Character Sub-race: Kha'Leparda

Character appearance (Including age and gender): Dawka, as a newborn kitten, is a bit... wide. Not necessarily pudgy like his father, Dato, but he's got a husky frame. When he grows up, he'll probably look very broad-shouldered and intimidating. His coat is a dark brown, almost umber, with faint dark spots. His nose is a bit squished in. His eyes are purple.

What is the personality of your character like?: Dawka is a gentle giant. His large size may have people assume he is dangerous, but he goes out of his way to avoid stepping on the tiny little creatures that may be under his feet in the jungle. He would never hurt a fly. He is quite pacifistic, and tends to spend much of his time sleeping, or just watching others. He's tenacious, and reluctant to go journeying or travel anywhere, and tends to be a follower, not a leader. He has taken a liking to playing with the animals of the jungle.

Brief Biography of this character’s life thus far (taking into account the rules against creating a character born outside of the empire): I'm a kitten so... Nothing's happened yet.

Character’s ambitions within the Kharajyr: To train and domesticate the animals of the jungle, putting them to good use.

Character’s strengths/weaknesses: Dawka has a big heart, and an even bigger body. In all actuality, he's very strong, but he never uses his strength to do anything. He's timid and pacifistic, and is even reluctant to defend friends and family, as he tries to avoid conflict at all cost. This is a weakness of his. He often tries to talk things over. Another strength is his generosity and selflessness, as long as being generous or kind doesn't involve hurting somebody else.

Situational Roleplay Questions

1. You are heading home from a successful hunting trip when a group of three heavily armoured humans jump out from behind a tree and start demanding the surrender of your catch over to them. Each man has a sword drawn and they are gradually pacing towards you...

How does your character react?

Dawka looks around, wide-eyed. Swords are pokey, and they hurt. He doesn’t want to cause too much trouble, so he bows his head, dropping the catch, and backs away. He runs home to tell his family of the dangerous humans in the jungle.

2. You arrive at the temple of Metztli only to see one of your closest friends stealing the sacred blue gems from the altar, a most unholy act for a Kharajyr.

How does your character react?

 

Dawka gasps.

 

"What are you-a doeeng? You know that ees not allowed!" He strides over. "Put those down... you weell get een trrrouble." Dawka's friend chuckles, and then runs off. Dawka reaches out a paw in vain, watching his former friend run away. He shakes his head, closing his eyes, and sighing.

3. You are in the Cloud Temple when a stout, angry little dwarf begins yelling highly racist terms towards you at the top of his lungs. Although unarmed, the dwarf continues to yell after he makes eye contact with you.

How does your character react?

 

Dawka looks away, trying to avoid eye contact with the dwarf. He sits down, hoping the dwarf will stop. He doesn't. Dawka then covers his ears with his paws, trying to just block the noise out. The dwarf continues on his raging tirade, and Dawka closes his eyes, pretending the dwarf isn't there. The dwarf eventually gets tired, and runs out of breath, waddling off. Dawka lets out a sigh of relief, and continues listening to the birds whistle their beautiful songs.

4. Fire has broken out over the jungle city and you can hear the screaming of two Kha’ nearby. As you go investigate, you notice that one of your friends and the Tlatlanni’s white-furred child have gotten themselves trapped in opposite ends of a burning building. The roof creaks above you, if you were to get involved, you would only have time to save one before the building collapsed.

How does your character react?

 

Dawka yelps in fear. He doesn't know what to do. Thoughts race through his head. Should he save his friend? Or one of the Tlatlanni's children? Back and forth, he can't decide. He whimpers, trembling, watching buildings collapse under fire. He waits, not able to make up his mind... when the roof begins to fall. He runs out, and watches the entire building fall. He begins to shake, backing away, and then he turns, sprinting off into the jungle, tears flying from his eyes.
