Zerragon Stormborn 4 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Hello LOTC staff. Me and my friend Tarannon used to play LOTC 1.0, we donated 100$ each and got enough land to build Snowy Fields, and later Caer Ayrenn after SF got destroyed by undead. Ref: Snowy Fields Caer Ayrenn Wiki entry seems to have has been removed, but we have a complete video walkthrough on youtube: When 2.0 released, we took a break, but after reading up about 3.0, we are interested again. We are primarly interested in building our own city, and let players move in afterwards if they want. All building and player interaction we want to roleplay, as last time. Will this be possible in 3.0 ?, and would we need to donate again ?, if so how much ?, we would like a rather large playground :)
SparehoeCakes 547 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Not sure if the GM team will be allowing towns to be made in 3.0, or how, but the land claim VIP perk no longer exists. You now get a VIP channel on LotC's TS.
Skippy 2466 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Not sure if the GM team will be allowing towns to be made in 3.0, or how, but the land claim VIP perk no longer exists. You now get a VIP channel on LotC's TS. Which is pretty useless because you can just make a temporary channel. Players don't need channels when they're offline. Pikel Boldshoulder 175 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Oh I remember you two it's great to see you're both thinking about coming back. Snowy Fields made some awesome memories.
Blundermore 2741 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Towns and cities that are not capitals will have to be made RP'ly in 3.0, this involves having to be granted permission to build from the ruling cast of the area. For example, you want to build a road side inn in Oren's land, and so Rp'ly you would go to the officals in the capital of Oren and requistion this from whoever handles that and get it approved by the rulling faction leader of that place. There isn't a lot of wilds in the new lands and no one is getting anything prebuilt past Capital cities and needed RP buildings (Like large Forts or bridges over places) etc. The rest like smaller settlements away from these places will have to be done after we move to the new map. The rest of the prebuilt structures are to do with events and for RP that I am not at liberty to digress into.
Zerragon Stormborn 4 Author Share Posted January 7, 2013 Oh I remember you two it's great to see you're both thinking about coming back. Snowy Fields made some awesome memories. Thank you Pikel, glad you enjoyed SF, so did we :) Towns and cities that are not capitals will have to be made RP'ly in 3.0, this involves having to be granted permission to build from the ruling cast of the area. A fresh settlement in the wilds sounds more like us, ideally we would like to build more or less undisturbed, then request the nearest officials for a road connection once we feel it is perfect and worthy of exploring. So once the new map is ready, we should have a good backstory and lore for our settlement in place and try to get it accepted.
Danny 2232 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Blundermore and Sparrow are correct:- Landclaims have been removed and will not be returning, therefore any user can actually create a settlement once they gain permission from the nation who holds the land. I'm going to be making a thread providing the essential information for 3.0 land claiming and regioning in the near future (as a staff vote and public vote have decided). You can read about it in the 'Your View' forum, which contains the basic structure of the system although I shall be changing it slightly, to ensure that GMs are able to moderate the number of authorised settlements in the world to avoid over-building. Your city will have to be built in roleplay, after the necessary 'gaining authorisation' roleplay has occured. Whether you will be granted permission from a Nation Leader or not is entirely up to the Nation Leader. Expect a thread detailing the exact system in the next few days however, as I am still to finalise some details.
Cyndikate 2303 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Which is pretty useless because you can just make a temporary channel. Players don't need channels when they're offline. It's not useless. The only difference between that and a VIP channel is that you will eventually lose the temporary channel you make. VIPs have more control over their own channels other than to make other players channel admin.
argonian 14254 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Zerragon! Long time no see. Welcome back to the server. And yeah, VIP land claims were removed recently, but they've been pretty much gone for most of Asulon anyway.
ThanksChris 605 Share Posted January 7, 2013 The original question has been answered. Many thanks to Pikel and Blundermore for resolving the issue! As there is plenty of room for further questions in light of a returning player, I'll leave it up to Zeraggon whether he would like to inquire to further issues, or simply add a [Resolved] tag to the thread title, and myself or another Guide will be with you as soon as possible! Thank you for your cooperation, an have fun of LotC!

Taiga 764 Share Posted January 7, 2013 However, you are free to name the plot whatever you so desire, as long as you have a good reasoning. Perhaps naming it in remembrance to honour the fallen city of the North would suffice as your motive.
cruzazul 2815 Share Posted January 7, 2013 Welcome back! I am not entirely sure about the whole perks for VIPs anymore honestly but we all know for sure that the land claim perk was removed.
