Gladius begins to breathe heavily and wobble as he steps, a crimson trail of blood closely following him. The taiga forest is full of snow and Gladius begins to tremble by loss of blood and by loss of body heat. Groaning and cracking of bones are heard in the distance, Gladius knows that they are following him. He steps and tries his utmost to keep moving, but it seems impossible. There is a cave not far from where he walks, so he steps inside.

As Gladius steps into the dark cave, water is heard trickling from the icicles inside. With a grunt and a thud, Gladius falls to the ground, leaning his back against the wall of the cave. He looks out into the forest as the snow falls delicately, it only reminds him of how cold he is. Gladius hears the horrible lightning and terrible groaning of zombies in the distance. He looks at his shoulder, blood spewing from his wound like a flowing river. "Oh God... I remember the day I found a cave just like this as a small lad." Gladius begins to think. "It was the day this all began for me..." He continues thinking.

Gladius looks into the dark cave, a strange sound begins to emanate from it. The sound is like sand falling between your fingers and pebbles falling in its midst. Gladius continues looking, his face is as pale as the snow outside. From the darkness Gladius sees the face of a horrible beast, the creature that has haunted him all his life. It stares at him, the world around it twists and warps. His eyes stare with a black hue, its jaw hangs open with jagged teeth. A feeling of dread rushes down Gladius' body once again, but he speaks, "Beast, you've failed..." Gladius coughs as blood trickles down his chin. "With me your legacy dies and there will be none for you to prey upon." Gladius closes his eyes for a moment. "Ever again."

The beast sways in the darkness like he is subject to an unearthly wind inside the shadows. The beast growls and screams as Gladius sees shadows fly around it. Reality warps and stirs as the images fly away and Gladius is left alone, "It is not real." he thinks. "It was so long ago I found the taint in a cave just like this..." Gladius continues thinking. "Oh Ulric, you were such a good brother. I am sorry I ran away that day. If only I knew the pain that would beset me." Gladius thinks.

Gladius looks down at the rusty iron dagger in his right hand, of which he has been clutching strongly this whole time. "Oh Fira, my sweet. I miss you so..." Gladius thinks as his chest compresses and he takes deep breathes. The blood of Gladius' arrow wound continues to spew like a fountain of blood. "Remember the day I asked you to marry me?" Gladius thinks as a smile appears behind his wheezing and coughing of blood. "How long have you waited for me? Even before you've died? Did you look out the door each night and wonder where I was?" A tear flows down Gladius' face once again.

Gladius thinks of his son and grandson. "My child, my grandson, my blood, could you ever forgive me?" Gladius clutches the iron dagger even stronger. Tears flow down Gladius' face, mirroring the blood flowing from his wound. "If only I met you.. If only I met you! I would have had a chance to live!" Gladius begins to speak out loud weakly. "I wish I was there for my family, but I was too busy thinking about myself... Too busy thinking about being the hero." Gladius begins to shake a little more. "And it worked for a while, I wish I could have been your hero..." Gladius begins to sob and cry a bit louder, as much as his weak body will allow.

"God, you saved me that day for reasons unknown... This I know. I ask that one day you set these people free of hatred and intolerance. That you set them free from darkness and pain, that one day what I did will not be in vain." Gladius begins to say outloud as he speaks through sobs. "Make the darkness I've created die with me and the darkness they have die out as I cry..." Gladius says as he hunches over even more, putting his bloodied arms over his lap. "Make it right, Even if it's not in my time..." he says in a slow and more calmed tone.

Gladius' vision begins to morph and change, Gladius begins to hear screams coming from the cave walls. The beast manifests in front of Gladius, a huge bulking mass chanting in front of him. There are thousands of voices echoing from the forests, the evil voice of Ulric. "Stop this! Allow lamentations! You will do this now!" The beast steps down and stares Gladius straight in the face and for the second time in his life, Gladius looks back without fear. The beast shows incredible anger upon his face as he unleashes an awful and horrifically terrible scream into Gladius' face. "You coward! You must go out and kill! Destroy them and their families! For the dark master!" Ulric screams out from the forest, proceeding with maniacal laughter, the kind only heard from mad men.

Gladius smiles under his tears, ignoring the loud screams of those that haunted him his entire life. "The last time you did this to me was the time I was rid of you." Gladius says, his voice carrying more confidence than before. "But there will be no going back for me this time... It's over and for once I can save a few lives." Gladius looks down at the rusty dagger in his hand, the blade twisting slightly in his hand. The beast screams as loud as he can into Gladius' face, Gladius for the first time seeing fear in his enemy's eyes. The forest that was once snowing moments past is full of fire, the charred bodies of trees crackle outside the cave and Ulric screams hurriedly and with hatred.

Gladius closes his eyes and whispers, "Fate." Then with a swift motion, the iron blade flies upward and with great force it pierces the heart of Gladius. Gladius screams in pain as the blade pushes deep into his chest, the previous wound now seems utterly pointless. A great and flashing light flies in front of Gladius' eyes. All the visions, sounds and illusions that Gladius previously saw and heard now completely disappear. There is only a bright light. Gladius' body becomes almost completely limp, but his arm rises in the light's direction. Fira is there waiting for him.

Monk Zachai feels a disturbance in the soulstones... Someone close to him was lost.

A single tear flows down his cheek.

((He probably wouldn't know this, but man, I had to say something.))

((Haha, thanks for saying something anyway. ;P It's a little sad for me too. I loved that character, it's a bit sad to see him go. He had such good roleplay, but that's okay. He's with Fira now. Haha))

((So sad to see Gladius die, but that was one of the best posts to kill off a character I have ever seen!))

((Yeah, thanks. Haha I'll miss Gladius, even though he's a fictional character, he was originally made with a little bit of me inside him.))

Thanks, I'm glad you read it. If you haven't read the first two parts, I suggest seeing them. :P Maybe Gladius and Ornaro are good pals again in whatever realm they went to after death. Haha
