[Wip] Halfling Calendar

Hay Guys, as of late I've been trying to get the Halflings up and moving from their lazy slumber. Not a problem, people have OOC lives (not me, I spend my entire life on LOTC ;-; ) but I thought I might as well keep everything fresh. Anyhow, Halflings love events, so I was thinking a week or two ago of what new events we could have. I came to the conclusion I am not very creative, or at least I cannot make detail for the events. I also realized Halflings don't really have scheduled events, it's the fact that a festival is announced a week or two before hand. That's nice, but what are we looking forward to? Just a mystery event? I wanted holidays and a calendar, so that's what I made, a calendar of events and holidays for the Hobbits. I sent the idea to the Elders, but they too have lives, and have yet to respond, and I thought that the best way to improve is to get community ideas, maybe change this or that. Everything's up for change. Add ideas and what not, I can only ask you be creative! This idea won't get far unless the community (and not just the Halfling community) decides to add ideas.

This is by no means official, just ideas, just for fun!

This is in calendar form for the new Roman calendar (AKA The calendar most everyone uses IRL) but it's just to schedule the events, not saying that we use this calendar in game.

January~

8th: Hobbit Hogs Day- A festival of everything Pig-like. Eating bacon, pork, pigs feet, pig snout, or drinking pigs ale, pigs milk, etc. No real history other than the fact Hobbits wanted another reason to drink and laugh.

February~

March~

22nd: Shovel Day- Halflings set up tents and racks to show all their shovels! Old, new, weak, strong, golden, iron, wooden, made for decoration, a tool, a friend, a gift, a weapon, or even just a giant spoon to eat with! Trades of shovels, uses of shovels, or just more laughing is the name of the game here.

April~

7th: Halfling Tour Of Lore- A collection of Days (In game days, that is) where Halflings learn of their History, and drink ancient ale. This was created to insure Halflings never forgot their ways, and always stayed true to tradition and fun.

May~

9th: Fishing Boat Day- This day, Halflings build their own boats! They go out onto the water with their own new boats, and catch as many fish of great size as possible. The history of this day is fuzzy, but we can guess it was due to the old Halflings way of fishing, and love for it.

20th: The Mid-Season Feast- A day in which food, hundreds of pounds of the best made vegetables, meats, fruits, grains, ale, mead, and so on, is placed out upon a wide table under the spring day. Elders usually take the first bite of the largest animal (depending on what animal was biggest this year) and a great feast of drunken story telling and eating begins! This Holiday was created to clear our any extra foods inside of the store house, and, of course, to have more fun and laughs.

June~

2nd: Music Day- Music day is, what else, all about MUSIC. Singing, dancing, ale drinking, and instruments. No real history behind this, other than the fact Halflings love to have a festival.

21st: Long Days of Sunshine- The day of most sunlight, Halflings party Day and night, knowing the monster of the night will not be out for a while. They celebrate their life, ale, and the fact no one will bother them this day!

28th: Smell Day- Halflings are encouraged to capture the best smelling smell inside of a bottle. This bottle, saved through out the year, will  finally be opened on "Smell Day" to create a wave of epic aroma throughout Lenfarthing (or where ever Halflings roam). This was actually created because of the Hobbits who refuse to bathe, and all this bottled smell is mostly just to combat the terrible smell, as to not ward off any new Hobbits or outsiders.

July~

9th: Love Day- Love day, also Friendship Day, is the day all Halflings are meant to show love to, yes, their love. If not, show love to your friends, or even try to find your love of Halflings. Maybe you will find your bride! The history of this is clear cut, Halflings were too shy to talk to other Halflings, and that cannot do. So this day is the day you try to show your thanks to your love, or find them.

August~

10th: Death Day- An odd day, you may think, but it is not evil. This is the day Halflings remember their lost, and their wisdom, and remember their elders of the past. Ale and food is right, and unlike you may think, the Halflings dance with smile upon their faces, dumping ale atop graves for it to sink into the coffins of the old, who even they still enjoy the ale!

September~

1st: Ale Day- Must I explain? ALE!

10th: Leaf Day- Leaf day is mostly nature, the name "Leaf Day" only because of the fall, and the number of leaves around. It's not recommended you try to make food with any nature items, but hay, ale if ale even if it's made out of mushrooms and dirt! The history is one as Halflings all have a love for things that grow...

October~

31st: Spook Day- Yes, like Halloween, people gather round for cookies, candy, ale flavored with odd tastes, and joy! Laughs! Songs! The whole reason for this is to Spook away nasty orcs trying to eat Halflings, so wear something scary! (Like a Tibb Mask...)

November~

N/A

December~

17th: Pumpkin Day- This is the anniversary of the coming of the Pumpkin Lord. (Basically like christmas) This holiday is but pumpkins! Prayers are sent, offerings to the Pumpkin Lord, wearing Pumpkins, eating Pumpkin seeds, or pie, or drinking Pumpkin Mead, all of this for the day at large! This is probably the greatest holiday of all the Halfling's year, and none are sad upon this day!

21th: Dark Days- This festival, if you so dare to choose to join it, is not of regular enjoyment. This is the darkest day of the turning of years, meaning it's the longest night of monsters you will see all year. They creep into the village, the night so dark even torch light is but a shim in the void. This is not a day of happiness, but a day of fear, the only one of the entire Halfling calendar. This day, or should I say night, is meant for you to blockade your doors and hide within your burrows, waiting for the sunlight to come...

I hope you guys add ideas, I heard some good ones in OOC when I was talking, I'll add them even if they are small.

please no "Orc Feasting Halflings" day

We already got a Pumpkin Day, it's actually when Benboboy's character, Knox, came around the Vale and we all had a random festival as he was our "God".

Every weekend we should have an event to ring life to our town ))

Not sure if we could support THAT much party time.
