A Call For Literature!

In cities and keeps, monasteries and Inns, posters hang of an offer, for literature...

 

Greetings! I am Myoni Hartsdottir, and it is my dream to bring the world of literature to all who wish to grasp it. A lost art only appreciated by Lords and Ladies, Princes and others of higher class; I seek bring the wonders of books to any who wonder through my doors.

 

However, my shelves are empty and I have no books to sell, no stories to tell, which is why you see these posters.

 

I am paying anyone and everyone to author books, stories, histories, guides, biographies,religious texts and maps, and send them to me. I will pay as books sell, and you'll recieve a stipend of what the book sold for, I can not give all of what I sell to you as I'd like as I do have to buy paper and binding, pay taxes where ever I sell my books, and all of this can be expensive.

 

If you want to sell your stories, pen them up in a letter and send them my way, I'll read, revise and sell them! Or if you can't write, come to my store; I always love to hear them.

As some may know I recently received a bookstore in Oren, and I have no books to sale! So I'll be taking any and selling them as is wished. If you'd like to publish a story, write it up in a post below, or a GoogleDoc, or post a link below and Roleplay it in letter or visit format.

 

I'll copy the texts into book form, and sale them.

 

PLEASE DO NOTE: 

 

Oren is a very religious place, so any texts of religious practice or doctrine not of Oren belief will be labeled and taxed heavily, and texts of her enemies could banned from sale outright. I will not however, have any book burning as we are sponsored by Imperial Royalty. Should any texts remain unsold for any lengthy duration of time, they will unbound and remade, I wish to keep this bookshop open, not create a collection.

 

As well, I will be frequenting the Literature sections of the forums, and contacting those whose stories I enjoy about publishing them, I will not publish anything written by a Permanently Banned Player or party. I will also be searching the Guide sections to make those that apply to available in character.

The Farmers Guide

Many people wish to lead the lifestyle of a "Farmer". Alas, they think that being a farmer is just acquiring some land and farming it.

That is the typical few towards us farming folk. But there is more,much more to being a farmer.In this guidebook, I,Raomir,will tell you how to be a farmer!

In order to be a farmer, you must own some land, this is the main thing. You don't have to personally own it, but you must have some land to plow and grow your crops on.It is also usualy best to get a large plot, around 50 by 50 miles(blocks) or larger if possible. This way you can farm lots and lots of crops.Now many people usualy think what should I grow? Well the simplest answer to that question is find out what is in demand.If people are on the streets begging for wheat, grow lots and lots of wheat. This is simple economics(which is also a part of being a farmer). The good thing about being a farmer is if the crop you are farming goes out of demand the next season. You can swap to growing the next most wanted crop,making farming a good way to make a living!

 

Because being a Farmer is such a profitable lifestyle, many people become farmers. Because there is so many of us it may be hard for new farmers to get some money. The biggest reason being,the other farmers have already established good reputations with businesses. So my advice or this is to wait for the construction of a new town.While it is being constructed, attempt to buy some of the land around the new town, If you are lucky enough to get some land, set up the farm and wait for the town to be constructed. As businesses pop up you offer them your crops and slowly you become one of the main farmers in the area. You could also just wait for a tavern or some sort of resturant to be opened in an old town and ask to supply it, it works all the same.

 

Now there are many techniques for farming.The best one if you ask me, is to dig up some land randomly, in a canal fashion.Make sure you do not dig too deep thought, 1 meter down is probably the best length.. Go to the nearest water source and divert some of the water to your farm. It should fill in all those canals you dug up on your land.Then make yourself a hoe(or buy one) and begin to plow the land. Once you have plowed the land get the seeds of the plant you wish to grow. In my case I grow wheat. So I would get some wheat seeds and begin putting them into the plowed land. Making sure not to put too many in one spot. Make sure the seeds fall into the ground and are covered up by dirt ,or else they will NOT grow.Once this is done there is truly not much to be done.You wait, day by day for the crop to grow.

 

When the crop has grown and is nice and ready,then it is time to harvest it! You should get a nice hat if it is hot outside so you do not burn your face.You go to the plant you wish to harvest and take it GENTLY take it out of the ground(If it is something like a melon then just separate it from its vine) so you do not break the crop. This must be done every single time for all the crops you have grown. After you have harvested all your crop, it is time to re-plant your crop.Which I explained in the part before this.

 

That is all there is too Farming.If I discover more to it I shall write another book with my discoveries. I hope these tips help you out in your farming endeavors. Feel free to send me birds or come visit my farm by Salvus in the village of Kingshire.
