In-Character Information: Complete the following biography on your character: Full Name: Dorbir Blackmane Current Age: Dorbir Blackmane is 4 seasons old. Sub-race (if any): Mountain Dwarf. Clan (if any): No current clan. Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Dorbir Blackmane was born to a well enough off trading family on Asalon, though it had long roots. They were a close-knit clan, and Dorbir was very loving with his brothers and sisters. They grew up with the prosperity of their father’s trade, usually getting enough food and having sufficient enjoyment. At the age of 12, Dorbir’s father paid for him to be apprenticed to the local blacksmith, as he had always enjoyed heating up little bits of metal he’d find around. The man who trained him was alright, if not strict and a small talker. Slowly but surely, Dorbir learned the trade and delved more into his hobby. After six years of training, Dorbir was nearly ready to begin his journey in the world, and perhaps open his own smithy. But that was when the Storm began on Asalon. As it swept across the continent, his family grew steadily more fearful. Preparations were soon initiated. Dorbir’s parents purchased several rooms on a vessel, as the sea seemed the only option as more and more of the continent was devastated. After all their belongings were packed, the family trekked off for the sea. Nearing the ocean, they were intercepted by a group of desperate bandits, looking nervously for tickets on the boats. Defending their livelihood, Dorbir’s parents chose to say no to the attackers, and this spelled out their deaths. Dorbir and his brothers tried their best to make a stand, as his sisters fled. As his brothers broke and fled, he had just enough time to speak with his dying father, who instructed him to carry on and make a life for himself, with or without his family. And so Dorbir ran with all his might, continuing on the path to the sea. In a day or two he reached the sands, many vessels lining them. With his own ticket clutched in his hand, he managed to get onto the boat, hoping his siblings had also made it. As he made the voyage across the sea, he found no siblings of his. This saddened him deeply, and he spent the trip mostly by his lonesome. As he arrived in the new lands, he took to travelling from town to town and doing whatever odd-jobs he could find, always looking for the family he had lost so seemingly long ago. After several years of this, he still searches for a place to settle in life. Where will his adventures take him? Ambitions for the Future: I hope to set up a nice smithy in a town, and perhaps gain a wife and children later on in life. Personality: Dorbir fits the personality of any average dwarf, though he is a bit different due to his life with humans since the age of 18. He loves beer just like any other dwarf, and is quite loud and honorable. He enjoys helping his friends and strangers when they treat him with respect, and would gladly die for his allies need be. Skills: Dorbir is a notably well blacksmith, due to his extensive training by his father. He is not bad with a hammer or axe in battle either, though he wouldn’t be considered a master. Lastly, he’s very fond of woodworking, such as carving lovely stories into a nice arch or even just a block of wood. In terms of his blacksmithing ability, Dorbir specializes in wooden and iron armor as well as the weapons of the same material. After learning the trade for about 10 years of his life, Dorbir was considered ready to branch off on his own. Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Dorbir stands at a height of 3’9”, brown hair coating his scalp and face. He is garbed in nice enough cloth, colored brown green and gold. He is seen with a smile on his face regularly, and sweat dripping from his brow, frequently being at the bellows. Any other details you wish to share about your character: I hope it’s not derpy that my dwarf works for humans, as it works into a plot Drazker has established, and he has included me within it. Open-Response-Questions Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point. ____ 1. Whilst mining deep in the undergrounds of Kalos you see a large deposit of diamond ore at the other side of the ravine you are on. There is a very thin rock bridge that looks precariously unstable, but it is the only way to access the deposit. What do you do? Answer: In the event of such, Dorbir Blackmane would alert his closest superior, to better grasp the situation. Diamond is a valuable thing, but it is not worth losing one’s life over. With help, not only is there a higher chance of in the end getting the ore, but less loss of life will most likely take place. The miners are him being fellow dwarfs, which he was always looking to befriend, Dorbir would trust his fellow miners completely to help him in the situation and not try to take from his find. Besides that fact, Dorbir had just turned four seasons old, which is a young but wizened age. He would never rush across the unstable bridge just for some diamonds; life was more important than material things. 2. You are sitting in the local tavern with a large pint of ale in your hand - sitting nearby you is a rather young dwarf whom is clearly going through a bad time. He is crying to himself, and clutching a small wooden hammer toy. In the other corner of the room two shady dwarves are sitting whispering to each other and pointing occasionally at the dwarf. They stand up, one with a small dagger in his hand and begin to approach the young dwarf. What do you do? Answer: Dorbir would keep an eye on the two men, not trying to seem obvious, and would wait for them to act. Should they attack the man, he would spring up and move to try and aid him. His first objective would be to disarm the daggerman, and then to get them away. After hopefully succeeding in getting the men away, he’d speak to the crying man about what was wrong and if there was anything he could do to help. If he succeeded with raising the man’s spirits, he’d drink a beer with the man, talk a bit more, and probably head home. 3. Whilst wandering through the Dwarven Caverns you hear a voice call out to you; “Oi, ye’! C’mere n’ get ye’rself an ale!”. You spin on your heel and see a heavily bearded bar-owner looking at you - a huge grin on his face, and a mug of ale in his hand. How do you react? Answer: Dorbir would thank him graciously and take the mug, for most are not so generous as this. Nodding, I’d take a sip in good manners, asking him what possessed him to give me such a gift. Dorbir would then strike up some more conversation and finish off his ale.
ski_king3 0 Share Posted March 22, 2013 Under Review Now before I go on, I would like to say this is quite a good application. Your bio was quite nice, and I really liked it. However, there are a few things I would like to address. The biggest thing I saw was your ORQ's. For one, you should not say that if he succeeds or not in your bio. Perhaps flesh them out a little more, add some dialogue, and decide whether or not your character succeeds in their endeavors. In the fight, you don't need to say "after hopefully succeeding." Instead, give more details on what he'd do to do this. Also, I feel like your character could be a little bit more dwarf-like. It's not wrong to have him interact more with humans, but perhaps you could flesh out the dwarf curses a little bit more to make them a bit more clear. I think you tried to do that in the personality section, but I feel you could make it a bit more prevalent. Also, just so you know, living with humans as a dwarf might lead to a hard life. Just saying. The last thing seems a little minor in context with the rest of your app, but for past roleplay experience, those seem like experiences in RPG's, not in RP. Even though I'm denying you, this was quite a good app, I look forward to seeing your next one. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. You may reapply in 24 hours.
