In-Character Details

Character Name: Eluana Sweetgrass
Character Race: Half Elf (High Elf) Half Human
Character Age: 16
Character Personality: Eluana is a quiet person. She rarely opens up to people and rarely speaks until she knows someone. Having fled from place to place, she fears most people believing they will either harm her or turn her in to her old master. Once she opens up to people, she is a generally kind and calm person. She is easily attached to those who help her and often it leads her into trouble. Unable to distiguish emotions most of the time, she tends to become easily confused and often left hurt and upset. She wants nothing more than to be accepted and be a normal girl.
Character Biography: Eluana's story begins before her birth. Way before her birth. It actually started with her mother. A young scholar of  Haelun'or,  her mother was well loved. A beautiful elven woman with long silver hair named Jalia Sweetgrass. She mad her father proud when she chose a strong young warrior by the name of Elios. He spent many seasons courting her before she finally accepted his proposal. Jalia wed him by the second spring and they moved into their own home.

As years passed by, Jalia wandered further away from her home, into the forests. She felt at peace as she walked. It wasn't long before she stumbled across the body of a young hunter. He was badly injured and barely conscious. She did not even think of the reprocussions of her actions as she got him to her home. Elios was not home at the time and Jalia managed to the young man onto her bed. She spent her time healing and treating his wounds, helping him gain his strength. When Elios returned home, he found Jalia with the young man. Demanding that the boy be thrown back out into the wild, he found himself on the ground.

Jalia would not let Elios harm the man. "He is injured." she said. "He will leave when he is well." With that Elios left the house, swearing he would not be near such a "disgusting" creature. For weeks Jalia nursed the man back to health, despite the dark words spread by her husband. She had learned much about the man and the world beyond the woods. Within the few weeks she had been in Reginald's company, she found herself feeling different. She had fallen for the young hunter. When he was finally well enough to leave, her family was more than willing to throw him out, much to Jalia's protest.

As Reginald wandered back into the forest, he found himself being followed. Ready to slay the creature that followed, he was surprised when he found Jalia had followed him. She begged for him to take her with him. With much protest, he finally agreed and the two fled the land. Reginald was hesitant to admit he had fallen for the elven woman, but it was soon hard for him to deny it. When the two reached his homeland, Arethor, Reginald proclaimed his love and the two were married in secret.

Jalia felt no regret at throwing away her elven life to be with the man she loved. It was not long before the couple found themselves with child. Cast out by not only the elven society, but also human, the two moved into the forest. Reginald built them a small home in the forest and there they had their daughter, Eluana Sweetgrass. They had wished to keep the name only to remind her of her heritage. The time flew by for the small family in bliss. Jalia adored her daughter and Reginald protected them both.

Happy with her family and quiet life, Jalia began teaching Eluana how to walk and talk. Being a scholar always left her anxious to go and learn more. When Eluana turned four, Jalia convince Reginald to allow her to go learn at a local town. With his blessing and a sad goodbye, Jalia took off to learn what she could. She was gone for months, but she knew something had happened to her family the moment she stepped into the woods.

She neared the cottage and found her husband's body laying against the door frame. His right arm broken and bite marks covered his face and neck. Distraught, Jalia ran to see if maybe he was still alive. She found not breath and pain struck her heart. It was in that moment she turned to the house. Would she find her daughter in even worse condition? Slowly she entered, finding blood splattering the walls of her home.

Unable to fine anything of her daughter, Jalia feared the worst. Taking Reginald's sword, she headed into the mountains, returning to her elven home. With no one left for her in the outside, she became reclusive and forced herself into her studies. Never once did she look farther for her family, instead she stayed in deep mourning in the libraries, letting knowledge seep into her and heal her wounds.

If Jalia had continued to look, she may have found her daughter. Eluana had survived the attack, barely. She had escaped into the woods, fleeing for her life. She stumbled onto a deserted road just as the howl of a wolf signaled the monsters that still chased her. As she ran again, something knocked her over and she hit the ground hard. Hot breath sat at the nape of her neck, causing her to shiver before everything went dark.

She woke up in a strange house with a man. He smiled as he told her he had saved her. Pulling into a hug, he told her his name was Victor Alexander II, a lord. He comforted her and helped her recover from her ordeal. Believing she was orphaned, Eluana looked up to Victor as a father and a parent. For nights she would wake up screaming, seeing the death of her father. Victor would comfort her as often as she needed.

AS she grew older, she began noticing things were changing. He had stopped teaching her and given her chores. At first she did not mind. She would clean the house, feed his animals, tend to his farm. It usually left her exhausted in the end, but she had at least one friend. A woman named Idani had become her closest friend, a high elf slave. Idani would tell her stories of the elven lands before bed, and help with chores during the day.

When Eluana turned ten, she started noticing the lord's odd behavior around Idani. On some nights she would hear moans from his room and not long after cries of pain. Idani would exit the room and cover her shame and tears with a fake smile to Eluana. "I pray this never happens to you." she would tell her before taking her to bed. The older Eluana got, the harder it was to ignore what was truly wrong with her life.

Victor advanced on her more and more, struck her when she would not obey. One night she found Idani, her sister, her friend, lying dead in the kitchen. Deep purple marks marred her neck. Eluana cried for her only friend before turning on her master. She struck at him with a knife but quickly found herself unmatched. Enraged he grabbed her and cut her deep on the throat. Though she was lucky to have survived the encounter, she was scarred.

No longer allowed a room, she was chained in the dungeons at night and forced to work during the day. Her life became truly unbearable. It was on a stormy night, that she finally was able to free herself and run. She could hear the swearing of her lord as she fled into the forest. She ran until her legs could carry her no more, hoping to be free fully from her nightmare. With scars marring her flesh, she continued on.
Character Appearance: Eluana is a small girl in size. Though she isnt short, she isnt very tall either, unlike her high elf family. She has long silver hair that reaches down to the small of her back. A trait she gained from her mother. Her eyes are a soft light blue rimmed with sapphire, the one thing she retained from her father. She is found wearing very little, a simple green dress that reveals many of her scars. Over her left eye is a scar she gained during an accident when she was twelve. On her neck is a deep red scar from when her master nearly ended her life. It sits on the left side, near her artery. The scars that mar her legs and arms are from her attempts to free herself out of the dungeon when she was escaping. She looks underfed and malnourished since she left her lord, making her look weak and defenseless. Nearly faded bruises mark where her shackles were on her wrists and ankles.

What are your characters ambitions?: To be free of her chains and her nightmares.
Please provide an in-game screenshot of your skin here: Skin, Eluana Art
Is there anything else you would like to say about your character: Though she lost her parents when she was only four, she looked up to her master as a father. When he turned on her, she ran, fleeing from the land in hopes of being free and learning more about who she really is, and who she belongs to.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question here must be answered with a minimum of one full paragraph, and detail the scene you are given in the way it would happen in roleplay. These questions should be answered in first person. Be detailed, not short.

As fun as roleplaying by myself is, *sarcasm*, I rather have someone to roleplay with. Since I do not have a partner, I will post alone. I can only do so in third person and thus be prepared to do a bit of reading. I stopped the scenes short cause I did not want to go too far into things, if I need to I can provide roleplay samples that I did.

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

Eluana slowly stepped into the large city, her soft blue eyes darting back and forth as she moved further in. A small pouch of minas gripped in her shaky hands. The city was large and confusing to her, having just barely escaping her master. People shuffled past her, startling her and causing her to stumble. "Watch it!" a man yelled as she stumbled into his path. Her eyes widened and she shrunk back into the shadows, fearing she would be struck by the large human. He eyed her ears for a moment before turning away from her in a huff.

Eluana swallowed hard as she tried to regain some sort of courage as she ventured deeper into the city. She had to find something to eat. A gurgle escaped her hallowed stomach, forcing her to sigh sadly. Taking a breath she turned a corner and was greated by the sight of many merchants. A smile graced her dry lips as she moved closer, sniffing each of the stalls. One had caught her eye and she quickly moved closer to it. The concept of paying and owning long lost on her. Her eyes gazed past the price sign and towards the pumpkin pie on display.

Slowly she reached out and took a slice, pulling it closer to her lips. "HEY!" the shop owner yelled. "You have to pay for that!" Startled, Eluana dropped the piece of pie and jumped away. Her eyes wide in fear as she looked over the shop owner. "S-Sorry..." she whimpered before running to another stall to hide. She backed up further, bumping into a smaller man, causing her to jump. She turned and stared at him, fear flooding her eyes as she looked at him. "I...I am sorry..." she whimpered as she tried to correct herself.

The man, a dwarf, looked at her with kind eyes. "It's alright lass." he said, his voice gruff and kind. "It's hard living here in the human lands when you are not human." He smiled and brought her over to his stall. "You are not from around here, are you?" Slowly Eluana shook her head, not sure what to say. "Don't worry, maybe I can help you." Seeing another person struggle made him worry less about getting his own items sold and helping the poor young girl find her way. "Here, let's get you started."

Over next few hours, well into the shrinking light of sunset, the dwarf helped Eluana understand what minas were and how to use them. Her basic understanding of economy and wares was improving. As the night wore on, the dwarf paid for some food for himself and Eluana, telling her about his homeland and how he had come to the city. Grateful for his help, Eluana gave him half of the coins she had to him as payment for teaching. Although it was a meager amount, the dwarf graciously accepted just as she left his side.

You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?
Night time, Eluana's most dreaded time. How did she end up walking the road at night? She should have stayed in the town. Shaking her head, Eluana continued on. A sign reading Oren road was lost on her long ago. She turned her blue eyes towards the sky. It was peaceful that night at least. She smiled slightly as she continued to walk. Her bare feet scrapped across the road as she stepped lightly. The trees moved in the wind, causing a soft rustling in the background.

Eluana could feel her short dress dance slightly against her scarred flesh as she walked. A sound broke the calm forcing her to turn her attention ahead. The full moon above her created enough light for her to spot two figures ahead. One was a smaller man, no more than four feet tall. Another was a giant of a creature, taller than her and as big as a tree. As she moved closer, she could hear the raised voices. Fearing for herself, she slipped into the tree line.

Against her better judgement, she moved closer, curious as to what they were saying. She made a conscious decision to stay in the trees. "You must be mad, Orc, if you think I will let you bully me around!" the shorter man said. His thick beard hid half his face as he tried to stand tall. Eluana admired the short man's courage, even though she knew it was folly against a large Orc's brute strength.

The Orc moved closer to the shorter man, his teeth showing in a large snarl. "Dwarf, you will hand over your minas, or else!" he growled. Even from where she sat, she could smell the foul stench of his breath. She crept forward a little more, hoping she could get past them. As she stepped, a twig snapped, forcing two sets of eyes on her location. A small squeak escaped her as the large creature moved towards her.

Taking his chance to flee, Eluana watched as the dwarf made off down the road. However, her concern was the Orc now charging towards her. With a cry, Eluana ran as fast as she could, ignoring the sting of branches as they whipped her skin. She ran as fast as she could towards freedom. The heavy footfalls of the beast behind her forced her to push harder as she ran. A cry escaped her as below her the ground gave out and she fell into a hole.

She had managed to escape her pursuer  but she soon found herself in a different situation. Swallowing hard, she looked around the dim area, quickly realizing she had fallen down into an abandoned mine. Shaking, she turned her head towards the light at the end of the tunnel and moved forward. Maybe she would get out of this alive. Maybe. Or maybe she would end up an accident who would only vanish from existence.

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:

Eluana was glad to see the sun that morning. Its warm rays felt good on her cool skin. She stopped for a moment to pull a twig off of her dress. Her eyes shimmered slightly with pleasure as she wandered the road to Malinor. As she walked, she pulled her hair over her shoulder and began braiding it, keeping it out of her face as she worked. As she finished she noticed someone walking towards her.

He was an elderly man, frail and weak in appearance. She slowed and watched him as he made his way along. Something about this man sparked her curiosity as she stood there. He wasn't a very tall man, the years had weighed heavy on his old bones. His stick rattled with each tap to the ground it made. It was obvious to Eluana that the stick would not last much longer. As the man neared her, a loud crack split the air and he fell.

Thinking quickly, she moved forward to help the man. "A-are you alright?" she stammered as she moved to his side. Her eyes never once looked down at the spilled coins. She slowly helped him up, checking him for injury. A smile came to his lips as he looked at her. "Bless you child." he said as he sat there. Quietly, Eluana helped him pick up his bag and coins. As she put the coins back into the small pouch, she looked around her for something else.

Not far from them was some trees. Slowly, Eluana stood up and moved towards the trees. "Wait here..." she said before beginning her search. She wanted to find something more stable for the elderly man to walk with. Her search was beginning to look bleak. There were sticks all around her, but none of them fit the need. This one was too big, this one too small. This one wasn't sturdy enough, this one full of ants.

Eluana dropped her newest find with disgust before turning back towards the old man. It was then she spotted something against a tree. Smiling she stepped towards it and held it out. It was the right size for the elderly man to use and looked sturdy enough to last him a long time. She cleaned it off with her hand, making sure nothing would poke or prod the man in his palm. Smiling, she turned back towards him and bounded out of the trees.

She moved towards him and held out the stick. "Here!" She said as she handed it over. He slowly stood and leaned on the stick. A crooked smile graced his wrinkled face as he looked at her. "Thank you child." he said. He opened his pouch of coins and held out a small amount to her. "Take this and buy yourself something." With that he bade her farewell before continuing his journey down the road.
