A Bobbing Corpse In Salvus

Behind Dawn's Bakery in Salvus, in the quaint little pond, floats a drenched corpse.

 

​It is not of average proportions, the body. The flesh clings tightly to the bone, absolutely no muscle of mass between the flesh and bones, joints and knotty sockets of the bone visible under the stretched wrapping of skin. The  skin wilts to a dark gray, bruises and blood splatters littering the carcass.

 

The body wears a strongly familiar dress, that of the Imperial Princess Sophia Horen. Clearly not truly her, although the body entrapped in her attire, it floats on the water.

A message lay weaved with bloody wiring, metal string bound in the letters of a code. The delicate stringing reads as follows, a claw-mark etched to the side of it:

Upon seeing the body, Hunwald shakes his head. "This 'as tu be most edgeh killah' in da whul' wurl'."

Dr. Corvo Archdiamond would go over to the seat by the pool to collect his thoughts, only to notice a corpse floating in the pool. If it were just any other corpse, Corvo would drag it out and set it ablaze, however Corvo, with little difficulty finds the message. He then realizes that he has seen the dress before. He immediately rises, knowing better than to meddle in the murders of  royalty. Corvo would then send a hastily written letter to the shields reporting what he had found, wanting to do little more with the corpse or the kidnapping.

Thomas walks to the pond behind the bakery, as he does sometimes, and sees the body there. He leaps back in shock upon seeing the body and shouts loudly, "CORPSE IN THE POOL!".  After a few moments, Thomas begins to edge closer to the corpse and he looks over it. He sees the dress and, having just heard about the kidnapping, thinks the worst. He motions some others watching to get closer as he says quietly and sounding deeply in shock, "The-the princess...". As they come over he notices the message, which implies that she's alive. He feels slightly relieved at this, but he's still shocked at all of this. He then turns away from the corpse and shouts for Kais to come, saying that the kidnappers left a message.

Shen pauses mid-stride as he spots the body, a brow arching as he walks slowly to the pond.

 

His lips curl into a demented smile, a fit of coughing overtaking him as he tries desperately to hide a bout of laughter.

 

He walks off.

King James walks through the Salvus dungeon with only 2 men with him, Ser Ocran and Commander Bloodblade. He looks at the four with the highest crimes to large amounts of theft, to Murder he motions to those four as he orders the two.

 

"Those four in Shield Uniforms now! Then bring them to my Throne room!"

 

James hastly walks up to his Throne room the gates closed as the four are brought in wearing the shield uniform. Ser Ocran nodding to the king the Shield commander looking confused as ever as he speaks.

 

"Are we killing our own?!"

 

James shakes his head

​"Fret not my dear commander, These are common criminals who are dressed up as our own to knock out two birds with one stone. I will not diminished our Shield numbers while they are so low already. Have these four ready to be hanged..

 

He walks out to the Gallows over looking the city as he nods to himself. A small crowd gathering as the bell tolls showing that many are to be hanged soon. The King silently waits looking into the distance his mind running rampart from many things, constant Raiders, possible war, family chaos, and Sophia's kidnapping. He shakes his head as Ser Ocran brings the four up and they line up in the gallows the Shield commander putting the ropes around thier necks Ocran looking to the king nodding

"Everything is All ready M'looord" 

 

James nods in Return as Ser Ocran begins his speech rallying the crowd to shout "Give them another chance," to "Death to the Traitors!" James watches his people whip up into a frenzy scanning area for Sprat or any more clues. He heards the block fall and a loud "thud" heard as the four slowly hang to death. Four Common criminals passed on as Sheilds in shield uniforms. James nods to himself knowing only 5 people know they were fakes. Sighing as he rubs his chin muttering to himself "Crawling Needles and this? What in the Creators name does it mean?"
