A Raggedy Run In

Now slightly over half a year since the disappearance of Salm Melontoes, the halflings have given up their search, now believing him to be dead. On one sunny, yet windy, day, nearyl all the townfolk are gathered in the inn ((Anyone who is active on their halfling)) They sit, and chat and drink. All is merry. As they look to the fireplace to watch someone sing. As they all turn, the door slams behind them. A cold wind blows the fire out, and the inn is nearly darkened. The halflings turn, and see a silouette standing in the doorway. One halfling is barely able to see a strand of pink hair not darkened by the bright sun. "It's Salm!" The door closes, and all the halflings see the pink-haired halfling standing, covered in cuts and waterweed. His vest is gone, and he wears a ripped purple shirt. His pants are fine, and his feet look waxed. Salm flicks some amphibious gel off his shoulder, and steps in, relighting the fire to warm himself. All are silent, watching the flames dance across the fireplace. The soon begin to talk, trying to find out what happened to Salm. Salm merely stares, wishing he had had fire in the woods. In the cave. With them.

Two days pass, and Salm still sits quietly by the fireplace in the inn. He rarely speaks, rarely moves, and rarely eats. The only person he will talk to is his friend Bernard. Even to his close friend, he won't tell of what bcame of his for that half-year. Bernard brings him food, water, and an ocassional pipe. Salm looks less malnourished, even after two days, but still has that same blank expression.

One day, the halflings sit in the inn, trying to ignore the ominous stare of Salm. Then he speaks "Frogs." Only Aris and Bartley hear him. They shush the rest, and listen for more. "Frogs. Men. Frog Men." The hobbits watch and listen, contemplating his words. The only two who understand are Bolo, and Richard, the two finders of the books. The books, unbeknownst to them, was the plea. The plea for help. The Man-Frogs were asking for help. Food, and the like. Bolo and Rich only read the simple stuff in the books. they had no idea of the tru meaning. It seemed living next to the Witch Woods made him first on the kidnapping list. Salm continues, finally spilling the secrets which he had held so long. The halflings gasp, and wonder what to do.

((Anyone who wants to play the Man-Frogs need to leave a reply saying so. And please post your characters reactions to all this, to clarify IC that he will not go, or go to do whatever you guys decide to do.))

Bolo listens to the coversation his eyes wide with fear as Salm tells his terribly frightening story. He feels a tinge of guilt not being able to put two and two together to realize Salm had been kidnapped by frog people. He gets up and pats Salm on the back reassuring his empty broken eyes he'll be alright. He turns to the fire speaking softly,

"We'll be by ya side through this lad, jus' ask for me an' I'll be there. We've all been through a bi' o' pain as o' lately."

Bolo touches the two halves of fingers he has a little bit of tears coming to his eyes as he speaks to Salm.

Posco Bramble sits quietly behind the rest of the Halflings, listening to all the Halflings talk but not adding to the conversation. He sits taking occasional sips of ale, thinking about Frog Men. How could something like that exist? Has Salm just gone mad? Although very concerned about Salm, and fearful of the "Frog Men" (assuming they are real), Posco is more skeptical than anything else. However when Bolo speaks Posco can't help but nod and then mutter,

" Yeah, I'll be by yer side"

((Has the Frog Man lore been accepted yet? Also *cough* Shadow Over Innsmouth *cough*))
