In-Character Details

 

Character Name: Loukast

 

Character Race: Dwarf

 

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary: Loukast was born to a common middle-class Dwarven family. His father was a lumberjack and his mother was a housewife. He did not have any siblings and is thirty four years old. He has white hair and a rather long beard, large muscles and usually wears a small helmet. He is missing one finger on his right hand, which causes him to drop his pickaxe sometimes when mining. He is a generous man, but can sometimes have a short temper. He is loyal, but also righteous, and will make hard decisions if they can help justice be carried out as it should.
        One day in his late teens he was out cutting wood in place of his father, who was at home sick. He heard a whoosh from behind him and turned, raising his axe, just in time to catch the bandit's sword on the handle of his axe. However, he lost his right index finger, which was slightly higher on the handle than the rest, in the process. He fought and killed the bandit, and since then has preferred to fight with an axe. He, as so many dwarves are, is possessed with a great love for gems and metalworking, and works as a blacksmith and a miner wherever he can find a job. 

 

What are your characters ambitions?: To loyally protect whichever settlement employs him, to provide quality metal objects to his customers and to the settlement's warriors, and to help wherever his services can be used.

Open-Response-Questions

 

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

 

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response? I would buy some of his wares, if I could afford them, or just leave a tip for him if none of his wares could be useful to me. Also, I would recommend his store to anyone I heard attempting to obtain something that the shopkeeper is selling. If i found some villain attacking his shop and trying to steal what little he has, I would defend the shop myself. If the dwarf showed no gratitude and demonstrated that he is unworthy of such kindness, I would not help him, but neither would I hinder him. (When I use the word "I," I am referring to my character, not myself)

 

i]You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do? I would try to separate them, and hear the reasons for their argument. If violence was unavoidable, I would side with my kinsman, unless he was clearly in the wrong and the Orc was merely demanding justice for a crime the dwarf committed against him. However, I would try my best to avoid a fight and have the victim safely removed from the area. I would of course be a bit prejudiced against the Orc and more quick to side with the dwarf, but if it was clear that the Orc had greater reason to protest, I would be forced to concede. If it were possible to have a figure of authority come to sort it out, I would try to make it happen. (Again, "I" refers to my character)

 

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?: I try to find a branch somewhere to give the man a temporary walking stick, until he can obtain a new one. Then, I help him up, gather his coins, and try to find a container to keep them together. I would offer to escort him to his destination, so that his frail figure and the money he just spilled does not attract potential threats.  If he tries to pay me, I wave the money away and tell him he can repay me later in a different way if he insists. Along the journey, I talk to him and try to make a friend, while searching the sides of the road for anyone who would attack. Then as i leave him at his destination I ask for any rumors he has heard of a job I might be eligible for. Then I leave and tell him to find me if ever he needs my help again.
