Letters on Impurity

In front of the mage’s tower in Holm sits a birch box. The box is closed with small a metal clasp and in the bottom right corner sits a painted grey silver shape, similar to that of a helix.

One who opens the box will find a letter written on what at first glance appears to be clear, crisp and new parchment. The outside of the letter is sealed with wax and once again the name Jon Evaglno is elegantly scrawled across the top. The letter is sealed with what appears to be a silver wax teardrop, it reads:

Jon Evaglno,

It has come to this mali’aheral’s attention that you have had a love child which, for all intents and purposes may only be described with one word.

Impure.

This child of yours I am told is precisely one quarter halfling. It is this quarter which so deeply offends me and damages the reputation of the mali’aheral of Haelun’or.

Your improper behavior elicits and encourages the blatantly incorrect idea of equality amongst races and it is a great disappointment that you are willing to corrupt the reputation of the blessed race of Asulon. Not only does this permit those who see the child to believe that such children are tolerable but also promotes the idea that they too may have a child with the mali’aheral.

Your blatant violation of the maehr’sae hiylun’ehya has not gone unnoticed and like other things will spread rapidly. It should be known that such has irrevocably damaged your link to the mali’aheral and perhaps those others who dare to share your tarnished family name.

~ An irritated mali’aheral

The note is not signed with any other name. It simply and quite deliberately ends.

Jon finds the box, and removes the note, and reads until coming to the word "impure" before tossing it into a hole in the ice with a simple "pah."

Salamandra hobbles towards the Mages Tower with his new apprentice on this wintery-cold day. As they shuffle their way through the tundra, Salamandra turns to see Jon standing in front of the door. Aelu and Sala walk up to him, as Salamandra pokes Jon's back, asking:

"What's that little box you have there?"

Jon turns around to face Salamandra. With an exasperated sigh, he says "Oh, nothing, Salamandra. The High Elves are upset with me again. Something to do with my child and impurity."

((...By the way, why was my post +1'd?))

((...By the way, why was my post +1'd?))

Because it was the first thread I looked at after waking up and it left me with a smile. []
