 Out-Of-Character Information

Please fill out the
following questions as accurately as possible, and ensure the essential details
are accurate.

Minecraft Account Name: Nayrukaita

How old are you?:22

Time-Zone: (UTC-06:00)
Central Time

Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes, I have.

What previous experience have you had in role-playing?:I began roleplaying at
fourteen years old on the Gaia forums, before moving onto several RP MUDs (to
those who have never heard of them, think of an old text adventure game, only
played with other people). I’m still active in two of them, and the third just
ended after a two and a half year run.

How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: I’ve heard of LotC before,
and after some research, I found it was the most highest recommended of the
Minecraft RP servers.

Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: N/A

Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do
so (link above): I’ll be posting this to the Minecraft Forum first, in fact.

Have you read the Human lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and
follow it in your biography?: Indeed I have, as well as all the lore listed on
the wiki. I’ve also read several of the threads in the Halfling Roleplay Forum,
the Halfling rules, how to get a Burrow, and have a good grasp of the LotC
Halfling timeline.

Definitions

In your own words define
the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: To write for and immerse yourself in the mindset of a character
who exists in another world, and subsequently experience scenarios that would
be impossible in any other artistic medium.

 Meta-gaming: Forgetting or deliberately
ignoring the boundaries between your character and yourself in regards to
knowledge, usually in the attempt to make your character seem wiser, more
knowledgeable, or even more well-liked in game. As an example, if a thief was
trying to steal a certain artifact, and knew it was in a certain house in a
certain chest because their player possessed the knowledge, though the
character would have no reason to know so.

Power-emoting: Ignoring the boundaries within the set universe to give your
character impossible, god-like powers, or try to twist fate so that it favors
your character unreasonably. For example, if a halfling character wiped out an
Orc settlement with his shovel, or a human miraculously recovered from a lethal
wound without explanation.

In-Character
Information:

Complete the following
biography on your character:

Full Name: Leena Poppyboon

Current Age: 36

Sub-race (if any): Halfling

Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):
Leena was born to her parents, Burby and May Poppyboon, in the peaceful hamlet of
Branborough. She spent her childhood enjoying the vale’s simple and abundant
joys, trying to coax the ‘river monster’ from its den by tossing pebbles into
the waters, fishing, and climbing trees to claim their fruit. However, those
years came to an end when her father decided to move his family out to the
west. Burby had long dreamed of founding a halfling town of his own, and,
joined by two other families, he began eagerly trying to set up a settlement.
His wife May, while missing Branborough, did her best to help her husband.
Little Leena was the one who took it hardest, as all children separated from
friends and family do. The two other families that joined them were young and
had no children for Leena to play with. So instead, the girl devoted her
attentions to helping her mother and father, and mastering the craft her family
was known for: baking.

In a few years time, Leena had surpassed her mother’s skill, and announced that when she
grew up, she was going to open a bakery. Her father praised his daughter’s
decision, as no halfling settlement should be without good food, least of all
his.

Sadly, Burby’s dream of establishing a town never came to fruition. Orc raids, a harsh
drought, and whispers of growing danger drove the other families away one by
one, until finally Leena and her parents were forced to pack their few
belongings and abandon the settlement as well.

The years passed quickly without the Poppyboons finding a permanent home. The
dangers and yearning for home took a toll on Leena’s parents; her mother died
of illness, and her father soon followed, but not before he made his daughter
promise to seek the simple, happy life of her childhood. With only a small pack
of belongings, a half-full coin purse, and her mother’s treasured recipes, the
fully-grown Leena set out to find a place she could put roots down among her
kin.

Ambitions for the Future: To settle down on a good patch of earth, open a
bakery, and perhaps even find a strapping young halfling for a husband. She’d
also like to own her own cow.

Personality: Sweet, kind, and enthusiastic about life’s simple pleasures; often
frightened or anxious, and easily startled; wary of strangers, but polite. Gets
a bit more brave and saucy when she gets enough honey mead into her.

Skills: Cooking, particularly baking, at which she excels. Modestly good at
farming, but nothing fancier than a few flower beds and the family vegetable
garden. A good singer. Fishing strictly as a hobby.

Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Leena is
petite and modestly pretty, with one green eye and one green-blue eye. She has
long mahogany locks she keeps tied back with green ribbon. She wears a
cream-colored blouse with loose sleeves that hang to reveal her shoulders, a
leather corset, and a forest green cotton skirt that ends just below her knees.
Her legs and feet are bare.

Any
other details you wish to share about your character:Leena has an inherent
distrust of other races, particularly Orcs. The race she finds most agreeable
are Elves, but much prefers them, like the other races, to keep to themselves.
Due to little experience with men, she becomes quite shy when they focus their
attentions on her.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one
paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as
possible and do not break character or lore at any point.

____

1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure
stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no
good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?

Answer: Leena would quickly move as far away from the thief as possible. She’d
consider telling the guards about the unsavory character, but decide the
guards, with their armor and weapons, are just too frightful-looking for her to
talk to. After a few moments of inner turmoil, she’d assure herself the palace
will no doubt be bustling with guards and the shady character wouldn’t make it
far. Besides, it was really none of her business to begin with, and if she had
informed a guard and they’d caught the character, why, for all she knew, he
might go after her the next time. Yes, she would decide, it was for the best
she ignored the event entirely. Leena would use this instance as evidence that
the world of the tall-folk is indeed no place for a halfling.

2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing,
in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man
armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they
appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron
longsword, how do you react?

Answer: Leena would run as fast as her bare feet could carry her, holding her
sword and casting fearful glances over her shoulder. When she was safely out of
danger, she’d worry about the old man, but convince herself that he was
probably just fine. After all, he did have a knife. As she thought about it
more, she’d wonder why they were going after a clearly poor man to begin with,
and then decide in horror it must have been an elaborate scheme to mug her, and
if she’d charged in to help the man, they’d have all turned on her, stolen her
belongings, and left her to rot. This revelation would send her scurrying
quickly back home, relieved she had avoided such danger, and praising her instincts.

3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small
man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that
the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just
about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to
haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of
choice and the discussion that happens).

Answer: Leena would be wary at first, thinking the items might be stolen, but
after noticing he does indeed have quite a few good things, she’d move a bit
closer to browse. She’d ask the merchant a few questions about where he got his
wares, and after being satisfied with his answers, begin to look in earnest.
Her attention would go right to the food he had. She’d curiously ask about a
few sausages hanging, and, when informed they were made using an Orcish recipe,
scoot away and go back to browsing the cheeses. She’d take a special interest
in a small round of fine aged cheddar, and offer a few Minas less than what she
typically would spend. When the man asked for a wee bit more, Leena would
agree, and pay for it. She’d again offer a little less on a jar of peach jelly,
but when he asked for more, reply that she could probably make it at home, and
go to look elsewhere before the man agreed to her former price. Leena would
purchase it happily, thinking she’d found a great deal, and go on to buy some
flour and sugar at their listed price, because the poor man probably has a
family to feed and trying to get everything at a discount would make her just
as greedy as a dwarf. Leena would glance at the eggs and butter, but decide to
purchase such things from her farming kinsmen; their produce would undoubtedly
be safer and taste better, and she’d much rather give her Minas to her
neighbors. Leena would conclude her business with a smile and a “Good day t’ye
then!”, and set off for home with her treasures in hand.

Your application has been...

Accepted!

An outstanding application. You really seem to understand the essence of what it means to be a Halfling and I have no doubt you'll be able to pull it off well.

The server is currently set in the worlds of Elysium and Kalos, introduced after Asulon fell. If you have any questions getting oriented you can ask on the forums, in-game or send me a PM.

Welcome to the Lord of the Craft! Please wait patiently for a GM to whitelist you.
