Full Name: Silas

Current Age: 127

Sub-race (if any): Dark-Elf

Past / History (include
childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): As a young child, Silas was rather reclusive amongst the other Elves around them. He did develop good communication skills and got along well with others, especially his older friend Arlon, but he did spend a good share of his time in seek of privacy for personal bettering – that is, bettering his understanding of the world around him, philosophical contemplation, and seeking general
wisdom and talents. He spent the first few decades of his life focused on this.
After diverging from that as his primary focus and gaining a good amount of wisdom, experience, and skills (ranging anywhere from art and cooking to armed combat and stealth) he continued his life as a normal working Elf in Malinor.

 

            However, his older friend Arlon had grown corrupt over time – becoming a malicious thief and criminal, and growing dishonest and hostile to those he once loved. One day, Silas confronted Arlon about his actions and this resulted in a violent fight in which Arlon only suffered cuts and bruises, but Silas suffered head trauma in which he lost some random past memories, the skills he was once so good at, and some of the wisdom and understanding he had built for so many years. After this event, Arlon had stepped down from his malicious lifestyle after seeing the result of his
actions, but had disappeared on his own quest for personal bettering – far from the life he once shared with Silas.

 

Ambitions for the Future: Silas’ main drive is to regain back his lost insight and great understanding of the world he once had. He was once skilled at many things and had a bright future ahead of him, but he lost it to the head injury, and seeks to regain these talents and bits of wisdom to resume the path of enlightenment and greatness he once pursued. He is not concerned with acquiring excess wealth or power, but seeks to redevelop himself in as many aspects of life as he can.

Personality: Silas is a very benevolent being – always willing to help out those in need. However, he is not naïve or to be taken advantage of, as he is very wary and cautious of the workings of evil. He is very calm, collected, and analytical – always attempting to reason and make sense out of situation before making any rash decisions. However, he is not cowardly, and although he tends to stray from violence, he will actively defend himself or use force in defense of another. He’s still able to have a sense of humor and passion for things, as he is alive like everyone else still – only on
a different path.

Skills: He is pretty much average at best at most things, but is eager to take up on anything that draws or once drew his attention. However, he has not lost his communication or reasoning skills and is therefore skilled in trying to reason with others or making the best and smartest out of any given situation.

about your character: Silas remembers most of his life, but some of the talents, wisdom, great ideas and
knowledge that he once had are not there anymore, or at least clouded. He’s not delusional, mentally handicap, or crazy – he’s still him at heart, just looking to regain the mental superiority he once thrived in. He also sometimes asks people if they know anything about Arlon, although no one seems to know - he does not hold a vendetta against him, but simply is curious as to how Arlon is doing after knowing him for so long.

1. As you walk through the deep
forests you hear the sound of whispering and snickering. Upon inspection you realize that a group of High Elves are mocking a small Wood Elf child. How do you
react?



Answer: Silas approaches the scene and calmly asks, “So what’s going on here?” A high elf replies with attitude, “What’s it to you?” Aware that they’re all unarmed and obviously moved by his presence, Silas simply steps forward and grabs the child by the hand, walking him away from the group “Nothing really, I’m just some guy right? But you’re all pathetic. Because I know you wouldn’t talk to me like that. Especially not by yourself.” He does not show a single sign of intimidation. The elves are moved by his calmness and casual nature, and say nothing in return, allowing the scene to end in silence.

 

 

2. Whilst wandering through the Elven forests
you come across a frail old man with a walking stick. He collapses in front of you, falling to the ground with a sharp thud. Out of his pocket falls a
small pouch of gold coins, which hits the ground and splits open spreading
coins across the pathway. The man lies there, defenseless - what do you do?

Answer: Cautious of his surroundings, Silas immediately looks around for any potential marksmen in the
area and looks to see if the man was hit by an arrow. Once he sees that the man had seemed to simply faint, he approaches him, unconcerned with the coins on the ground, and attempts to help the man get up. Aware that he’s not as good with medical care as he once might’ve been, he realizes that the man is light enough to carry to the nearest place where he could get actual medical help, and Silas does so.

 

3. Whilst traversing the Elven Woodlands, you come across a small clearing in which a colored carriage
sits. A trader
stands outside of it and calls you over, telling you of his wares. He points out that his carriage sells
just about everything, and that he's willing for you to haggle for a price. What does your character
do? (Please include:- item, haggling for prices and the discussion involved).

 

Answer: Silas examines the wares and sees that the man has a diamond blade encased in glass. Recalling the times that a blade saved his life from night-creatures and criminals, he decided it could be a wise investment, and he could come back and buy the blade if it was too much. “How much for that blade?” he asks. The man snickers and answers, “30 minas! 30 minas is all I want for it.” Puzzled by the overall oddity of the situation and the ridiculously low price, Silas becomes aware that something fishy is going on. “Why so cheap?” The man laughs and says “Because I’m taking all your minas now!” as another man grabs Silas and puts him in a restraining hold. Silas realizes that he can get his money back easily, and he was only carrying around 200 minas anyway. He pretends to give in and runs away as if he’s given up on the situation, but had remembered their faces well. Silas decides to gather a group of vigilante-like individuals like him, or at least someone brave enough to care and help, to devise a plan to fool and stop the thieves and their scheme, and reclaim what’s his in a fair and honorable way (not killing them in cold-blood, as Silas tries to stray from unnecessary violence, but fool them and outsmart them on their own accord).

Congratulations, this was quite a good application. You seemed very aware of how very lore-correct elves ought to be roleplayed, which I enjoyed seeing very much.

 

However, a few minor things I noticed. First of all, regaining skill in a number of different things ought to take time. It shouldn't be a short venture, although it could cause very interesting roleplay.

 

Also, you did not use much lore on nation-names or city names. I looked past this because of your good use of Elven lore, but I would suggest looking into some stuff about Malinor as a nation if you are not too familiar with it.
