“Knowing where you're from is important. If you don't know where you're from, then you don't know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, you don't know where you're going. If you don't know where you're going, chances are you're going in the wrong direction.” ~Conall Campbell

Clan Lore:

In the Making:
The O’Keefe line was born from Conall, son of Cathal Campbell, who Is the son of Caelan Campbell. For the longest time Conall lived with the Campbell family. Helping out where he can, and doing what was needed. Later down the road Conall met a fair woman, the only problem? She was from McHarnish, their rival clan. Cathal, being the current Chief of the Campbell Clan, saw that he had fallen for a McHarnish, so he was trying everything in his power to eradicate that woman from the plains of existence, all to keep the Campbell Clan pure. He tried poison. He tried murder. He even told her that he was going to kill her. Nothing seemed to phase that woman, which is why Conall had fallen for her. After a few years of brutal, but failed attempts, Cathal gave up on trying to kill her, but wasn’t finished with his son. He banished him from the Clan, leaving him and his wife to wander alone in Aegis. They would move from city to city, none taking them in. So the O’Keefe family accepted their fate, and traveled the world. Working for food, a place to live, and clothes. Never straying from their old ways of pureblood, each generation would marry a pureblood Adunian, or live their lives alone. Having enough of the ‘never stay in the same place’ lifestyle, they packed up and moved to where people wouldn’t judge them. The wilderness, home o’ the free. Living in small camps they had become accustomed to the wild lifestyle, wearing pelts for camouflage and some protection from the harsh winters too. They continued to thrive there for ages..

Most recent history:

Years later, after the feud with the McHarnish, and long after the death of Conall, the began to make quite the name for themselves. They caused quite the stir in the northern Urguan forests, gaining the nickname “Wolf Kin” to the natives in the area. Travelers, holding news of the Wolf Kin reached the Campbells. The Campbells thought it best to rid themselves of their kind since the Wolf Kin were terrorizing their people. Unannounced to them, they were of their own bloodline. Reaching their settlement, the Clan Campbell Chief, Eoghan, remembered their name from an old story his Pa’ had told him of the days of Aegis. A story passed down from generation to generation, in their family. The story that was told started back in the times of Aegis.((Story below.))

Both the O’Keefe’s and the Campbell’s had their sides of the story, but each side remembered the last names. Sionn, the O’Keefe’s current leader at the time was surprised when Alpin had said that he was a Campbell. As was Alpin when he had heard Sionn’s last name, O’Keefe. It was like the stories fresh out of the fairytales. Both sides a little cautious at first, to see if it was just bandits playing games. But after a few years they had grown together tighter than a Dwarven lock.Years passed by, and here they are, back at the Campbell Clan hall.

“Ya great grandfather, once tol’ me a story. Aye, he did. T’was a grand ol’ story, an’ if I remember it correctly, t’wentlike so: Th’ Campbell’s an tha McHarnish’s were always feudin’ ya see? An’ th’ kin o’ the Campbell’s current chief... Ach who was tha’ scuggan... Oh! Aye, t’was Cathal. Ye see, Cathal’s son, Conall, ‘ad fallen fer quite th’ woman, met her at th’ market tae. But little did ‘e know that his favoured lass was a McHarnish! Aye, she was. An’ ‘e continued to watch upon ‘er erryday, ‘e did. But once ‘e started seeing ‘er, ‘e found out tha’ she was a McHarnish. Oh aye, it suprised him, but by th’ nethet did it ne’er stop ‘im. ‘e said this aboot it: ‘Let nothin’ stop ye when it comes ta’ love!” ‘E said that indeed. An’ it didn’ stop ‘im! ‘E kept seeing ‘er. His father wanted nothin’ ta’ do with this though, so ‘e tried killin’ her. Erryday he did, Though ‘e never killed her. She always evaded his tricks, an’ tha’s why Conall loved ‘er so feckin much! Once Cathal gave up on killin’ her though. Cathal banished Conall ta’ go live with ‘is wife in tha wilds! He did. Oh aye.. But tha moral o’ tha story is such: Ne’er falter from your love, an follow yer heart.” -Said in the voice o’ Scotty O’Keefe.

Clan Traditions:

((Same tartan as clan Campbell))

The Wolf Pelt: The O’Keefes bear the same familiarity the McHarnishes have with wolves, but they express it in a different way. Before a boy in the O’Keefe family can become a man, he must have a wolf pelt. This pelt is special. It’s a mark of his own strength and skill and cannot be bought. A boy must earn his pelt by venturing into the wilderness and catching a fully grown wolf, bringing it back to the clan hall, and using it to undergo a trial of strength.

During the trial of strength, both the wolf and the boy will be deposited into an arena. The boy must fight the wolf with his bare hands, and win. If he is not ready, a parent or friend can step in, preferably with a very large claymore, and end the trial before any harm comes to the boy. Should he succeed, though, that boy will exit the arena a man, fit for marrying, and fighting beside his kin. He wears the pelt of that wolf  as a mark of honor for completing his trial, and he will wear that one pridefully until his dying day. If a man loses his wolf pelt, he will have to undergo the trials again before he may become a kinsman once more.

The Fox Pelt: Females of the clan are not required to go through the Trials to marry, but if they wish to be warriors, they must. Traditionally, they will wear headdresses sewn from the hide of a fox, to match the wolf-pelt their brothers, husbands and fathers possess.

In Battle: Only those who pass the trial of strength can join his kinsmen on the field of battle. According to the O’Keefe’s philosophy, a warrior who is not strong enough to kill a beast is not strong enough to kill a man. Brawling in the clan hall, however, is always allowed.

In Marriage: The wife of any O’Keefe wears a belt made from the tail of their husband’s pelt. A Man whose pelt has a tail on it is considered an unmarried man. Men from outside the clan that wish to marry a female O’Keefe must go through the Trial of Strength to earn a pelt fit for their wife’s waist. This tail-belt and the tailless wolf pelt act as as wedding bands for any married couple.

In Death: O’keefes never truly know what lies beyond the veil of life. Therefore, they are buried with their claymore and a wolf pelt, to fend off whatever lies in the dark depths beyond.

Odd words an O’Keefe Might use:
Bigman:The Clan Chief
Ken: Know
Kent: Knew
Scunner: A generally unpleasant person.
Scuggan: A really unpleasant person.
Pished: Tired....or so we are told.
Geas: An Oath
Pillie-wallie: Sick or pale.

The O’Keefe Mindset:

The O’Keefes are a varied and rascally bunch of men and women, but there are a few things about them that are nearly integral to their culture:

1: Chivalrous: Most Male O’Keefes tend to be respectful to women. This is more or less due to the fact that O’Keefes realized that wearing a wolf pelt on your head does not do wonders for the complexion, and O’Keefes, at some point, need to get around to making more O’Keefes.

2: A Sense of Brotherhood: No matter what, your clan is your pack. You can call them all the names you like, but at the end of the day they are family.

3: A complete and utter rascal: O’Keefes love light-hearted and, more often than not, drunken brawls. Often they’ll help up and see to the healing of the kin that they beat into a pulp. It’s all in good fun.

List of O’Keefe’s:
Scotty O’Keefe: hex37, clan leader of O’Keefe bloodline.
Ceana O’Keefe: TheMonkeyGame, IC daughter of Scotty O’Keefe.((O'Keefe Loremaster))
Quinlan O’Keefe: Leowarrior14, Nephew to Scotty O'Keefe

How to Join:

Send in an application and we’ll take a look at you! Roles that we need would be preferred, but not required. We do, however, ask that you commit time to actually playing them. It’s no good to have a clan hall filled with no one!

Applications and what we need:
What we’d most like to have at this point would be characters who are strong- ones that can really earn their pelt and sit beside scotty at the table.

((How about this: For the sake of roleplay, Quinnie knew there was no chance in hell he could pass his trial of strength, so in the arena, he manipulated a low hanging beam to crack and fall unto the wolf, breaking it's back, he then tentatively put it out of his misery. By all rules he had passed his trial, but he was looked down upon for o a trickster, as opposed to showing true strength, and bravery.))

I may have proposed something along those lines before, that was just a more detailed accounting.

((You most likely couldn't trick your way out of it just like that. Beams aren't your bare hands! You'd have to figure out another way. Alan has some shenanigans planned for when he tries to marry Ceana, too, but his might work. I'd like... not to promote the cheating too much though, actually. It's fine if Quinlan doesn't have a pelt at all! He'll just never be considered a warrior in the O'Keefe clan.))

[Enjoyed reading the lore, especially the part about wearing wolf pelts, becoming a warrior and all that. Consider it accepted]

Desired character name:  Conán O'keefe

Character age: 14

Brief character bio:

Conan would so be a young son of Scotty O'keefe, born into a calm time for the clans, where the spring's winds whispered through the trees, a time when all the animals seemed

calm. The hour grew long before Conan was born. His birth was something odd, how the nature was queit and how the waters were still. The first years of Conan was simple, he didn't do much but waddle around and cause minor trouble with the other children, but nothing more than a usual brawl. He grew up to become in liking of climbing trees, and buildings. Nothing made him smile more than to shoot with the longbow he had. His mind is focused on to one day becoming worthy of taking the man's task. He seems to have a good bond with his father, son to father atleast. So many times he fell off the trees and buildings, he's broken his hand a few times which makes it a little unsteady. His hair is always long and red-brownish, leaning towards brown. His skin is fairly pale but at the same time fitting to his features. Even though he is only four-teen he seems older than the average boy. He stands roughly five feet seven but will go into his true size one day or the other. He hasn't changed much in his personality through out the years, he is just a little more honourable and nice.

Character personality:

He is rather nice to the thought, he has a strong liking for critters of the wild. When he is frustrated or stressed he often get cocky and speedy to the tongue. He dislikes when men or women of a higher rank abuse their powers. For him, if he had to choose; Family, the better, the worse he'd always choose family. He respect his elders and those above him, seeking to be liked in their eyes. He can be rather naive at some points though.
