 Greetings

My name is Tenshar Karkun, Savant of the Department of Naturalism within the Ministry of Contemplation. And today, I bring you information from the North. One elven day ago myself and three others received a letter from a man requesting we come to the north gate and meet him. Having recently found our planned expedition location already looted and explored we eagerly took up the mans offer. On arrival we met with an old somewhat senile old man named Baris the Guide, who proceeded to take us past the north gate. Now, many of you I am sure have heard the tales of the ice and snow of the north, but that is only what divides up from what truly lies beyond. After a time we reached this place beyond, a land of pine trees and grass. Scattered about were what we should have at the time realized were warnings to stay back. These were skull shrines, totems and other such things littering the land and the many ruins built upon it. Yes, ruins, a good dozen or more that I counted during our walk scattered everywhere.

Now, at this time my party and I encountered the Boar Men of the north, creatures of a very tribal and superstitious nature if the way they acted towards us was any clue. Our guide spoke to us about how the Boar Men were at odds with another group he simply called the others. This, along with the detail that they had been driven from their original homes suprised me, though it explained why they had made trips into the south beyond the ice. Soon after we encountered the Bora as the old man called them, we were chased by a large group of them for a short distance when a sudden screech sent the Boar Men fleeing. What made the screech we could not say at the time, but never the less we kept our eyes to the sky as we continued on. After a time we reached a ruin of interest and chose to enter it, slowly wandering in and exploring the area. As we did one of our party got separated, so we went and looked for him, but not finding him we decided to wait.

And that is where we saw it, a creature of almost all black who almost seemed to float of the floor. We quickly hid and went silent and after a time the creature passed. Wishing to find the lost party member and leave as quickly as possible we left the room and continued on. A few minutes later we came across our missing party member, I will spare you the reader the details but needless to say the man was quite dead. In horror we quickly made plans to leave when the guide mentioned he had lost his walking stick and asked one of us to go find it. Not wishing to split the party we diced to look around the area only to have a collapsed tunnel suddenly cut the party in half, myself with the old man and the two other armed party members together. Not knowing what had happened to the other two I decided to look for another way out with the old man. As we ventured further from the cave in a book was found by Baris and he picked it up, it was at this point that I learned what had made the screech that drove off the boar men.

Swooping in from the ceiling, a creature grabbed Baris, picked him up, and threw him against the wall. Again, sparing the details of how and what, the man was now dead laying on the ground clutching the book. As I stood there alone now, I studied the creature that had killed him, and to my horror I realized it was not some animal or bird...But a creature almost elven in appearance, if one could get past the jet Black wings, malformed face and other changes that had clearly warped whatever the creature had been. Knowing the creature could easily kill me if I gave it the chance I quickly took cover under low hanging stones and moved my way over to the old man's body, where I closed his eyes, said a quick word and then grabbed the book.

As I did this a second creature entered the room, a creature I have taken to calling the "Not Halfing" after its size. The creature much like the bird thing above was badly changed and now moved around more like an ape or such then anything bipedal. It quickly made known it wished for me to feed it, though not in the manner of feeding a stray dog but in the manner of prey to predator. Moving quickly I followed the old path I had taken to get where I was, finding the caved in opening had settled some and was now large enough for me to escape. Doing so I quickly ran from the place, passing the body of the other two party members as I did to my horror. Knowing the only thing keeping me alive was the creatures wish to play with their prey before they killed me I ran for my life, jumping chasms and holes in ice bridges through the maze that is the barrier land as I have taken to calling it. As I ran the bird creature swooped in and threw me, but to my luck I landed in snow and not stone. Quickly getting up I continued to run, and only after exhausting myself to my utmost limit did I reach the North gate.

I was safe, but the trip had come at a cost. As I limped out the gate and toward home I clutched the book to my chest hoping only that whatever was inside it was worth it. What I would later find within it is a journal of a man from Lefarthing and his last days on this world. He spoke of runes that gave him an evil feeling but that seemed similar, of the creatures I had encountered calling them "Flesh Creatures" a proper name for what I had encountered. He also spoke of an Astral Spirit that seemed to hold no hostility to him, and simply watched. Beyond this there is nothing, as one page that may have contained vital information is missing from the book, the page that explained what he had realized the runes meant.

Be warned if one wishes to rush off to hunt these creatures, they have powers and abilities I have not seen the like of, and were more then a match for the three well armed individuals that had journeyed with me. If you go, go well prepared and well armed and always watch the sky,

Should any more information come to light in future trips, we the Ministry of Contemplation will post more notices where these ones were. Be safe people of Anthos.

((This event was by far one of my favorites, and you captured it PERFECTLY, from scaring the Bohra away with my Creature's inhuman screech, to picking up poor, old, senile Baris and flinging him against the wall. (Bless him, he was so funny <3 Iat) Expect more to come! It'll be great! :D))
