Definitions
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: 'Roleplaying' is the act of pretending to be someone/something else. While you roleplay, you take decisions based on your character, not yourself. For example, you can chose two different routes in Skyrim( I am using Skyrim as an example because everyone knows it): The one where you do not care about the choices your character make, and the one, where your play-style is defined by your character. A non-roleplay play-through could include a paladin character pickpocketing from innocent women, or a warlock adopting a child, without any evil intentions. A roleplay play-though would mean that all your decisions are defined by your character. If you're a hunter, you would probably not wear full demonic armour and a mighty battle axe.

Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is when you aim to get/do something, and forget your characters abilities and feelings. For example:
A person OOC-chats with his friends, and hears that bandits have planned to attack a
small caravan. He then proceeds to roleplay that his merchant character
somehow learned, where the assault would happen, and tells the city
guard.
This example shows what's wrong with meta-gaming. The "meta-gamer's" character should not have known, where the assault would happen. It's impossible to have a working forum and OOC-chat, if people are simply going to abuse the date they collect.

Power-emoting: Power-emoting is the act of forcing emotes upon your fellow roleplayer; an example could be the following:
*John smacksthe orc in the face, and the orc falls to the ground*
This example shows the wickednessof power-emoting quite clearly. The orc has no options here. He can't say that
the punch misses, as the power-emote clearly says that the punch hit. Also, hisfuture actions have also already been set, as the emote clearly states that he "falls to the ground".
Instead, anemote as this would be much better for a healthy roleplay:
*John aims his fist at the orc's face, and as he channels all his fury into one punch, he hopes to knock the savage     warrior to the ground*
This emote, filled with details, has broadened the orc's possibilities to answer considerably, in relation with the previous emote. The orc is perfectly able to answer '*Goz'Urk avoids the punch*'.

In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

Full Name:

Mathius Petersson
Current Age:

20
Sub-race (if any):

I am a Northernor

Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):

Mathius Petersson was born in a year of terror; as the fire of winged demons destroyed the Dwarven city of Karek, with all of its treasures and wonders, Mathius was born as the first son of a leatherworker. In the snowy mountains of Hanseti, where both day and night were chilling, he spent most of his youth inside, learning the art of reading and writing. His mother, a pious woman, had herself learned it from the local priest. The limited amount of books at Mathius' disposal were mainly theological, but stories like 'The Ghost of the Singing Maiden' could also be found.

On his 13th birthday, Mathius had to abandon his studies. His father needed him as an extra set of arms in the leather workshop. Here, Mathius spent the majority of his time tanning cow leather with an oil made of animal brains. This procedure allowed for the leather to become much smoother, and thereby worth more as a luxury good. His father's soft fur became quite popular in Konigsberg. As Mathius grew older, he learned the art of fishing from his uncle, who sometimes needed Mathius as a companion. The many salmon his uncle caught gave Mathius an innovative idea; could he possibly make leather out of salmon skin? After months of work, his attempts paid off. He was able to tan salmon leather into luxurious, smooth leather, perfect for gloves and shoes. After weeks of crafting had Mathius built enough; he could now travel to Konigsberg, where he hopefully could sell the goods.

The business trip to Konigsberg was a success, and Mathius had received a fair sum of minas. He decided to buy paper with his money, to construct a book for his notes. This first notebook proved to be quite a worthy investment. For the following months, Mathius wrote any knowledge of his down. Notes about leatherworking were mixed with his uncle's hunting tips; even theological notes were to be found amongst descriptions of making bear traps. After many months of this procedure, an opportunity revealed itself for Mathius; a local priest wanted to employ Mathius as an assistant. Although his dad wanted to keep Mathius, he at last accepted that Mathius could not be forced to stay. Either way, Mathius' brother had just begun to work in the workshop, making Mathius less vital. He gave Mathius a bag out of buckskin as a final gift.

Working in the church gave Mathius what he desired; the priest owned a thorough collection of books; Mathius' afternoons and nights were spent in the library, reading everything there was. The high amount of theological studies could not quench Mathius' more logical way of thinking. His interests moved away from hunting and leatherworking, as he became much more interested in the studies of various plants. Blonde blossom and roses were of special interest to Mathius, who experimented by growing them in several kinds of dirt and various amounts of water. His research did not lead to much, but he slowly began to understand the flower's growth conditions.
At the age of 19, Mathius decided to leave the church; he had grown tired of the theological studies of the church. He left the church with nothing but his buckskin bag and his beloved notebook.

Ambitions for the Future:

Mathius wants to use his understanding of leatherworking, and hopefully become an artisan in a city. He also wants to read and collect books, maybe even write one or two!

Personality:

Mathius is shy; in his youth, only his family was there regularly to talk to, and it takes time before he allows someone into his thoughts. He is also very thorough with his handcraft. He also

Skills:

Leatherworking, acceptable hunting, novice archery and reading and writing.

Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin):

Mathius wears a green shirt and black paints. He has a leather bag with him, in which he keeps his notebook.

Any other details you wish to share about your character:

Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____

1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperors palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?

Answer:Mathius sees the figure, yet he at first sees no reason to take action; he does not want to start trouble. But, as the figure walks closer to the palace, Mathius feels obliged to at least alert the guards. He does not want to attract attention, so he walks up to the guards, where he says: "Greetings! I would like you to pay special attention to the dark-clothed man, approaching the palace. I fear he might be up to something vile". As the guards begin to investigate, Mathius takes his leave; he does not want anything to do with future events.

2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react?

AnswerMathius knows that actions like these are wrong. These men will pay one day, he thinks, referring back to the greatest of laws. Yet, he clearly knows that he is no match to two bandits. His best option seems to be to wait, and he finds cover behind an old, mossy log. The encounter only takes two minutes; the bandits are quick to disarm the old man and take his belongings, then they leave. They leave only a wounded, old man lying on the ground. As soon as they are out of hearing distance, Mathius runs over. The man seems to not have been wounded much. Mathius helps him inside, where he shares some of his supplies, mainly food, with the old man.

3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens).

Answer: Mathius approaches the man and looks at the variety of items. His focus lies on a book about the history of the Holy Oren Empire.

"This book seems to be of good quality." He picks the book up and examines it.
"It is!", the merchant says: "I will sell you it for only 150 minas!"
"That is a bit much, or?" Mathius hopes to lower the price by at least 20 minas.
"Hmm, do you have a better price?"
"What about 130?"
"140 at least."
"Acceptable price, I suppose"
Mathius proceeds to buy the book, where after he says "Thank you for the trade; I hope you will have a good day. Farewell!"

Your application has been...

AcceptedApplication3_zps3a241b9f.png

Really good job, excellent application in all areas. Just be aware that Konigsberg was a city in Aegis, which fell over seventy years ago. Therefore your character would never have been there.

Welcome to Anthos! Please wait patiently for a GM to whitelist you.
