Dun_Irongut 104 Share Posted March 15, 2013 *Dun stands at the entrance to the Kal'Azgoth, the noise of his throat being cleared echoing through the halls* As uv late, the quality of minas that 'as been flowin' inte kingdom coffers and the 'ands of our citizens 'as been lackin'. 'ow are we te pay fer public works? Grand 'alls? 'ow are we te fund war if the coin must come frem the 'ands uv others through donation er charity. The lack uv organization and overall stabiliteh falls te one uv our brothers, Moruk Frostbeard. I de not wish te slander 'im, as he was a fine choice for the job. But brothers, no such job has been taken. Our coffers stand empty and the lands empty of shops and merchants. Private industry 'as taken up the mantle and this is a fine thing, however the kingdom itself must be strong in the ways uv its coin and as uv now, it is clearly withering. Section B of the Articles of Urguan clearly states and I quote, "The King’s Council members are appointed by their respective predecessors. In the event there was not one appointed or said dwarf was deemed criminal, dishonorable, or unstable upon the removal of his position, the duty of electing a new position will fall on the King. The king may either appoint one himself er allow the people uv the kingdom te elect a new one." These are troubling times and we should not fault Moruk Frostbeard fer being unable to deal with such issues. War, family, politics... All of these may play a part in why 'e has been unable te accomplish what was asked of him. I doubt 'e has made "politicians" promises and I de believe 'e is a man uv 'is word. However, might I suggest that someone else is selected the job to enact policies in a much faster manner? As uv now, I nominate Gamle Irongut fer the position, if 'e is willin'. 'e seems te be the most capable travelin' merchant around and knows the market quite well. Give yerselves some time te think and then I urge yeh te petition the kin', that is if 'e does not 'ear this plea fer 'imself. *Dun then walks toward the bottom of the stairs to listen to hear out his fellow brothers*
fernandezbunch 3 Share Posted March 16, 2013 Finki laughs loudly and stands up to speak. It is about time someone addresses this issue! Moruk, as in the tradition of his clan, has taking into hiding in caves, much like his forefathers of old in the hidden city of Jornheim. Finki takes another moment to chuckle. Not that there is anything wrong with that! By no means! *chuckles* Why, there is much honor in following the traditions of your ancestors! Finki pauses for a moment and smiles. But one thing is for certain, and that is that the economic productivity of the Merchant Guild has grinded into a complete halt due to Moruk's respectable decision to seclude himself from all interaction. But this was to be expected! This is what happens when you give a position that rightfully belongs to the Goldhands to a Dwarf who is not of the Goldhands! The Goldhand Clan, since its beginning in the great days of Tungdil, has always been a clan of the finest merchants, and thus the position of Grand Merchant has always belonged to them. *laughs* Unless, of course, the Kingdom of Urguan wishes not to prosper! If old Omi wants the Kingdom to become barren of any sort of wealth and fortune, then, by all means, choose a Dwarf who is not of the Goldhands for the office! Finki pauses again with a beaming smile. BUT...if our good King Omi wants the Kingdom to once again be a place of wealth, a shining underground palace of gold and jewels, as it should be...then he should choose a Goldhand for the office. And I know just who out of the great Goldhand Family Omi should look to! *chuckles* Why, none other than Gulroid, our wise clan elder! The position of Grand Merchant unarguably belongs to him. He has loyally been in the service of the Kingdom of Urguan since- *chuckles* Well, practically since its beginning! *smiles* And he has ALWAYS, I can assure you from personal experience, ALWAYS expressed a incredibly thorough understanding of the value of the coin. Gulroid, beyond any form of doubt, and entirely within the reach of moral obligation to our great underground kingdom, is the best choice for Grand Merchant. Finki smiles and then sits down, craftily preparing more arguments to support the nomination he just made.

Nae un 'ere should be deffendin' Moruk but 'imself. Per'aps we will begin' te gather a petition, but I've addressed this quite clearly te the kin' and I sincerely 'ope that Moruk stands up te the challenge uv leadin' the finances uv our great nation. 'owever, the Grand Merchant's job is nay dun when we dunnae 'ave any exports. There are traders te send about, roads te finance and petition the kin' fer te expand trade, the guild te manage, and several other thin's that should be expected. I'm quite understandin' if 'e's ill, but 'e needs te deffend 'imself and explain why these thin's 'ave not been done er started.
