A Question From An Outsider

While in the central Malinor Forum, you spot an unfamiliar figure: a bulky man, obviously a Valah due to his stature and form, wearing a green cloak and a curious helmet covering his upper face. You see the Valah walk to the noticeboard, glancing at the papers and seemingly uninterested in reading them, until he spots a new notice which had just been posted on the board a few hours before. He regards it curiously, turning his head. He walks off for a moment, to interrupt a group of Mali who were having a discussion. You can't hear what he says to them, but they nod and approach the noticeboard, pointing to the Citizenship Notice and speaking in parts, giving you the impression that they are reading it to him. When they are finished, the Mali leave the board and resume their talking.

But the helmeted Valah looks perturbed, stroking his short beard with his fingers, thinking. After some time, he walks assuredly to the center of the forum, and begins to speak.

"I am Kenned as Briarspoken, and say this before you all for it is not known to me the art of writing to have my words spoken to the eyes - for only those who can answer my questions to read on their own. So, I shall speak here, and hope there is a one who can give me the answers I am seeking.

"On this "Citizenship in Malinor" form, it is saying that I must make myself as a Partial Citizen. Though I cannot, as I have not lived within the Branchmen lands for fifteen of the years. Yet at the same time, I have been granted a lodge to live in by Rootman Prince Khel, and he barters of me for my carpenter craft, and I am given the worth coins in return.

"So I ask of those who know the answers: what shall happen to me? Shall my lodge be taken, my carpenter craft unsought, the worth coins not traded to me?"

You can live in Malinor with only a residence.

*shouts Rosso after reading the notice*

Not that I care, I live with someone else.

*shouts once more to the one asking*

I can read you the part you qualify for pal, if you want.

From the rules it seems not. Seems only half elves can make a shop. You would have to make a shop in your own house, or just work for the nation and get payed for your work.

Elindor replies to the man,

"Malinor has great need for a skilled carpenter. Too long have I eaten on wonky tables and mended my own chairs where their legs have buckled underneath my meagre weight. However, times be a changing in the land of elves and there is every chance that you will not be welcomed to live here, but only to work.

He takes a slight pause

You do well in taking this matter to Khel. You may apply to be a resident, however Khel will see to it that you are taken care of. As much as you may esteem the virtues of reading and writing, your admiration is placed wrongfully, for here words have little meaning and are easily blown away with a breeze.

He points at the pages that shake as a gentle breeze blows.
