Aptrotta 162 Share Posted June 9, 2013 Bartley mutters to himself as he swings his small legs out from under the covers and over the side of the bed. " Four years...". He balls his hands into a fist and rubbed his eyes. " Four years since...." The hobbit sniffs. "Since Balboa and Catalina d-d-died..." Placing his hands gently on the side of the bed he pushes himself up. " Four years since I have seen the light of day...." Wobbling and shaking, the hobbit takes a step. " Four years since I laughed my last laugh...." Another step, his feet making barely audible thuds as they hit the floor. " Four years since I smiled with glee...." Closing his eyes Bartley raises his right arm, his fingers flayed out. " Four years since rain danced on my cheeks." Fingertips lightly danced on a round metal knob. After one deep breath Bartley closed his hand over the knob. " Four years is enough...." One more deep breath and Bartley leaned forward while turning his hand slowly to the right. Sunlight seeped into the burrow filling every book and cranny it could find with its gleaming golden rays. I took the break to help Bartleys story of falling in depression after the death of his kids.
