Full Name: Alex Demont

Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): 

Alex grew up in Salvus as an orphan with his younger sister, Lydia. They had to survive on food that was thrown away or the leftovers of nicer families. They were mainly cared for by their aunt, who didn't really care about them, but they managed to survive in her attic until Alex was old enough to care for himself and Lydia. When he turned 18, he happily left their aunt's home with Lydia, and they went out into the world to make a living. They worked with bakers, cooks, teachers, a little bit of everything, just barely making enough many for food and shelter. 

          One day, as they came upon an odd traveling peddler, he offered them a deal. He told them he could sell them any of his masks at a bargain because he felt bad for them, and thought they needed a little happiness. So, with money they had saved for personal treats, Alex chose one of the masks, a plain wooden one, the mouth an odd zig-zag and two red stripes under the eye holes. The peddler thanked them for their purchase and continued on his way, Alex constantly wearing the mask to remind the both of them that there were still nice people in the world. They are now travelers and sometimes visit Salvus when they can.

Ambitions for the Future: Alex wants to invent a more effective way to travel and he wants to make sure that his little sister has a good life.

Personality: He is creative, smart, and enjoys puzzles, mazes, and anything that involves using your mind. 

Skills: He worked with many different kinds of professions, but never really mastered them all, so he can do many different jobs except fighting.

1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?

 

Answer: I inform the guards that there is something near the palace that the guards should see, indirectly pointing them towards the dark-clothed man as not to make an enemy. I make sure the dark clothed man does not see me as I make my move to stay as far from the conflict as possible, always making sure Lydia is safe. I inform other civilians of what could likely be a conflict and that they should move away to keep themselves safe, still making my way into some alleyway or abandoned building that Lydia and I could hide and rest in. When whatever happened is finished, Lydia and I would make our way into town, acting as if we didn't have anything to do with what happened.

 

 

2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react?

 

Answer: I would find a safe hiding place for Lydia, then attempt to stop the two men. If they would attack me, I would try to avoid fighting them while my sister and I led them away from the old man. If I were to sustain any injuries it would be in protection of Lydia, and we would try to get away from the bandits however we could. I would only attack if it were purely in self defense or if they harmed Lydia. If I take any mortal injuries, I would fight until the end, keeping the bandits away from Lydia and the old man.

 

 

3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens).

 

Answer: We would attempt to haggle down the prices of food and water, nothing but, to our extremely low amount of coins. He would tell us that he couldn't let us buy them at such low prices, and we would beg until he agreed to sell us anything we could get. If not, we would ask him if we could work off the debt, if only we could get some of his food. If he agrees, we dutifully work all of the money we owe him off, and return to looking for a job or supplies.
