftness of a leopard. Now all that remains is the rest of his life, and the adventures that are ahead of him.

What are your characters ambitions?: To be a well known craftsman and inventor.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

It is Sunday, the day I visit Arethor to go and see if their are any job openings for craftsmen like me. I finally reach the gate and the guard greets me and shows me the way in to the Human City. As I enter the city I notice a short bold chested dwarf calling out his wares to nearby inhabitants and visitors of the city. I think to myself "A dwarf trading at a human city?", "Heh, I guess the good man is trying to make a living judging his clothes." I slowly approach him and before I could say a word the dwarf says "Oi! Elven man! would ye be interested in buying this shiny dagger?", "Tis only 12 minas!" I reached in and took out about 15 minas from my pouch and handed it over to the dwarf and said "Keep the change, my good friend you earned it!". He quickly grabbed the minas and started laughing then said "Thank you my good Elven boy!, I can buy more ale with these minas!". After the transaction I asked the Dwarf if he knew of any craftsman jobs that needed to be done. He had told me that there is a board that is loaded with those kinds of jobs because of the new properties being open to the public. We had a quick drink of good ol' ale and I was on my way.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

"Orc!, stop right there!" I yelled as I was running to the situation. "He step on Grumbak flower, now I want to crush him!", the Orc furiously yelled as he was swinging his fists around. "If ye don't leave me alone you tall hard headed nit head, you are gon' regret it!" said the old stubborn dwarf. Without hesitation the orc thrusts his fist toward the dwarf in a downward motion. I quickly run toward the Dwarf and pull him out of the way before the orc reaches him. The orc put so much force in his swing that he couldn't stop, which lead to him hitting his foot and breaking it. In a matter of seconds the orc is on the ground yelling at the top of his lungs. I quickly tell the dwarf to quietly walk away and never return to this road this late at night ever again. He thanks be and gives me 5 minas and we both part ways hoping to cross paths again, but in a better situation.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenseless man. What does your character do?

"I am finally going back home, but I need to ask someone about the upcoming festival next week", I think to myself as I am walking and staring at the trees. As soon as I look down towards me I spot an old man with a walking stick. "Hey, sir do you know about the up-" as soon as I was about to finish my sentence his walking stick snaps in half and he plummets onto the ground releasing a bag of minas that splits open letting multiple coins out. I quickly help the old man up and ask him if he's okay, and he replies with "Yes, young man I am fine now thanks to you." and "I don't think I would of been able to get up without you." I grab his minas and put them into my empty bag, giving it to him in the process. "Hmmm, let me see if I can make you a better walking stick then that old one that you had." I said as I was starting to gather a long wooden stick. In a matter of minutes I carved him a perfect walking stick. "Thank you young man, I will be going now." he said as he began to walk away. He then yelled "I am really in a hurry, I will repay you some day!." Just as I was about to enter my village a group of elderly people come up to me and ask me if I have seen an old man with a walking stick walk by. I replied with "Yes, I just helped him since he had fallen." They all stared at my with anger and showed a sketch of the old man that said wanted, with the reward of 300 minas for stealing money from the elderly villages. I replied with "Oh, I don't think I helped that one, it was another person", I said as I was scratching my head and laughing. They all proceeded onward like an angry mob. I sighed as I finally reached my village, and nodded my head in disappointment.
